I’ve always dreamed of getting married in a remote location: is it a real possibility? It depends on several factors, such as how remote your venue is and what your overall budget is (for example, if you need to fly or ship in certain suppliers or items). Be mindful of the logistics before confirming your venue: road access, sanitation, electricity, accomodation, etc. as these add up.
I’ve fallen in love with two venues: how do we decide between the two? Begin by approaching the issue in a logical and non-emotional way by drawing up a list of pros and cons for each venue, with the help of your other half. If you can, revisit both venues and try to do so with a critical and objective eye. Ultimately, the best thing that you can do is trust your gut instinct!

My partner and I are from different countries: how do we decide where to get married? Why not host your wedding over both countries, with different ceremonies and parties, 5 months or so apart. If coming to a consensus is difficult, why not host your hen and stag dos in your home countries? That way, you get a unique experience related to your wedding, without conflict.

Starting from Villa Borghese, at Tempio di Esculapio rent a boat and enjoy one of the most beautiful parks in all of Rome. From here Pincio is only a short walk away, and it is perfect to admire Rome from above without the presence of tourists.
Take a taxi to the splendid borough of Trastevere, where each corner is worth capturing! I love this place especially at sunset, it is very romantic and after the sun goes down you can find musicians ready to sing you a serenata.
Just before the sunset, take a stroll along the Tiber. You’ll find the right light to take romantic, unique and stunning photos. Enjoy a walk until Ponte Sant’ Angelo. You’ll see the dome of St. Peter’s, so enjoy the sunset and feel the beauty of my eternal city.

BACK CUT Manon Pascual: Every year we work on a technical aspect. This year I concentrated on the back cut. The dresses are cut to fit perfectly around the body. Whether you have a generous bosom or not, the dress is perfect! That is technically not easy, but we have succeeded.
PERFECT FIT Zahid Hussain: The Marylise bride is chic, but she always appreciates a classic. By starting from the fabric itself, I manage to make very feminine dresses that adjust well and this means we can be economic with the material. I think about the environment and want to limit waste as much as possible.

ALEX FOUND A VINTAGE RING that he fell in love with at a pawn shop. A few days later he called to see if it was still there and was disappointed to learn it had been sold. But, his wife had taken a photo of the ring. She secretly decided to have her jeweler, Mark Broumand, make a custom replica of it! She then decided to plan out a styled wedding shoot so she could surprise re-propose to him for their one-year anniversary. We even did a few outfit changes to make it seem believable! This entire experience of collaborating with other creatives in California was incredible. I’m so honored I was able to be a part of this surprise vow renewal! The inspiration of this shoot was to create something beautifully classic and ethereal with a twist. Using carefully placed candles and a focal-point floral archway that drew attention to the stunning grounds. The team managed to creat a sense of entering an enchanted garden, something that truly evoked a fairy-tale setting.

To design a fairy-tale and enchanted look, it was important to build layers of colour and texture that worked together with no element or shade standing out. Luxurious touches such as the gold rimmed glasses from Duchess and Butler and soft grey tablecloth from Just 4 Linen complimented the rouge and burgundies to further enhance the ethereal setting.
To complete the dream-like theme, stationery featuring calligraphy and flowers from Rebecca Richards Designs perfectly finished the tablescape.

Lorcan & Ruquea Got hitched in the elegant resort town of Marbella, Spain
A
s we were searching for venues, we came across an amazing image of a beautiful amphitheatre. We stumbled upon a pristine venue that happened to be right beside our holiday home in Marbella, Spain. Within a few weeks we had arranged to visit Villa Padierna and within minutes of being there, we knew that this Tuscan inspired palace with its courtyard canals and palm sprinkled, manicured grounds, nestled in the hills of AndalucĂa had to play host to our wedding. The rosy hues of the hotel inspired our pastel palette of blushing peach and pink shades. Our theme was elegant and glamorous but classic with hushed tones and gold accents. It was important for us to have a strong family element and as such, framed photos of family were featured around the venue. Throughout our day music played a huge part of the experience and over dinner, our guests were serenaded with classical music played on an ivory grand piano. Under an immense canopy of white wisteria and magical fairy lights, we took to the white, star lit dance floor for our first dance which ended in the roar of fireworks. Our best memories from the day included a Bollywood dance with two of the bridesmaids, choreographed to surprise the guests and incorporate a traditional aspect. Having Pakistani roots, it was important to blend both cultures into the wedding day. The rolling scenery that acted as the backdrop to the perfect toned aesthetics brought to life by our wedding designer Pedro and the high quality service of Villa Padierna staff is another fond memory. The advice we would give to future brides and grooms is that you can never plan enough. Writing your own vows is a special way to share promises and memories with your partner. When the day is over, the moment that will be eternally cherished is standing in front of the person you love reciting the deeply personal vows from your heart, committing to one another wholly and forever.

