After the beheading of Jesus’ cousin, John the Baptist, Jesus departed to a desert place to be with the Father. But a crowd followed Jesus and He spent the day healing all of the sick people. In Matthew 14:15, the disciples pointed out to Jesus that they were in a deserted place and the hour was late.
In John 6:5, Jesus asked Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” Verse 6 says that Jesus said this to test Philip even though He knew what He was about to do. Remember that Jesus is still teaching and mentoring His disciples. Continued on page 8

How to NOT Gain Weight Over the Holidays
Samantha Taylor Pure Health & Fitness Studios I greatly enjoy the holidays, not only seeing family but I also enjoy the feel the holidays bring and I do enjoy the food! I did make a decision, though, many years ago about how I would handle this time of year with my health and fitness because these holidays do happen every year! Now is the time where a lot of people start to slack off with their health and fitness and for two months and just eat whatever is around, waiting until the new year to somehow magically get all this new motivation and focus to lose weight only to be disappointed and not lose that extra 10 lbs. they gained over the holidays. That is how so many people become 100 lbs. overweight—10 lbs. at a time. Instead of becoming part of that statistic and being frustrated continually with your weight, how about starting something different NOW? You have 2 months before 2015, yes 2015. It’s hard to believe, but it’s here. How are you doing with your weight and with your health and fitness goals? Do you get better each year or worse? Are you continually moving closer to the body you would like or farther away? These are important questions to ask because they make you think about where you currently are. We did a seminar at my studio in Land O’ Lakes about self-image
and how to have lasting success. We need to start to see ourselves differently, but first one must fully accept where they are. To totally see it for what it is and move forward. It’s that acceptance that positions you to move forward. As far as this month with Thanksgiving, make a decision to not use this holiday as an excuse to put aside being healthy. Have balance with your food and festivities and don’t let yourself just eat anything you want. One of the best things you can do with Thanksgiving food is focus on eating more of the turkey, gravy, and veggie dishes. Just remember, if you “pig out,” you will pay for it by how stuffed you feel, tired and groggy not only that night but also the next day. The biggest thing that makes people gain weight is spiked insulin levels caused by eating excess carbs. Carbs are unfortunately most of the “comfort” foods like mashed potatoes, stuffing, and traditional desserts. Consider making some of those same types of foods that aren’t so full of carbs. You can make mashed cauliflower (tastes very similar to mashed potatoes). Search for recipes for low-carb stuffing, and there are many delicious recipes you can make for desserts that have no sugar. I have some amazing desserts that will shock your friends and family because they have no sugar in them and they sure taste like they do, including chocolate peanut butter fudge. I even have a recipe for low-carb and no sugar pecan pie! If you would like to get some traditional Thanksgiving recipes that taste delicious, go here: www.purehealthstudios.com/thanksgivingrecipes. Which of These Costly Home Sellers’ Mistakes Will You Make When You Sell Your Home? Tampa Bay Area—A new report has just been released which reveals 7 costly mistakes that most homeowners make when selling their homes, and a 9 Step System that can help you sell your home fast and for the most amount of money. This industry report shows clearly how the traditional ways of selling homes have become increasingly less and less effective in today’s market. The fact of the matter is that fully three quarters of home sellers don’t get what they want for their homes and become disillusioned and—worse—financially disadvantaged when they put their homes on the market. As this report uncovers, most home sellers make 7 deadly mistakes that cost them literally thousands of dollars. The good news is that each and every one of these mistakes is entirely preventable. In answer to this issue, industry insiders have prepared a FREE Special Report entitled “The 9 Step System to Get Your Home Sold Fast and For Top Dollar”. To order your FREE copy of this Special Report, visit www.TampaBayHomeGuide.com. The Website is always available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Florida Holocaust Museum New Exhibit The Florida Holocaust Museum announces Jehovah’s Witnesses: Faith Under Fire, a new exhibit open now and running through January 11th, 2014. Faith Under Fire, a traveling exhibition created for the Florida Holocaust Museum by the ArnoldLiebster Foundation, chronicles the Nazi persecution of Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Witnesses’ nonviolent resistance to Nazi terror inside and outside the camps.
Jehovah’s Witnesses, a Christian community of 35,000 in Germany and occupied lands, refused to conform to the Nazi ideology of hate. They suffered severely for their belief in nonviolence and their utter rejection of racism. Thrown into Nazi camps, they became eyewitnesses of Nazi genocide. As historian John Toland wrote, this is “a story of human courage that must be heard.”

