Dutch Art, Interactive, Film, and Music at

SXSW 2017

> Once again, a myriad of Dutch artists, creatives, and companies will participate in the art, music, film, and interactive programs of South by Southwest (SXSW) between March 10-19. Using art, design, technology and music, the Netherlands will be showcasing its leading position in the world of innovation and creative industries. Dutch creatives and entrepreneurs in the fields of art, AR/VR, gaming, music, film, design, and transmedia storytelling will take the stage in Austin, Texas, where SXSW presents the ideal platform for the Dutch to celebrate their centuries of start-up culture. Spectacular installations combining art and technology, by Nick Verstand and Circus Family, will be featured during the Art at SXSW program, while musicians from bands like Drive Like Maria, St. Tropez and MICH will perform at multiple stages in downtown Austin. Amsterdam Dance Event will host three nights with Dutch DJs representing Dekmantel, Appelsap and Red Light Radio, and a selection of 4 short films, made by Dutch filmmakers, will be part of the SXSW Film Shorts competition, whilst the documentary The European has been added to the program at the EU House. The Interactive segment of the festival has a strong showing of Dutch speakers, panelists and experts in the fields of VR/AR by Next Nature and Daniel Ernst, VR Gaming concepts will be showcased with Square the Circle, a BioHacker meet-up, and Pauline van Dongen will discuss trends in wearables.

In conjunction with the Interactive track, a new initiative called New Dutch Wave can’t be missed on the Interactive Expo floor and at clubs Barbarella and Swan Dive, where a Dutch takeover will be featuring digital and start-up industry as well as highlights from different artistic disciplines. The Dutch island of Aruba is representing the Caribbean start-up scene with a panel featuring ATECH, which focuses on the creation of a local startup tech sector and promoting Aruba and the Caribbean as a global tech hub.