Said ‘I do’ against the picturesque backdrop of Lake Como
I
have always dreamed of a wedding in Italy, so our wedding took place in two spectacular venues on Lake Como - Villa del Balbianello for the official registration and Villa d’Este for the wedding reception. Villa del Balbianello was built at the end of the 18th century by Cardinal Angelo Maria Durini, on the site of an ancient Franciscan monastery. In 1988, the last owner Monzino died without issue and donated Villa del Balbianello to FAI (Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano). The villa has been used as the setting for several movies, including A Month by the Lake, Casino Royale, and Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. My amazing mum took on all the organizational processes as finding an agency, venues, etc. We decided to choose a romantic style; soft hues, delicate lighting, plenty of florals, hanging lights, candles, and calligraphy. I was so lucky to find the wedding dress of my dreams on my first trip to the atelier. Bellina was the first dress I tried on and I knew it was going to be the one. It was love at first sight! I felt like a Disney princess. When it came to choosing the bridesmaids’ dresses, I followed the rule - different dresses, colours, patterns and textures. The key is to mix silhouettes, colours, patterns, textures, and prints to match the colour of my wedding dress and flowers (different shades of pink, peach, rose, and blush, multiple metallic shades such as gold, rose gold, and champagne). It was a special day with numerous emotions, but walking down the aisle with my dad is the moment I will cherish forever. Another special moment was dancing to Henry Mancini’s - Moon River from Breakfast at Tiffany’s. This song fills the air with romance and love. To all future brides, try to relax and enjoy every second of your big day. Focus on the good things that are happening and do not let some little things stress you out. W
hen we saw Es Vedra, we felt its beautiful spirit and immediately knew this was where we wanted to bring our friends and family to witness our special union. Our venue had a clear view of Es Vedra with both a ceremony and reception area. When we saw Elixir, our hearts skipped a beat. Nestled on a beautiful cliffside with breathtaking views of Es Vedra and Cala Codolar the location ticked all of our boxes. We were fortunate to have a venue that was already beautifully decorated and needed minimal changes. We wanted the look of our wedding to be modern and romantic, but luxurious at the same time. Rose gold acrylic table numbers and gold acrylic luggage tags were used to add a modern feel. We made it personal by placing our engagement photos around the venue and finished by inserting some fun acrylic signage I had personally handmade. I got my dress from The Wedding Club in London. I fell in love with Berta about five years ago when I saw how modern, sexy yet tasteful her dresses were. As for my hairstyle, I finally found a stylist who was extremely positive and mentioned she will do her best to achieve my dream look. Together we decided to add a ponytail for the evening to help with the humidity and carefree dancing. For makeup, I wanted a natural look, with a pop of red lipstick for my flawless second outfit. If you’re planning a destination wedding, find a local wedding planner who knows the area well to assist you. Most importantly, I would say to enjoy it! Wedding planning can be a bit stressful, however, it is also a wonderful period full of love, creativity, and excitement that you only get to experience once.