What You Don’t Know Can Hurt You!
Kathy Burke Kathy Burke Financial, LLC www.kburke.sswise.com 813-352-4060 Thousands of people apply for social security benefits each day without knowing enough to make the best decision for their family. Most of them think there are only three filing options: early, at full retirement age (FRA), or delayed. Actually, there are hundreds of options available! And beware—filing early could reduce benefits 25% for the REST OF YOUR LIFE! However, each year you wait past your FRA, you earn delayed retirement credits that add about 8% to your benefit payout each year! This results in nearly an additional 32% increase in benefits for the REST OF YOUR LIFE. Over your lifetime, it could add up to $100,000 or more! Without making an informed decision, people are putting their retirement at risk. Social Security benefits are a set amount paid to you for the rest of your life, regardless of how long you live and in the face of any market downturns. You should know your options. Here are a couple of interesting filing strategies: 1. Claim and suspend: Once you reach FRA, you can claim your benefit and immediately suspend it. (In other words, stop
payments before they begin.) This creates two additional benefits: a. Your spouse, if 62 or older, can begin collecting spousal benefits. Filing before FRA will lock your spouse into this payment for life. b. Your own benefit, when you claim it at a later date, will have increased in size because of “delayed retirement credits.” 2. Claim a spousal benefit, and then later claim your own benefit. If your spouse is at FRA and collecting benefits, and you are at FRA, you may be eligible for spousal benefits now. This is a “restricted” filing, which allows you to receive spousal benefits now and delay taking your benefits. Your benefits may then receive the additional nearly 8% per year. At age 70, you can switch to your benefits if they are higher than your spousal benefits. Claiming benefits before FRA limits your options. Claiming benefits after FRA provides more flexibility and bigger payouts. But there is no benefit to claiming your benefits beyond age 70. Determining when to collect benefits is a very difficult process to navigate alone. Don’t leave your future to chance. Let me help you determine the best option for your family. I can also help you develop the best strategy for saving for retirement according to your risk profile. For retirees, I create an income distribution plan to ensure cash flow is sutfficient and tax efficient. Call for your FREE Social Security Analysis that will provide you with your best option. Enjoying Everyday Life on the Way to Where I’m Going
The Tortoise and the Hare Play Golf Rick Bradshaw PGA Professional/GM Many of you may remember the story of the Tortoise and the Hare. It is one of my favorites because the story provides an informative analogy of how the relationship of the arms and body work throughout the golf swing. Common beliefs may include that the arms swing first and the body responds to the arm swing, or the body provides the force for the arms to swing. The discussion whether the tail wags the dog or the dog wags the tail are ongoing in golf except when you ask a dog. In the story of the Tortoise and the Hare, the Hare is an extremely quick animal with great speed, much like that of our arms in the golf swing. The Tortoise, on the other hand, is slow, steady, and forging which could apply to our body during the golf swing. To summarize the story quickly, the Tortoise and the Hare have a race and the Hare goes to sleep because he is beating the Tortoise so badly. However, the hare—having slept too long—wakes up and tries to catch up to the Tortoise only to lose the race by a hair. Anyway, the analogy is this. The body in the golf swing could be compared to the Tortoise, turning and pivoting to create power. The arms represent the Hare because in the race of the golf swing, we want
the body to reach impact position with the right hip twisted inwards just before the arms swing through the shot. I might be convinced that the race between the body and arms could result in a tie with the Hare riding the Tortoise across the finish line. As a result, the arms do not in my opinion win the race as your body transfers weight into the resistance of your left leg on the downswing. If the arms and body work together as a team opposing the momentum of the club head through the ball to a finish, the trail foot will be pulled off the ground, releasing your body weight into the lead foot and enhancing swing velocity and club face contact with the golf ball. If we were to enter the club head into the race, it would definitely finish last, lagging behind into the golf ball because of the free link of our wrists. When I first asked my partner Jim Dent what he feels when drives the ball 300 yards, he says, “Everything moves together through the ball, it’s that simple.” Think body and arms working together throughout the swing, allowing the arms and club head to naturally react to the body pivoting, creating a momentous occasion and memorable experience. Captain Ric’s Fish Tales Reel Simple Fishing Adventures
Robert Godfrey with a nice upper slot redfish he caught recently while fishing in Tampa Bay with Capt. Ric Liles.
