PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Year in and year out, I continue to be amazed and so incredibly proud of the way our Lords athletes represent Durham College. From our conduct on the court, diamond or field, to the countless team and individual successes we enjoy, and the ability to balance academics with varsity sports, our studentathletes continue to represent Durham College exceptionally well.
On behalf of our students, faculty, staff and Board of Governors, I extend a heartfelt congratulations to all of our student-athletes and varsity staff on an outstanding and successful 2012-2013 season! You have given everyone on campus many reasons to cheer and celebrate. All of us at Durham College understand the commitment required to be a success both in the class and on the court. Your leadership and dedication to your team will serve you well in the years ahead as you graduate and go on to make a difference in the world.
Congratulations again. Your commitment to your sport, studies and the college have helped bring to life the college’s mission that the student experience comes first. Go Lords! Don Lovisa President Durham College

ATHLETIC DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE Dear Student-Athletes, Coaches and Fans;
The Department of Athletics is pleased to provide you this outstanding souvenir Athletic Yearbook that captures the entire 2012-13 Varsity athletic season. The tradition of excellence at Durham College has continued this year with many provincial and national profiled successes to celebrate. DC continues to be a leader in the province in varsity athletics. We continue to lead both on the field /court and in the classroom and we are extremely proud of everyone involved with our programs in the forefront and behind the scenes. We were able to record many significant individual and team accomplishments and numerous memorable moments, which are reflected in the pages to follow. Durham has developed a great tradition of success in College Athletics, not only in Ontario but across Canada. This trend continued in 2012-13 because of the hard work of our student-athletes, dedication of our coaches, and incredible support by our athletic staff and support teams all working towards one common goal! Not to mention Green & Gold PRIDE! In addition, I would like to sincerely thank the many areas of our campus that support DC varsity athletics: the print shop, IT services, facilities, health services, athletic therapy, student services, registrar's office, admission & recruitment, grounds maintenance, financial aid office, residence, media services, campus safety and security, aramark, faculty, photo ID, senior administration and the Student Association. Without all of this team like support, DC athletics would not be as successful as it is.
We continue to attract top student-athletes from across Ontario and beyond and we continue to boast one of the best coaching staffs in the country. All this makes up the amazing recipe for success that Durham College has enjoyed for over 40 years. For those of you graduating this spring, we wish you all great success in your future and we ask you to stay close to the Lords Family through Alumni events, special events, website and social media. We will miss you. If you are reading this yearbook as a potential new varsity athlete, we would love to have you and your family visit us for a tour of our amazing facilities and beautiful campus. We think you will be blown away when you visit Durham College. Lastly, if you are a returning athlete, we look forward to the fall of 2013 and welcoming you back for another exciting season of DC varsity athletics.
Cheers to another great year!

VICE PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE The student experience comes first.
As a Durham College varsity athlete, you are a recognized student leader on our campus. Your determination, initiative, teamwork and superior athletic ability earned you a position on our varsity team. You have set records in golf, fastball, volleyball, soccer, baseball and basketball that will raise the bar for our future athletes.
Varsity athletics at Durham College is synonymous with student success, winning teams, and a positive post-secondary experience for students. Our 2012-13 season has set the standard in varsity athletics yet again with another record year of individual and team accomplishments on both the Provincial and National scenes. Individual awards include 13 OCAA All-Star awards, 24 OCAA All-Academic awards, 3 CIBA All-Academic awards and 5 CCAA All Canadian Awards. In golf this season, Durham College won silver at the 2012 OCAA Women’s Golf Championship and the Men’s team won bronze at the CCAA National Championship. Our Women’s Fastball team won both the silver at the OCAA Championship and the National Championship. Our women’s volleyball won the OCAA Eastern Region Championship. Durham College successfully hosted the 2012 PING CCAA Golf National Championship at the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club. We are especially proud of Shane Christopher, Women’s Volleyball coach, who won the OCAA Coach of the Year award.
As I complete my 27 year career at Durham College, I would like to take this opportunity to recognize the significant contribution that varsity programming has made to our college’s provincial and national reputation. Special thanks to Ken Babcock, Director of Athletics, for his vision and dedication to developing the number one provincial team of varsity and athletic student affairs professionals who are committed to making the student experience come first. This mandate is accomplished by dedicated staff and expert coaches who make the varsity experience a momentous part of our students' college education.
If you are a graduating student, I believe your experience in varsity sports will contribute significantly to your career success. If you are a returning student, we look forward to seeing you as a senior member of our Durham Lords varsity program next year.

WOMEN’S SOCCER Initially receiving this position I knew that I proved to myself, to my team mates and to my coaches that my first year of hard work and dedication paid off. With having "big cleats" to fill from the previous outstanding captain Jennifer Lynne, I knew keeping the same momentum was important. From that time until now I am so grateful to have been given this opportunity to lead such a rewarding group of players. They all bring something different to the field that contributes to make this team valuable as a whole. I would like to say thank you to both coaches and players as they imprinted another set of standout memories that remind me aside from the discipline and battles, the passion and enjoyment of the sport never dissipates. The position of captain is a great responsibility and a big trust factor. The player's know that they can come to me with any problems that they have and I can pass them on to the coaches. The coaches know that they can always turn to me when a big play needs to happen in the game to change the tempo of the game to our benefit.
I am truly truly honored to be captain of such a great team. Each and every player on the team deserves credit for our outstanding season this year. I am really blessed to be on a team that wants to work hard to benefit not only ourselves but as a team in general.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
As the captain of the Women’s Basketball Team this positions means a great deal to me. I need to be on top of everything both athletically and academically. I need to be able to communicate and motivate everyone on the team to work hard and play harder. Also I need to reinforce to players that basketball is a team sport and when playing as a team we can accomplish so much more. This season was a tough year, but I know this team will bounce back and work a lot harder to have a better outcome next year. I’ve enjoyed meeting the new additional players and I’ve made friendships that will last a life time. I want to thank all the players that made it an enjoyable season even with our outcome. Moreover, I want to thank the coaching staff, Tim Baulk, Andrew Ilkiw, and Erin Emery, for all their hard work and dedication. Next season we are working to come out on top and next year’s season starts now. And with the dedication and determination we will achieve our goal.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL Being the team captain is rewarding. I am there to show the new players the ways of our team, to support and encourage each member throughout the year, to be someone that the girls can look up to and look to for advice and to ultimately watch the girls grow individually and come together as a family and team. It was a great pleasure playing with you all this year! I am so proud of what we as a team came together to accomplish! I couldn't have asked for a better group of ladies to share this experience with.

It has been the same way each year; everyone comes together to try and reach the main goal. This year was no different everyone meshed on and off the court and came together to be the team that we were. (Beast in the East) When it came time to play we left it all on the court and I wouldn’t change anything if I could, love you guys. I hope it continues into the future. I would also like to say a thank you to the coaches, trainers and Durham College staff to make this possible. We couldn’t have accomplished what we did without you. Thanks for the great years and good times,
Steven Clarey