Tied the knot admist the beautiful vineyards of Surrey
W
e celebrated our wedding surrounded by our close friends and family in Surrey, UK, in October at the stunning Denbies Wine Estate. Denbies is England’s largest vineyard and one of Surrey’s finest wedding destinations. The venue is nestled within 265 acres of vines in the heart of Surrey Hills with incredible views over the vineyard. The beautifully landscaped vineyard was a perfect natural backdrop for our wedding portraits. This was truly the perfect English wedding location and we fell in love with it straight away. The ceremony was held in the garden room with a soft romantic ambiance set with an all-white elegant floral decor, with ceiling and wall draping, a stunning grand piano and a soloist singing me down the aisle. After the ceremony, guests were welcomed with champagne and canapes outside in the courtyard. The wedding reception was in the conservatory atrium with a central fountain, tropical futures and a huge vaulted glass ceiling letting in a glorious amount of natural light during the day, and a high star canopy of fairy lights, creating the perfect ambiance once the sun went down. For the reception decor, we kept it clean and elegant using white and blush flowers with tall centerpieces and hanging candles. Planning the beautiful wedding with our wonderful and talented wedding planner, Cynthia Ehis, was a lovely and fun progress, as we trusted her completely to bring our vision to life. We had such a fun time working with CyEhis Events and our wedding adventure was filled with joy, and we wanted that same Joy to reflect on our special day.

e had always visualised getting married in Malta, Keith’s parents still live in Malta and we vacation there often so it has a special place in our hearts. The wedding day flowed perfectly and was meticulously organised by Sarah, Michelle and her team. It started with the Catholic mass in Valletta which was followed by the dinner and reception in a beautifully decorated garden where our dream of dancing under the stars came to life. It was good to work with Sarah Young as she ensured we were getting the best value for our money and introduced us to local suppliers who she trusted and had worked with before. The dress was by an Israeli designer, Mira Zwillinger from Browns Bride in London. I fell in love with it as soon as I tried it on. I actually worked with the designer to add a layer of blush into the skirt so it wasn’t completely white. I love muted pastel florals and greenery but wanted to have a very clean and minimal colour palette, which is why the florals and decor were white with greenery. I always knew I wanted a sleek bun with a centre parting, but at the very last minute I changed my mind and went for a low ponytail as it just felt right on the day. For the makeup I wanted a dramatic eye look, the smokey dark eyes and nude lip complimented the sleek hair style perfectly! One of the main challenges was organising 150 guests in terms of flight information, accommodation as well as tips and recommendations. Putting as much information on your website as possible and having printed itinerary cards was very helpful. I would also highly recommend hiring a wedding planner, the knowledge and skillset they bring is invaluable not to mention it leaves you to have fun during the lead up and on the day instead of stressing about last minute updates or changes.

Exchanged vows in the heart of Scotland
W
e are both quite creative and had big ideas of how we wanted the venue to look. The Byre at Inchyra was the second venue we visited and we just fell in love with it! The Byre is a blank canvas that you can put your stamp on and it ticked all of our boxes. The walled gardens at Inchyra are something like out of a romantic fairy tale, the perfect space for the outdoor ceremony we were hoping for, and our guests were blown away. We knew it could be a bit of a logistical nightmare to have a bar and food all set up and served outside, as well as, having our band all in the same place, but to be honest, the team at The Byre worked brilliantly alongside our caterers and the band to make it seamless. I must mention the Apple Orchard aisle, you couldn’t dream of a more perfect setting. We did a lot of things ourselves. Mike is into cooking and he made our wedding favours by filling up cute little jars with Christmas chutney. We sourced some cakes and home baking from local bakeries and cafes for a “dessert table” rather than a wedding cake. Mike’s dad put together a brilliant table plan made from reclaimed wood, and his mum hand chalked penned the table settings, a very nice personal touch. We also picked up the table and floor lighting along with some wall art for the “gentleman’s club” bar from charity shops. Our suits were from Forbes Tailoring based in Glasgow. We picked everything from the lining to the stitching. The colour and fabric choices were extensive but between us and our best man, we managed to create the perfect look for us. To bring out a bohemian vibe, we picked out floaty dresses with hair down for the girls, blending in perfectly with the laid back and glamorous edge we were going for. Our florist dealt with most of the venue decorating. We worked together on a vision and she brought it to life. A huge canopy of green overhead with pops of vibrant pinks and purples. We kept table decorations to an absolute minimum. We did have a few central candles on each table for mood lighting but that was about it.

