In Berlin, the dissolution of the communist system, from 1989, marks the end of a dual city and of differing and incompatible urban policies. That moment introduces the search of a contemporary cultural identity. If, even two decades ago, people abandon the city in hunt for a career or a better life, today, Berlin seems to attract large investments, artists and people from everywhere. The city is becoming the biggest central Europe cultural epicenter and, consequently, a remarkable Weltstadt.This dissertation seeks to deepen and understand how is, in Berlin, the global scale attractiveness phenomenon processed and which cultural factors allocate this city into a wider discussion on contemporary urbanity. ...
