PERSONAL AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

This is an essential part of the course which is all about your development as a person To succeed in life, you need more than expertise in your chosen area in Music/Media/Games, you need other 'soft skills' as well, to be able to communicate, work with others, look after yourself, apply for and obtain employment, conduct relationships and be aware of difference in people and society - all things which contribute to you having a successful and fulfilling life. It will cover key areas like how to keep yourself safe, homelessness, drugs and alcohol, health and wellbeing, equality and gender issues, current and global affairs, mental health and resilience, sexual health, relationships and careers and employability. It will also celebrate key dates in the calendar or themes throughout the year like Black History Month, World Mental Health Day, Anti-Bullying Week and National Careers Week, with visiting speakers and organisations to help raise awareness, reinforce learning and bring topics to life.