BIRDCAGE BRIDAL BOUTIQUE Meet the creatives behind Birdcage Bridal Boutique. The family team share with us how they began and what brides should look for when choosing their wedding dress...
How did the Birdcage Bridal Boutique start? It was our Store Manager Bethany’s idea. An established wedding dress shop was moving on, so she had the idea of buying it and turning it into a family business. We quickly learned the best way we could make a great lasting impression was just to be ourselves. We put the ideas of our vision together and created a beautiful shop for brides to have the ultimate bridal experience.
What is your favourite part of each bridal consultation?
Giving each bride the opportunity to feel amazing. The look of pure excitement when they see the huge choice of dresses and know they can try on as many as they need to find ‘the one’. Also, building up a great relationship. We have several brides that are now like family and come back time and again to visit and catch up.
What inspired your choice of designers to supply?
The previous shop stocked Ronald Joyce and Kenneth Winston and we loved their dresses so we decided to continue the relationship. We discovered Sophia Tolli and Jennifer Wren and decided to take them onboard. We just loved these dresses and their different styles.
What bridal trends should we look out for this year?
We have a gorgeous jumpsuit in from our newest designer Paul Zeni. It’s so unique and different but we think 2020 will be the year for something different. The jumpsuit has gained so much interest, especially at a recent wedding fair. It was the talking point of our display.

What are your top tips for choosing the perfect dress to suit your body?
A wedding dress is not like anything else you will ever wear. You really don’t know what will suit you, until you try it on. It’s so easy to assume a ball gown would suit a plus size bride, and a sheath dress would suit a smaller bride, but we’ve seen such a huge mix of different dresses suiting different shapes of people.
Aside from the dress, what is the most important detail of a bridal look?
A smile! The joy and delight the bride feels should be reflected on her face. The bridal party will read the bride’s face as she steps onto our catwalk. Of course, a veil and sparkly accessories can complete the look, but if the dress isn’t right then the smile won’t be there.
Who is the best person a bride should bring to their consultations?
We always suggest not bringing too many people, as everyone has an opinion and often they don’t match everyone else’s. The ideal person to bring, is someone that knows you well, someone that will be honest but also respect your decision. Someone that can see you in the dress, rather than see themselves in it.

I then opened my salon in 2005 and built a steady reputation. Since then I’ve travelled the world training and gaining knowledge and experience.

Every day we have the opportunity to do something new and exciting, I believe 2020 is not just a new decade but a new era and the start of a new phase in my life. WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR LOCATION? Our Uniqueness! Trinidad and Tobago is probably the most unique island of all the islands in the Caribbean. I say this because of our diverse cultures, ethnicities, and traditions which transcend time. THE CRAZIEST REQUEST YOU’VE EVER HAD? I get many daily unrealistic requests and it is usually based on the look or style social media is “selling” that day. I always recommend that you do what looks best on you and bring out the best version

Inspiration comes from motivation and motivation comes from deprivation…We must first sacrifice in order to achieve greatness. “Act by faith, not by Sight.” APART FROM STYLING, DO YOU HAVE OTHER PASSIONS? Lately, I’ve been involved with media and editorial projects. Holding a camera also gives me a new sense of creativity. I’ve recently launched my own series “Koffee with Kerry” doing interviews and reviews. These can be found on my YouTube @kerryology. HOW HAS FASHION CHANGED? Who doesn’t love fashion, but what’s even better is knowing where fashion draws its inspiration from, and that’s the direction I go towards. I don’t think it has changed. CELEBRATIONS LTD Jo-Anne Brown, founder and director of Celebrations LTD, the leading wedding and events company in the Cayman Islands, sat down with us to share the secrets to her success and why couples should choose the Cayman Islands as their wedding destination.
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF? I’ve always had an interest in fashion and decor; it was part of everything I did. As a young girl, I got involved in the Miss Jamaica pageant. In high school, I came up with the idea to organize a dance to raise money for the school. I coordinated the whole event, all four nights of it, and it ended up being very successful. I didn’t think anything of it at the time, but looking back, I can see my inclination to design and plan events started from very early on.