It’s taking its time, but the cooler temperatures of fall are on the way. Usually by now, we have had more cool weather dropping the water temps a little more. This will promote a better bite as our fish start to prepare for winter. With the middle of October having water temps in the mid 80’s, it is no surprise that the bite has been slower than normal for this time of year. This does not mean that the fish have not been cooperating because they have, just not to normal expectations. We have had some good days recently, mostly with redfish, but the “gorge” from most of our fish has not started yet. When it does start, we should be in for a treat. I feel like the old saying that a “watched pot never boils” is ringing true right now. This is normally an exciting time for me as I start to see a lot of my snowbirds start to show back up, and I get to rekindle some of those relationships.
I received a couple emails this past month with questions that I will try to answer. The first one has to do with the effect of the noise that an outboard motor has on the fishing. It certainly is not a good thing. The noise of an outboard tends to have a different effect on different species of fish. Water depth is very important with the results. The deeper the water, the less negative impact you will have from an outboard motor. In shallow water, it is a little more crucial. Snook, trout, and flounder do not normally get too bothered by this. The bigger fish may be cautioned by it, but as a whole it’s not that much of a deterrent. Redfish, on the other hand, will normally not put up with any kind of unnatural sounds. I have had schools of redfish move away at a brisk pace at the sound of my trolling motor running from 100 yards away. For most anglers, that’s just part of the attraction of the hunt and the satisfaction of the catch. Keep in mind that there are exceptions to everything. The best approach is always a quiet approach, and getting the bait as far away from the boat as you can is best. The second question that I received has to do with my writing skills. It was brought to my attention that I have several grammar issues and that I do not punctuate properly. True and true. I am not an educated writer and readers of this column should thank their lucky stars that my computer has spellcheck. Rest assured, there is not a lack of effort. Keep the questions coming. Remember: don’t let your kid be the one that got away, take them fishing. For charter information, I can be reached at (813) 601-2900, email CaptainRic@msn.com, or visit www.ReelSimpleFishing.com.

GFWC Stuff & Sew Donation GFWC Lutz-Land O’ Lakes Woman’s Club members recently held a marathon “stuff & sew” project and produced a mountain of comfort pillows, which were donated to Ovarian Cancer Advocates and Spokespersons Katina Johnston and Carole Martinez, who are Board Members of Ovacome Gynecologic Cancer Alliance. These pillows will be distributed through local doctors’ offices and St. Joseph’s ob/ gyn surgical department. The pillows will be placed in “comfort bags” along with hygiene and fragrance items for post-surgical recuperation. Ms. Johnston and Ms. Martinez, both of whom are ovarian cancer survivors, spoke to the Woman’s Club members and took questions on the topic of ovarian cancer. The message from the speakers was to trust your gut, listen to your body and know the
symptoms of ovarian cancer. September has been designated as Ovarian Cancer Month and teal ribbons are worn to bring awareness to the uphill fight against this disease. For more information on the Woman’s Club which is a local service organization, please visit the website at www.gfwclutzlandolakeswomansclub.org.

The Complete Story of the Feeding of the 5,000 Continued from page 1 Phillip answered that two hundred denarii would not be sufficient to feed everyone in the multitude with even a little bread. Matthew records that the disciples suggested to Jesus that He send the people away from the desert place so that they could go into the villages and buy something to eat (Matthew 14:15). Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” Mark records that the disciples asked Jesus if they should go and spend the two hundred denarii that they had in the treasury to buy the people something to eat (Mark 6:37). But Jesus asked them, “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” John reports that Andrew said, “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?” (John 6:9). Jesus replied, “Make the people sit down.” There was a large grassy place so that 5000 men and their families could sit down. There were probably 20,000 people in all. Jesus then took the loaves and fish and thanked God. Matthew, Mark, and Luke record that Jesus blessed the bread and the fish and broke them into pieces. He then placed the pieces as they multiplied in His hands into 12 baskets, one for each of His disciples to carry about and distribute to the people. In John 6:11 it says that everyone ate as much as they wanted. This could only mean that the fish and loaves continued to multiply in the hands of the disciples as they broke the bread to distribute to the people. There is no way that each basketful could feed 1/12 of that multitude (up to 1,600 people)! And as the day was already far gone, there would not have been time for the disciples to keep returning to Jesus to have Him multiply the food.
