The Ultimate Art of Haute Joaillerie

For the 76th Cannes Festival, Caroline Scheufele has designed no less than 76 Haute Joaillerie masterpieces, an array of fascinating works reflecting the boundless curiosity of Chopard’s Co-President and Artistic Director. The prominent place she occupies in the creative world, her prolific travels and the artists she encounters continually hone her vision and open up vast realms of inspiration that she brilliantly reinterprets through these treasures.

A flair for perceiving and capturing details. The ability to glean – from architecture, museums, galleries, conversations, nature or starry nights – a range of fragments contributing to the essence of a creation. Therein lies the talent of Caroline Scheufele, who is able to embrace all the beauty of the world to assemble the wherewithal to shape the Haute Joaillerie collections she designs for Chopard. Mingling the Artistic Director’s creativity with ageold jewellery-making expertise passed down from generation to generation in the Chopard workshops, the Red Carpet Collection brings a whole range of emotions to the red carpet.

Annually creating an Haute Joaillerie collection featuring the exact number of jewellery masterpieces matching the latest edition of the Festival represents an incredible challenge that is masterfully met each year by Chopard. Each piece of jewellery in the Red Carpet Collection thus highlights the talent and expertise of the Maison’s Artisans. To express Caroline Scheufele’s creative spirit, they explore the ultimate in innovation: from employing new materials such as titanium to using novel stone-cutting techniques. From design to volumes, from gold craftsmanship to precious stone mastery, these gifted Artisans combine their talents in giving life to this collection. It symbolises the quintessence of classic jewellerymaking know-how and carefully preserved tradition, nurtured by a fresh eye and a truly avant-garde spirit. One-of-a-kind models imbued with exceptional history and spirit come into being, borne by the fertile impetus of Caroline Scheufele’s chosen affinities with the world of the arts.

Caroline Scheufele draws inspiration from her travels, which she jots down in her travel diaries. It is the curiosity inherent in her approach to the world that fosters her creativity. Architecture, painting, literature, dance, music or cinema: any detail is enough to spark dreams of splendid adornments in this passionate devotee of precious stones. Witness this incredible ring whose central yellow sapphire is supported by a group of antique-style sculptures carved in gold and attired in brilliant-cut diamonds; or a dog-collar necklace composing a veritable anthem to poetry with diamond feathers skilfully crafted to form gossamer-light volutes. Nature, the first artisan of all, also remains a powerful source of inventiveness, as embodied in a series of resembling beautiful butterflies that appear to alight on the silhouette with a flutter of their dainty wings. Chopard makes a point of honour of respecting Nature and works exclusively with the most exceptional gems, shaped by the Earth over the ages. The Maison is the gold standard on the Haute Joaillerie scene in terms of expertise and a selective approach to precious stones – with only the most extraordinary inspiring the jewellery creations in the making with their colour, volume, transparency and unmistakable aura. From discoveries made around the globe, Caroline Scheufele discerns the treasure to which her imagination gives life. The next Red Carpet Collection is set to reveal some unprecedented gems. chopard.com