Way back when, a good friend of mine came and asked me if I would plan her daughter’s wedding. She had seen my kid’s parties and how I decorated my home at Christmas and knew that I loved that sort of thing. It was a local, high profile wedding with nearly 300 guests. That wedding was the springboard because a couple of months later, I got another request — and so it went on.
WHY SHOULD COUPLES CHOOSE YOU OVER OTHERS? As a company, we have grown but never outgrown that personal touch. Everybody in the company is involved in every event. That’s what sets us apart. Couples that choose us know they are not only getting a professional planner but a dedicated team. We are not part-time planners or wedding event coordinators. We are independent, and therefore we work just for our customers. We do this full-time, and we dedicate ourselves to bringing meaningful events to life.
WHY SHOULD COUPLES CHOOSE TO GET MARRIED IN THE CAYMAN ISLANDS? Cayman is a small, beautiful, and kind island. You’ll find the friendliest people from all corners of the globe, and Caymanians by nature are very hospitable people. Couples can feel safe about bringing anyone here, from the more senior to young children; the island is so open, so free. There are no gated resorts, and you can enjoy all three islands in complete freedom. We are blessed to have everything at our feet; from crystal-clear waters to glorious sunshine all year round. Not only that, the Cayman Islands is convenient for your guests to travel to with direct flights from New York and London.
WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR ABOUT A WONDERFUL WEDDING YOU HAVE PLANNED RECENTLY. Recently, I had the great privilege of collaborating with CTV in Canada / Crave in Canada and Netflix worldwide for a TV show, “I Do, Redo.” The series is about couples getting a do-over of their wedding day due to things not working out because disaster stuck in one way or another. Our challenge was to get to know the bride and groom and create their dream wedding. I was excited to work with Jessica Mulroney and her designer Caspar Haydar to produce a beautiful beach wedding. We designed everything in-house and planned and delivered it on the day. The result was simply spectacular. The reception and ceremony took place at the Caribbean Club on Seven Mile Beach. As it was a beach wedding, we had to consider what flowers to use. The bride loved pink, so we used about 6000 roses in varying which shades of pink. We created a beautiful cascading archway full of flowers flowing from one side to the other. We created an area on the beach and built an open frame structure covered in lighting with an opulent floral centerpiece running through the center of the table. We decorated it with hundreds of candles plus chandeliers, and it looked magnificent. Next to this, we had a stylized bar decorated with the most beautiful flowers. I’m just dying to see when it comes out this year.
WHAT’S THE BEST MOMENT YOU’VE HAD AS A WEDDING PLANNER? It’s hard to narrow it down to one moment. One moment was from another celebrity bride and groom. They had been to many islands and countries looking for wedding venues. In the end, they chose the Cayman Islands as their destination wedding. I’ll never forget when the groom looked at me and said, “I just need you to know the reason we chose to have our wedding in the Cayman Islands is because of Celebrations.” They could have gone anywhere, but they chose Cayman because of our company, and for me, that was an incredible compliment.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
The outside world inspires my work, everything I do and what I experience has a great impact on my styling. My voyages, my passion for art, fashion, and history are where I draw out ideas to make my weddings stand out. I help my couples’ dreams come true, just like in fairytales, and this is why fables are a huge source of inspiration. I don’t concentrate on the setting or details, but their special atmosphere, which in my opinion, every wedding should have.

WHAT IS THE FIRST QUESTION YOU ASK YOUR COUPLES?

WHY ARE WEDDINGS ON THE AMALFI COAST SO MAGICAL?
During my first meeting with the couple, I ask them to take me through their love story step-by-step. This is perfect to break the ice and it helps to connect with them. It’s essential to understand just what they wish to see on their special day. I want to know: how did they meet? When did they understand that they were meant for each other? Which are their favourite movies and songs? These are a few key elements that will help me visualise the event before starting the preparations.
Well, there are many reasons why. First of all, because the Amalfi Coast is simply breathtaking, and there’s nothing quite like it anywhere else in the world. On top of that, we have traditional elements that stand out: colourful majolicas, the wonderful scent of lemons, music and all the little shops selling local products. All of this comes together to create a magical atmosphere. It’s not a coincidence that the Amalfi Coast is on many people’s bucket list. It’s magical for weddings and always in style for people searching for an unforgettable getaway.

