Current Portfolio

My name is David Woodruff and I am a recent Master of Architecture graduate of the Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism at Carleton University. I also hold a B.Sc in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Alberta. This portfolio is comprised of original architectural design and related work that I have undertaken and its intent is to showcase my creative potential and design competency. In many respects, it is representative of my interests, pastimes, and ambitions. I am drawn to architecture because it is a discipline where imagination and creativity intersect logic and pragmatism; a complicated mixture of rigor and ambiguity. The challenge of reconciling these competing interests without compromising the integrity of a project plays to my abilities and the strengths of my personality. No other field captures my professional aspirations and creative interests the same way that architecture does. In my education and professional experiences, I hope to create architecture that enriches our experiences and offers new perspectives. I am seeking employment at an architectural firm or in a related capacity to gain experience working in the field and pursue professional registration as an architect. I believe that practicing architecture will allow me to integrate my interests in design, science, and business by engaging the profession’s aesthetic and technical requirements. Coordinating a team of other professionals through the design and construction of a project appeals to the sense of fulfillment I desire in a career and eventually, I would like to work as part of a team specializing in the design and delivery of institutional, civic, mixed-use, and commercial buildings.
