idgway is a destination full of rich history, an array of arts and culture, and home to an engaged and friendly community. Whether you visit our area for leisure, business, or you’re just passing through, Ridgway is ready to welcome you. This Visitor’s Guide will give you an inside look at everything our area has to offer. No matter the reason for your visit, I think you will find that Ridgway has even more to offer than you may have expected. Be sure to check out our great selection of restaurants, take a stroll through the Ridgway Farmers Market, or catch a show at the Sherbino Theater. Outdoor enthusiasts have no shortage of choices when it comes to Ridgway. The Ridgway Area Trails are an amazingly accessible trail system, right in and around Ridgway, and provide residents and visitors with the opportunity to be as active as they desire. The Uncompahgre River is a gem of a fly-fishing destination in our state. The river flows through
some of the state’s best scenery and holds an excellent fishery below Ridgway Reservoir. Speaking of the reservoir, paddle boarding has become an extremely popular activity there, and I’d encourage you to check it out. I spent part of my upbringing here on the Western Slope, specifically in Ridgway. With tons of fond memories of this area and a passion for being outside, I was thrilled to have the opportunity late last year to move my family to Ridgway and become part of this wonderful community. My family absolutely loves this town and I’m positive that you will, too. I hope that your visit is a memorable experience and you share it with others. Meet Preston… years in ridgway: I spent a ton of time in
favorite local destination: My favorite place to be, Ridgway before moving here last year. I was hands down, is wading in the Uncompahgre very familiar with the fabric of the community River while trying to dupe a fish into eating and excited to become a part of it. an artificial fly off of my fishing line. I may not be the best fly fisherman, but I sure do role as town manager: I oversee municipal relish being outside. operations and work to carry out the
directives of the Town Council. I’m charged with ensuring that we maintain a high level of service delivery, remain responsive to our citizens, and work to meet their needs.

My vote is for the scenery up at Lake Otonowanda, off of County Road 5, and the absolutely fantastic panoramic view of the San Juan Mountains.

Ridgway was designated by the International Dark-Sky Association in July 2020, as the second Dark Sky Community on Colorado’s Western Slope and only the third in the state due to its amazing, clear night-sky views.