DO YOU HAVE A SIGNATURE STYLE?
I do, and it’s wrapped around four main focus points, the four “E’” of my motto: Estro (Flair), Emozione (Emotion), Eleganza (Elegance) and Etica (Ethics). I do believe that to be a real professional you have to bend your style to the couple’s idea and make sure the first doesn’t outshine the second. We always have to remember that the couple is the true star of the day!

HOW DO YOU ENVISION THE MODERN BRIDE OF 2020?

YOU ARE ALSO AN ENTREPRENEUR, TELL US A BIT ABOUT THAT.
The modern bride is confident and she finds it unnecessary to stun at all costs. The new trends say it all, the 2020 collections are simple, delicate and ethereal. Choosing simplicity over opulence has to do with the bride’s awareness of her qualities, without having to go the extra mile to prove them to everyone else.
I am extremely grateful and I feel very accomplished right now. It has a lot to do with the support I receive from my family, always there for me when a new challenge comes my way. In my years of experience, I found that to be a great wedding planner you also have to be a versatile businesswoman. Designing a wedding doesn’t happen overnight. As a matter of fact, it takes a great set of skills. Time management, for example, is extremely important. You always need to find time to organise events, whilst cutting out moments to help the company’s success growth. In my case, I invested a lot of energy in other projects, as my show Weddings Luxury, my courses at L’Accademia del Wedding, and many brand collaborations. This is how I picture a true entrepreneur, and I hope I’ve done enough for the industry I love.

IS IT TRUE THAT YOU CALL YOURSELF THE WEDDING PLANNER “DELLE DONNE” (OF WOMEN)?
It’s true! I do feel like the wedding planner “delle donne”, I love and respect women! They’re strong, tenacious and they have the courage to believe in their dreams. They’re able to adapt, and they’re always ready to fill a new role in life. I do have an outspoken feminist side. It has to do with the special bond I have with them. They are my biggest fans and I do find their sensibility and creativity that extra something to bring to the table, especially in this field. To find a different angle on something it is always better to ask a woman; as Audrey Hepburn sings “seeing the world through rose-colored glasses” (Sabrina, 1954). ciralombardo.com

I DO WEDDING MOVIES We had a chat with Cara and Barry of ‘I do Wedding Movies’ on why you should book the Cyprus-based videography duo for your special day How do you prepare before a wedding?
Once a couple has booked one of our videography packages, we send them a questionnaire to complete. The information they provide helps us to start planning in advance for their big day. We then organise a face-to-face meeting once the couple arrives in Cyprus, usually a few days prior to the wedding. This informal get together is a vital part of the process as it is an opportunity to break the ice and to get to know our bride and groom a bit better. People can naturally become self-conscious when there is a camera pointing at them so it definitely helps if the person behind the camera is a familiar face. By the end of these meetings, our bride and groom are comfortable in our presence (and vice versa), which ultimately makes for a better wedding movie.
What other kind of movies do you create?
Although we specialise in wedding videography, we also cover advertising campaigns, promotional videos, tutorials, corporate, and any other special celebration, anniversaries and christenings.
How do you make each wedding video different?
Every wedding we film is naturally different in its own way. Some are intimate and low key, some are crazy with people dancing on tables. Although we have a formula we generally follow, every couple is unique, therefore every movie we create will be one of a kind as it is tailor-made for that particular couple. A wedding movie is such a personal thing, no two weddings could possibly be the same.
Which moments do you focus on when creating a wedding movie?
Please introduce yourselves and tell us a bit about how you started I Do Wedding Movies?
We are Cara and Barry, a husband and wife videography team. Originally from London, we took a big leap of faith and moved to Cyprus in March 2019 to launch our wedding videography business. We made the decision to leave our old life and careers behind, combine our attributes and make a fresh start together. So far, this has proved to be a great move for the whole family. Since we launched ‘I do Wedding Movies’ in June 2019, we have grown from strength to strength and achieved not only some outstanding customer reviews, but an excellent reputation which will enable us to build the business going forward. With a first season and many happy brides & grooms behind us, we’ve come to realise that this is what we were meant to be doing.
What makes a wedding in Cyprus one-of-a-kind?
Cyprus is a beautiful sunny island, steeped in tradition, the perfect destination for weddings. There are so many stunning venues, beaches and locations to choose from, and of course, it is the birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love!

