Design House is known for intricate detail and unique textures and finishes in every piece. The House of Buccellati has produced jewels for many royals and film stars. As the House gained international acclaim, they opened shops in Rome, Florence, New York, and West Palm Beach. After Mario died in 1965, sons, Gianmaria and Luca established new shops in Hong Kong, Japan, Monte Carlo, Paris, Sardinia, Milan, Venice, Capri, Elba, New York, Beverly Hills, providing closer access to devoted clients. At the same time, two of Mario’s other sons, Federico and Lorenzo, embarked on jewellery endeavours of their own. With all branch locations now reunited into a single company, Buccellati continues to produce unique jewels in small workshops with artisans of many generations associated with the House.
CARLO GIULIANO A protégé of Alessandro Castellani, Carlo Giuliano travelled from Italy to London and established a shop for Castellani. He then established his atelier in Britain. Giuliano brought his unique style to the jewellery of the late 19th century. Experimentation with enamel gained Giuliano a global reputation for the delicacy of his work. The use of black and white enamels in combination was a trademark style. Giuliano, like Castellani, experimented with ancient styles and designs from antiquity. However, Giuliano eventually focused on inspirations from the Renaissance, producing intricate jewels that are often equally beautiful on the front and the back. The next generation, Carlo’s sons, Carlo and Arthur, continued until 1914, with the tradition of designing the now highly desired jewels inspired by antiquity and the Renaissance. 2 7 4
of the Canadian West, he arrived in Vancouver. There he made his fortune by creating fine jewellery for society women, including the Queen. In 1971 he was commissioned to make a necklace of locally-mined gold and jade to mark a royal visit. Underway, the modernist art movement in the Vancouver of the ‘50s and ‘60s brought Cavelti’s work to its full flowering and helped establish his national and international reputation. CHAUMET The history of Chaumet dates back to 1780 and is closely interwoven with the history of France. The wedding of Napoleon and Josephine and the Archduchess Marie-Louise de HabsburgLorraine, niece of Queen Marie-Antoinette, brought Chaumet numerous sumptuous orders. Chaumet became the most famous jeweller in Europe and built up a prestigious clientele.

Chaumet created simplified designs within rigid geometric outlines of the Art Deco period in the 1920s and ’30s. Responding to the continuous social, economic and artistic changes, Chaumet has maintained its legendary reputation. Design is determined by the excellent taste of the contemporary Parisienne, always in search of something new, different and sumptuous. CHOPARD In 1860, in the Swiss village of Sonvilier, LouisUlysse Chopard, a talented timepiece craftsman, established his workshop. His watches were quickly recognized for their quality and were soon in demand throughout Europe. Chopard has developed into a brand known for its fine timepieces and joyful jewels, with styles such as Happy Diamonds and watches as reliable as they are a pleasure to wear. FRANCK MULLER In the late 1980s, two men, Franck Muller and Vartan Sirmakes, made the bold move to establish a company focusing on exceptional timepieces. The slogan of Franck Muller is Master of Complications, and this label is earned through the continued experimentation and exploration into the complexity of the modern watch. Franck Muller’s timepieces are exceptional both in their technical accomplishment and in their elegance of design. FRED At the age of 28, Fred Samuel established his first jewellery store in Paris at six rue Royale in 1936. The son of a jeweller, he was an inventive promoter. Through his charm and connections, he always stayed in the spotlight in Paris society. Fred designs continue to captivate the sophisticated jewellery buyer with a solid international reputation and charm and simplicity. His guiding principles: Boldness and discipline.

In 1911 Garrard undertook two acclaimed commissions: Queen Mary’s Crown for the Coronation and the Imperial Crown of India worn by King George V later that year. In 1937 the crown set with the Koh-i-Noor diamond was made for the late Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother. Garrard remounted the Imperial State Crown in 1937 and then further adjusted it for H.M. The Queen for the Coronation in 1953. Ceremonials have always been a critical element in the company’s heritage. They created the presentation trophy for the 1848 America’s Cup and have been involved with the modern-day pageantry of the Dubai World Cup, the Cricket World Cup, and the Premier League Trophy. GIRARD-PERREGAUX In 1852, Constant Girard founded the Girard & Cie firm. Two years later, he married Marie Perregaux, and in 1856 the union of their surnames gave rise to the Girard-Perregaux company. In 1880, Constant Girard developed a wristwatch aimed at German naval officers; two thousand watches would be made. This production represented the first significant market sale of wristwatches. In 1970, the company leaned towards quartz movements,
Using the catchline ‘The Most Fabulous Jewels in the World,’ Graff is synonymous with luxury. Graff jewels are offered to exclusive clients worldwide with stores in significant jewellery and design centres. GUBELIN Gubelin’s origins in Lucerne, Switzerland, began in 1854. It started as a watchmaker’s shop founded by Jakob Josef Moritz Breitschmid. The business has bridged the development of profound changes in the watch, jewellery and gem world. Gubelin has developed into a very important jeweller through many generations, focusing on fine gems. An interest in gems led to the study of gemmology and the establishment of a specialty gem laboratory under the same name. Jewellery buyers have relied on Gubelin’s understanding of gems to be able to produce the finest jewellery. GUCCI In Florence, 1921, Guccio Gucci opened a leather good and luggage store. He was inspired by the leather goods he saw while working at the Savoy Hotel in London. The English horse set was quite likely the inspiration for the horse-bit shapes that would become representative of Gucci and continue as iconic symbols of the brand today. Many

then switched their focus back to classic watch movements but continued to research quartz. In 2007, Girard-Perregaux opened its first Boutiques in China, in Beijing and then Shanghai. Girard-Perregaux remains at the forefront of developments in timekeeping, including advanced quartz movements focusing on complex and sophisticated mechanisms.
Ilias Lalaounis comes from a family of goldsmiths and watchmakers. He joined the family business, Zolotas, in 1940. By the 1960s, Ilias was most interested in exploring themes inspired by ancient Greek civilization, and by 1969, had established an independent company to focus on his interests. LONGINES Established in 1832, the Longines watch company became known for innovation in manufacturing and marketing. The intense focus on the North American market produced a strong demand. PIAGET In 1874, in La Côte-aux-Fées, a small Swiss village Georges Édouard Piaget started his first workshop on the family farm and devoted himself to making high-precision movements that he soon began furnishing to the most prestigious brands. In 1943, the company decided its movement factory from La Côte-aux-Fées would produce watches signed by and sold under its brand. In 1957, Piaget began to design and build the ultra-thin movements, and by 1960, Piaget launched the world’s thinnest self-winding movement. It measured just 2.3 mm thick. In 1979, they launched the Piaget Polo watch. Avant-garde, yet classic enough never to go