When everyone was full, Jesus said, “Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.” (John 6:12) And they gathered 12 basketfuls. It is the opinion of this writer, knowing how the law of sowing and reaping works, that the 12 baskets of food were the return that the young boy who gave his lunch received for his generous sowing. When Jesus sent His disciples out to find out what the multitude had among them, they must have told the people that Jesus was asking if anyone had any food. Out of the 20,000 people there, only one little boy came prepared with food, but he was willing to give his only meal to Jesus, not knowing what Jesus was about to do. As far as the little boy knew, he was willing to go hungry so that Jesus could eat. I believe that the significance of the 12 baskets was that each disciple had to carry a basket back to the boy and his family as part of their learning experience. They needed to know how generous an abundant provision the Lord really is to those who sow with a pure heart.
The disciples obviously saw that when they were doing the Lord’s bidding, they were partnering with Him in the miraculous, for they experienced the miracle with their own eyes and hands. Another interesting note about the miracle of the feeding of the five thousand is that this is the only miracle that Jesus performed that is recorded by all four Gospel writers. It leads us to wonder if this should be considered the most important miracle that Jesus performed. And it is also interesting to note that this is a provision miracle. Some might say that I am taking to much literary license to suggest that Jesus gave the 12 baskets of fish and loaves to the little boy as a return for his giving, but the Lord has never rebuked me as I have told the story hundreds of times. Neither has Jesus corrected me when I tell what I believe about the widow who gave the two mites in the Temple treasury as recorded in Mark 12 and Luke 21. You remember in the story that Jesus pointed out to His disciples that this widow
gave more than anyone else who had given in the offering. He said that everyone else gave “out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.” (Mark 12:44) Now I cannot believe that Jesus watched this woman without out responding in some way, knowing by a “word of knowledge” that she loved God so much that she was willing to give him all that she had. This generous act of worship was so important to the Lord that He called His disciples to Himself in order to point it out. I believe that Jesus took the ministry’s purse from Judas and came to the woman privately and emptied the purse into hers. I also believe that He commended her with some words such as, “Since you sowed bountifully, you shall reap bountifully,” and “The Father loves a cheerful giver.” When teaching on these two stories, the Lord has never stopped me. He can certainly correct me at any time. But when I get to heaven, I will be very surprised if what I have just told you does not in fact turn out to be “the rest of the story.” Dr. Doug Wingate is President and Founder of Life Christian University, which operates 114 campus locations throughout the world from the International Headquarters and Main Campus in Lutz, FL. Adjuster For Insurance
Most insurers focus their profits for the stockholder instead of the policyholder. Your claim that was underpaid or denied outright is very likely covered and you were not paid fairly or at all. Contractors that work with insurers to get you paid commit a felony and make you complicit also. A current example is roofing. Roofers say your roof was damaged by hail, but the roofer is getting your roof for his business. What about the insulation that got wet or the stains/mold on/in the ceilings/walls? They can’t help with that, but we can. We are state-licensed and available to assist you whenever there is a need for a home or business claim. By law, if we do not recover any more money than you have already received, then you owe us nothing. We are licensed professionals employed by the policyholder, skilled in all aspects of your claim, and will inspect your loss, analyze the data, review your coverages, write an estimate, and negotiate a fair settlement for you. If we get more money than you have received, how can you go wrong? Call us at AAA Claim Consultants, Inc. 813-969-1010 or check us out at www.3Aclaim.com.

isn’t a good fit, chances are another will be just right,” said Ferrell. “Most volunteers look forward to the chance to learn new things and meet new people.” The volunteer team at Life’s Treasures includes people from all walks and stages of life – retirees, empty nesters, full and parttime professionals, job-seekers, stay-at-home moms/dads, college students, and teens 14 and up. Volunteers accept donations, sort and price items, display merchandise on the sales floors, run the cash registers, and assist customers with their purchases. The time commitment is eight hours per month (or two four-hour shifts). Schedules
Ierna’s Heating & Cooling
are flexible and no retail or volunteer experience is required. Proceeds from sales provide needed funds for uninsured patient care; free community grief support programs for adults, teens, and children; end-of-life care education for USF medical students; and caregiver programs for patients with frail or elderly family members. Ferrell is hosting three days of volunteer information sessions later this month, listed below. Two sessions are offered each day. RSVP to 813-357-5321 or ferrella@chaptershealth.org. If leaving a message, be sure to include the location and time of the session you plan to attend.