We concentrate on all the traditional key events such as morning prep, ceremony, vows, of course, cake cutting, speeches, and first dance, but mainly we pride ourselves on capturing the emotion of the day, the romance, the laughs, and the tears, the special little moments that may otherwise be forgotten. It’s an emotional day for our couples, their families and guests, so that’s what we focus on during each wedding.
Describe your style?
We don’t really ask our couples to pose for us (we leave that to the photographers) and we give very little direction. Our style is romantic and candid with a little fun thrown into the mix.
When a couple comes to you, how do you get inspiration?
We are in contact with our couples right from the point of enquiry. They complete our booking questionnaire which includes some personality-gauging questions such as ‘top 5 films’ and ‘top 5 songs’. This provides our initial inspiration when creating their perfect wedding movie, and Cara will very often have dozens of conversations with the brides-to-be in the months leading up to their big day. In fact, we build quite a bond with our couples, and that’s before we’ve even had our face to face pre-meet. By the time their special day arrives, we have a good idea of their personalities and this has so far proven to make for an amazing movie, tailored to them and their loved ones.

THE BYRE AT INCHYRA Lord and Lady Inchyra take us on a tour of their stylish estate in Perthshire
When did this project first start?
It started in 2012 when we cleared the Byre to have our joint fiftieth birthday party. It was a brilliant space for celebrations that we decided to share with others looking for a fabulous space.
What makes The Byre at Inchyra special for weddings?
It’s an amazing building! The main party space is square, which means that everyone feels involved. The dancefloor is right in the middle of everything so that even guests who aren’t up for dancing feel included. One of the best things about the Byre is its flexibility – nothing is set in stone, you can hold a ceremony in the intimate Stable Room, or in the Main Byre, or outside-we always say that there are so many choices at Inchyra that no two weddings are ever the same.
Your venue is one of the most stylish estates in Scotland, what is your secret?
Which are the best spaces for the wedding ceremony and for the reception?
We have the intimacy of the Stable Room for ceremonies up to about 110, then there’s the Lower Byre space which can hold indoor ceremonies up to about 180. And then there are endless options for outdoor ceremonies – but probably the most amazing is the beautiful Walled Garden with its historic Apple Tree Aisle. I still can’t see a bride walk up through the trees without crying! And it’s the same with reception spaces – anything from the Walled Garden to the front lawns of the main house to the Byre itself.

We honestly think Scotland and Inchyra, in particular, have something to offer year-round. The Byre is so beautiful in the winter with warm colours and fires roaring that it’s just as perfect as on a hot summer’s day.
The best part of getting married at The Byre?
Apart from the fact that it is an incredibly inclusive and flexible event space – I like to think that we offer the best of all worlds to our couples. The Byre is a blank canvas venue, which so many couples are looking for. We have a fabulous full-time events team to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Attention to detail I think. We never stop creating, developing and maintaining. It also helps that the main team at Inchyra have really good individual skills. I’m also a fabric designer and I work on the aesthetics, my husband James is a Chartered Accountant so he’s all over the business side and my brother Tim has worked in events for years; so the combination of the three of us is fantastic. We are always on the move too. At the moment, we’re working on a woodland space close to the Byre which will be amazing for photos and perhaps a fire pit in the evening.

When is the best time to get married in Perthshire?
How soon should the couple book your venue?
We do get booked up quite far ahead but there are usually options for midweek weddings in the fairly short term so we are still taking midweek bookings in the autumn of this year.
Once the venue is booked, the next step is?
Contact suppliers. We are different from many blank canvas venues by offering couples amazing back up through our great events team so that we can hold their hand through the wedding maze as little or as much as they want. We have also invested significantly in an online event management system so every aspect of the wedding is held in an online account that we can then use to help our couples bring things together. The only suppliers that we have an approved list for are caterers and bars – and there’s a really good reason for this. We learned quickly that food and wine are the two things that you simply can’t tell from a website-you need both to be good and there’s no way you can tell unless we’ve road-tested them.
