Durrell Smith

Durrell Smith is inspired by exploring man's connection with nature and the lessons that nature teaches us. He spends his time in the outdoors to receive the energies and messages transmitted through nature to create works that highlight a southern vernacular and perspective on his millennial, African-American experience. Embracing the histories of our ancestors and orating the stories on an early childhood, learning, building, and crafting in his grandfather's backyard, what he calls the "Garden of Eden", he sees his work as. an exploration to create for God, for the Church (both literally and figuratively) and for the Museum.
