He may have homes on both sides of the Atlantic, but apparently Harry still suffers with a lack of wardrobe space. Apparently, somewhere in London lies a chilled vault with cameras keeping close surveillance on his clothes. Who else is hoping there’s a feather boa wall?

Within one week of its release, Harry’s House had topped the album charts in a whopping 17 countries and made a Harry a world record holder for swift sales of vinyl (beating ex-girlf Taylor no less.) But fans weren’t only admiring the music. Sales of baggylegged skater-style jeans like the Molly Goddard ones he’s wearing on the cover are reportedly enjoying ‘a moment’ too. Have you got yours?
Many questions have been asked about the cover of Harry’s House. Why was
the sofa upside down? Why did he look like a thinking face emoji? Why was there a fried egg on the table? One question we know the answer to is that London-based Molly Goddard is the designer behind his covetable cover look. She told us, ‘It was brilliant to work with Harry Lambert on this custom look. We updated our unisex white Iwona blouse with exclusive contrast orange embroidery to go with the wide leg Jorg jeans and ballet pumps. We were so happy to see Harry wearing the look for his album cover.’

Keen Stylers will know that Harry has been particularly fond of a certain gold crucifix ever since he wore it on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine back in September 2019. But these days it’s more likely to be spotted swinging from the neck of his director girlfriend Olivia Wilde. Sharing is caring, after all.

Turns out it wasn’t just the kids who enjoyed Harry’s stint at reading the bedtime story on CBeebies. A lot more mums than usual settled down to enjoy the sound and sight of him resplendent in spotty Gucci PJs with bedhead hairdo and armchairmatching mustard nails. Wonder how much of the story they actually followed….?

As soon as he started his solo tours, it felt natural to take my camera along. I just knew that he would put on a unique performance.

What has been your favourite shows for fashion? I’m going to sound so lame but It has to be his first Love on Tour show in LA. Honestly, that embroidered vest was a DREAM.

What about the time you met your hero? It was so brief, but still the most life-changing 50 seconds of my life. I ran into him at a Starbucks Reserve during one of the days he was in NYC for a show. He passed me as I was about to go in. All I could think to say was, ‘Oh wow, ok hi. I love your music.’ He smiled and put his hand on his heart and I blurted out ‘I’ll see you in the pit tonight’ which, I wanted to smack myself for saying. But he winked and said ‘See you there’. I couldn’t even comprehend asking for a photo. A truly iconic moment. What would be your dream? Doing a one-on-one shoot with him would be like a fever dream to me, but realistically just having my full camera set up, and 5 minutes in the photo pit at one of his shows… I know I’d document magic.
How come your passion became your career? I’d been a fan of One Direction and loved Harry’s effervescence during performances. I’d always loved drawing him and when he went solo, I just fell in love with everything about him. I continued

You went to weekend one at Coachella. What was that like? There was about 140,000 fans behind me. When he came out in the pink coat, the crowd went crazy. I went deaf for a minute.

Highlights included him donning a Union Jack flag and singing a line from Taylor Swift’s 22 to celebrate a fan’s birthday. The crowd lapped up this Haylor trip down memory lane. Family, fainting fans and girlf Olivia Wilde in attendance made this an unforgettable night. GQ magazine called it ‘a loving tribute to his fans’ and inews said, ‘He is a born performer and an incredible pop star.”

n the same day the new album dropped on streaming platforms, Harry performed every track - plus a few favourites - to an ecstatic crowd who had travelled far and wide to see their hero. Taking to the stage in one of his go-to Gucci Ringer Tees emblazoned with red hearts, Harry encouraged the crowd to ‘be whoever it is that you’ve always wanted to be.’ The crowd lapped up every moment, singing along to songs they’d learned the words
to on the drive to the venue. A particularly poignant moment came during ‘Sign of the Times,’ when he plucked a Ukranian flag from the audience. Holding it aloft he told the crowd that with everything going on in the world, the song meant more to him now than ever before. ‘I love every single one of you,’ he said as the final song of the night began. A feeling reciprocated 20,000 times over. Critics praised his performance. Digital Journal gave it an A+ rating. The Guardian called it ‘a lively lovefest on Long Island.’

s the sun set on Sunday 29 May, Harry took to the stage in Coventry’s War Memorial Park to play in front of 80,000 fans at Radio 1’s Big Weekend. His show-stopping performance marked the end of a huge week on his home turf where he’d played his One Night Only show in Brixton, Harry’s House and As It Was both hit number one in the single and album charts and he’d been the latest celeb to read a Bedtime Story for BBC Cbeebies. After a weekend of live music from the likes of Lorde, Calvin Harris and his mate Ed Sheeran, Harry was given the headline spot on Sunday night, bringing the two-day festival to a climactic close. It was the first time his home crowd had been treated to the sight of their hero in one of his body-hugging jumpsuits - this time, a custom made black and purple sequin creation by Spanish designer Arturo Obegero. Never one to miss out on a mani opportunity, his white nails were adorned with red hearts. Harry was obviously feeling the love… 1 2

Lounging around Earlier in the week, Harry visited Radio 1’s London studio to perform in their Live Lounge. Treating the listeners to four songs, including a cover of his Australian support act Wet Leg’s saucy ‘Wet Dream,’ he rocked up in an outfit by Acne Studios. Co-ordinating beautifully with his guitar, he teamed black wide leg pants with a tight-fitting rainbow tee and python belt.

