˃ Susanne de Graef at LMAK Gallery April 27 – June 18, 2017 298 Grand Street, New York Studio Susanne de Graef’s solo exhibition Light Enlightened features the highly-acclaimed Rhythm of Light collection and the US premiere of Glint Light collection. In Light Enlightened, Studio Susanne de Graef invites the viewer for an exclusive look into the curious world of light. The exhibition focuses on the way in which light unravels and how this sensory experience is transformed into lighting pieces. ˃ Stefan Hengst at Collective Design Fair May 3 – May 7, 2017 550 Washington Street, New York Dutch designer Stefan Hengst designed an installation FRACTURED that will transform the fair’s entry with a series of varied, digitally printed works. The multi-layered art piece has been created using a variety of fabrication techniques and will incorporate intricate stitching superimposed atop a digitally fabricated work. FRACTURED explores the porous boundaries between art and design and conveys multiple points of view, sparkling a dialogue between tradition and modernity. Reflecting and honouring the complicated world we inhabit, the installation is digitally produced by FaberExposize (The Netherlands). > Dutch design at Arita 2016/ in MoMA Design Store May 10, 2017 44th West 53rd Street, New York MoMA Design Store announces the exclusive US launch of Arita 2016/, a new contemporary porcelain brand designed in collaboration with Japanese craftsmen. The collection combines the talents of ten potteries, renowned for their production of porcelain, with sixteen international designers. Arita 2016/ will debut at MoMA Design Store during NYCxDesign 2017 and will be available starting May 10, 2017. Led by Creative Directors Teruhiro Yanagihara and Scholten & Baijings, the project aims to revive Arita's once robust ceramics industry dating back over four hundred years through a series of functional, desirable objects that celebrate porcelain in everyday use.
