“DEFINITION OF THE THING” Elizabeth Grosz, Outside from the Architecture, Chapter 10 - The Thing The thing is, not humans’, other than humans, a existence of a world of the objects without before and after, it is based on the essence. This definition takes us to phenomenology which bases the effect on the sensations of the environment. It helps people to understand the design with their senses. The experience of phenomenology opens the perceptions, and tries to tell the relationship between human and architecture. In the progress of forms are being specialized, locations also play a role as much as shapes do. Because of the location of the form that is located in high altitude, while the tension feel on people is planning to evoke, on the other hand, in the form that is on the surface, the effect of the sound consisted of wind flow is emphasized. The biggest form defines the space which presents us an opportunity for a view that we can enter. While the design is guiding people to experimentation, it also becomes an inspiration source to their creativity with the atmosphere that natural environment gives. CAN PEOPLE BE MADE AWARE OF SOUND AGAIN THROUGH PHYSICAL INTERACTION WITH THE CITY? The project begins by looking at lost memories and how they are fading away with time in various forgotten places in the heart of our cities. The dramatic structure is designed to draw attention to the creation of a new shortcut, placed in a busy central area of Ankara and also in a historical place Roman Bath. Collecting sound and then interactive with sound of city in a historical muesum raising the awareness of memories and also city. Tutor: Tolga Hazan Location: Ankara, Turkey

WHAT IF WE COULD DESIGN AIR? WHAT IF THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY OF A FREE GROUND? The ideal place for our own is a palace of myths, openness, thought and refleaction. In other words, the key piece of a jigsaw. In this project, aim is using openspace and vast above the earth. Building a city prototip where we do not except to find a city at all. Atmosphere and air are the main concept and material of the city prototip. Tutor: Prof. Dr. Nur Çağlar Location: Cukurambar, Ankara

The purpose of Common Ground Hotel is designed with different accommodation typologies that are intertwined with interactive spaces suitable for Lisbon, which has become one of the major tourist stops in recent years. Interaction spaces are spaces that facilitate the dialogue between the established social structure and the newcomers, the discovery and development of urban redesign strategies that will influence the creation of living spaces that integrate social building, the visualization through selected design methods, and the communication through a designed architectural object. The refurbishment area, on the one hand, is producing new parts of its own within itself to discard the old, worthless, bad parts and maintain the formal and functional transformation. Tutor: Phd. Vasco Pinheiro Location: Lisbon, Portugal

The re-evaluation of the urban waste generated by the living organism of the city and the urban touch since the collapse of modernism became a new theme of the architectural intellectual environment. At this point, the question “uncanny” emerged in the psychoanalytic search for an answer to the question. Uncanny and Urban Hole concepts have not been described in a historical line, but a conceptual map has been drawn up and tried to examine it with the examples in the urban scale. This experience of the city is essentially communication. Architectural, cultural, social indications offer meaning to the individual. The noise source in architecture, entropy, becomes tainted in terms of architectural meaning, which interrupts the urban fabric. In those interruptions of the city, many layers of complexity are revealed and the result is heterogenous space. As a result, architectural products of these concepts have been examined for the selected AKM and its surroundings. These examinations are intended to provide an interface for other urban waste areas that have achieved an urban experiment. Urban renewal is defined as the recovery process of the urban appearances that suffer from the physical, social, spatial collapse that resists urban development and becomes unqualified and breaks down from the daily life of the city and therefore becomes idolized. Therefore, the urban renewal process is considered as a set of strategies developed to bring back the lost identity of urban appearances through existing local features, original values and symbolic qualities. These strategies are explained by the concept of neighborhood and interaction spaces within the scope of our competition recommendation. In time, people living in today’s cities start to form their own semi-real and utopian worlds with the resources available, in line with their needs. Natural life, natural balance is past. Sustainable future living arrangements have shaped the process of designing the project. This project has a realistic perception besides utopian fiction. Because it defines the point reached by reference to the existing one. In the project, daily life is reinterpreted and integrated with public spaces. In this integration, public spaces were strengthened and spaces where vital needs were maintained were created. Team: Burak Tilbe, Duygu GĂśkoÄ&#x;lu

It is important to be able to convey the feeling of being inside and outside of yesterday, today and tomorrow to the users, who are created by uncertainties, undefined, open, fluid and misty dominance created by misty. It has been adopted to create a free and autonomous space by withdrawing the research center to a quiet but calm position without breaking the continuity within itself. Creating a shift in the continuity we think you lack in your uncertainty and lack of efficiency will bring more creative and passionate desires on the users. The design concept and the place and the place they occupy deserve special attention. They create a strong identity with symbolic references to function and location. The fact that this identity can be created as a powerful entity necessitates the perception of a timeless or all-time space. Without thinking that history is misleading, with the thought of kneading history and space in one another; In BĂźyĂźkada, it was aimed to design a mosque that would respond to physical and spiritual needs, respect the general usage in the bazaar, faith-based and silage. It is foreseen that it is necessary to go out of tradition and maintain it in order to achieve these goals. Team: Azaksu Architects Location: Prince Islands, Istanbul

In principle, inspirational sources of design are based on the “Alevismâ€? doctrine. To this end, based on important principles such as proximity, equal treatment and impartiality, which is an important teaching of the Alevism of the Alevism that persisted for centuries, a circular wall surrounding and surrounding the building complex was formed based on the principle of non-direction. As this circular wall concept is one of the symbols of rationality of Alevism, the design contributed to the sustainability of the tradition. This circular wall surrounding the building complex symbolized circular columns which in turn form irregularities in itself and which have a certain rhythm and which are alternately repeatedly arranged in a row, expressing irregularity as the wall emphasizes. FAVELASCRAPER The Favelascraper project offers a flexible settlement in the rigid structure by using 6x6x6 meters cube units. The project supplies the basic needs of the favela which it contains in a vertical neighborhood by sustainable energy systems including solar panels, wind turbines and rainwater re-use on its structure. It does not affect the culture of the favela. Rather it organizes life by soft control, which means to specify the main borders of the vertical favela, but not to standardize the living space inside the structure. The structure will contain more habitation through time and after approximately 20 years it will start to change the environment around the Favelascraper. CONCEPT SECTION

The building is positioned so that the seating areas of the amphitheater are to the north and perpendicular to the sea. This structure has three different seating arrangements. The second group, which is a seating unit for the disabled, can be reached by a separate ramp from the first group. In the second group, the cafeteria can be transferred. A public space is arranged in front of the main building. This public space has free seating units for non-concert use. The eastern part of the building contains the serving volumes as can be seen from the ground floor plan. The top of these service areas is also proposed as a cruise terrace, which is another public space. Team: Burak Tilbe, Duygu GĂśkoÄ&#x;lu Location: Sile, Istanbul

The future Artisan School in Venice offers the possibility to negotiate with the traditional geometries and continue to play with the logarithmic spiral towards a futuristic vision. The architecture design emerges from the physical representation of the spacial construction of the curve. Every student will be inspired inside the building by the geometric composition of each space. The new building states to a wider audience that Venice is treasuring its tradition and continue to improve its own identity. The design is organized to match the functional requests of the school and in the circulation areas reveal the spatial qualities of the Golden Ratio. Tutor: Prof. Dr. Arch. Social center and Transit station programs are antagonistic as programs with different qualities. The merging of these two programs of different qualities is dealt with in a binding understanding, not a divisive understanding. The architectural concept was built on the natural dynamics of the combination of these programs. Pedestrians meet at cornerless places. Unrivaled spaces offer a formula for natural interaction without pulling the set of motions on the recommended texture. Organic pedestrian movements are targeted to capture the soul.
