The Art of High Jewellery Making
from Durrah 59
Visitors discovered Boghossian’s newest and most exquisite jewellery in a ‘cabinet of curiosities’ at the heart of its booth. An array of opulent jewels took center stage held solely by the tension of silk cords –a material chosen for being the most precious good traded on the Silk Road, where the Maison was born in 1868. Designed by the Danish Kufstudios, these silk cords intertwine with richly lacquered showcases brought to life by acclaimed Lebanese designer Nada Debs, underlining, yet again, cultural dialogue and the beauty that arises from it.
Boghossian champions simplicity, lightness and fuidity, calling on technological innovation to achieve an effortless harmony between Eastern and Western styles, between tradition and modernity, and between gemstones and design.
Jewellery creations that highlight the magnifcence of nature’s greatest gemstones were presented at the event. Intricate, decorative motifs draw on the opulence of Oriental art and architecture, with vibrant colors and feminine curves evoking the glamour and grandeur of the East. These ancient sources of inspiration are reimagined in pure, contemporary pieces, crafted with the utmost precision.
Novelties presented included the multi-color Paraiba, Conch and Diamond Necklace and Earrings set, a lyrical composition between natural conch pearls and Paraiba tourmalines, the ‘Kissing’ Multi Color Gemstone and Diamond Detachable Necklace set in rock crystal and multi-color melées, with a cushion-shaped mint tourmaline topped by a diamond in the center, and the yellow gold and diamond ‘Merveilles’ Halo line, a new twist on the beloved and bold collection.
Underlining Boghossian’s artistic heritage and commitment to bridging Eastern and Western design, culture and dialogue, is its Foundation. Villa Empain, an Art-Deco landmark in Brussels, is home to the Boghossian Foundation. Open to all, the Villa promotes the universal language of art as a force for positive social change. boghossianjewels.com
Within its booth in the VIP Salon, a retrospective was on display to visitors, exploring the evolution of the Villa Empain, from its beginnings in the 1930s, to its role today as the headquarters of the Boghossian Foundation.