Harry’s Style Evolution The Boybander When Simon Cowell created One Direction in 2010, even he couldn’t have predicted that they would go on to become the biggest boyband in history. But catchy tunes and cute personalities aside, what also appealed to their dedicated fanbase were the fashion choices they made. As all good boybands before them, One Direction did succumb to the odd colour co-ordinated ‘uniform’ but whether they were lined up in skinny jeans or sharp suits, each member added his own individual stamp of style.

In Harry’s case, he showed an early penchant for accessories skinny scarves, polka dot pocket handkerchiefs, bow ties, feathered fedoras, braces and pixie boots. Add in a smattering of tattoos, slashed-to-the-waist ruffled shirts, scuffed suede boots and the long ‘Jagger-esque’ hair and the teenage heartthrob was slowly evolving into the risk-taking rock god he would become….

‘I was 16 when One Direction started,’ Harry told Dazed. ‘I just kind of finished school and didn’t really know what it was that was happening. Everything was really new and exciting and I didn’t know how long everything was gonna last.’ They went on to sell over 70 million albums before five became four then four took a break.

The Movie Star One Direction: This Is Us was the first time we got to see boybander Harry up on the big screen. The rockumentary released in 2013, followed the band on the road during their Take Me Home Tour.
He must have enjoyed playing a man in uniform as his next big screen role was for My Policeman, where he slipped into 1950’s copper’s clothes. After a brief appearance in Marvel’s Eternals where his character Eros (aka Starfox) bore red hair dye and body armour, he headed back to the 1950s for his next role in Don’t Worry Darling. Expect the next trend in menswear to be dapper ‘Don Draper’ style suits.

His acting debut came in 2017 when he was cast in Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster, Dunkirk. In the name of (army) fashion, gone was his long hair in place of a shorter chop befitting of a WWII soldier. His uniform for the premiere consisted of a sharp, black Calvin Klein suit adorned with red and white
embroidery around the ankles, cowboy boots and trademark cluster of chunky rings.

‘I like to challenge myself and movies are definitely where I feel most out of my comfort zone,’ he told Dazed. After his successful stint in Dunkirk, Harry used the time his Love On Tour shows were paused for Covid to work on a trio of movie roles. Don’t Worry Darling, a psychological thriller set in a utopian California co-starring Florence Pugh and directed by girlfriend Olivia Wilde; My Policeman, set in 1950s Brighton and following the story of married copper Harry falling in love with a man at a time when homosexuality was expressly forbidden and finally, a blink-andyou’ll-miss-it role as Eros in Marvel’s Eternals. ‘I’m only in right at the very end. But who didn’t grow up wanting to be a superhero, you know?’

The Model As the lights began to dim on One Direction, Harry’s personal stylist Harry Lambert made the then brave decision to dress him in a floral suit by Gucci for the American Music Awards. (Fast forward to his solo debut and he’d be fully decked out in Gucci.) A friendship and respect between the Harries’ and Gucci’s ‘mane’ man Alessandro Michele developed and by 2018 Harry had been unveiled as the new face of Gucci’s tailoring campaign. More followed including a fragrance campaign for Memoire D’une Odeur, the house’s first gender-neutral scent and a handbag campaign. Advertising aside, Harry has modelled his fair share of editorial too, making history as the first male cover star of American Vogue, resplendent in a Gucci ballgown and tuxedo jacket. It fast became one of the biggest-selling issues in the magazine’s history. The motto for many magazines since: Put Harry Styles on your cover and it will sell.

The Solo Artist ‘You can never be overdressed. There’s no such thing,’ Harry told Vogue back in 2020. Towards the end of One Direction, Harry had been dipping his (painted) toes into making bolder fashion choices so when it came to his solo career, he didn’t hold back. Clashing colours, crazy prints and mixing masculine and feminine silhouettes - fashion was to him, about breaking barriers and feeling free. ‘There’s so much joy to be had in playing with clothes,’ he said. Gucci played a major part in his early solo style, along with Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Alexander McQueen and a Marc Jacobs marigold suit previously worn by Lady Gaga. On co-hosting the 2019 Met Gala dressed in a sheer black blouse, heels and a single pearl earring, his status as a Fashion Icon was sealed.

Every designer is eager to dress him but he’s selective about who he chooses to push his fashion boundaries wearing. H
arry’s style has always stood out, even during his co-ordinated boyband days. But few could have predicted how the aptly named superstar would become one of the most influential fashion icons of his generation. Bagging a fashion award back in 2013 should have been an early indicator of the fashion darling he’d become. He was easily the most Directional dresser, showing his style stripes by casting aside his original cute, smart preppy look for something altogether more rockstar grunge-y. Unbuttoned shirts revealing a growing collection of tattoos, scuffed cowboy boots and, let’s never forget, long dirty-looking hair. So far so normal for a teen heartthrob wanting to break away from his former clean-cut boyband image. But when it came to going solo, that’s when he really surprised his fans and the entire fashion world. The skinny jeans disappeared, as did the long hair.

In their place came sumptuous brocade suits by Gucci teamed with pussy bow blouses and a neat crop. We started to see his love of mixing traditionally male and female pieces - and we liked it. We also liked that he didn’t just look to the fashion giants to fill out his wardrobe. Sure, it was bursting with Gucci and Saint Laurent but there was also room for pieces from fashion students like Harris Reed and Steven Stokey-Daley, both of whom were creating gender-fluid collections. In 2019, Harry’s status as one of the world’s greatest style icons was sealed. By now a muse for Gucci, he was invited to co-host the Met Gala. He stepped onto the pink carpet in a sheer black jumpsuit, high heels and a single pearl earring. The world went wild. More iconic fashion moments followed. In 2020 he became the first male to grace the cover of American Vogue. He did it wearing a lace ball gown by Gucci (of course) and a tuxedo jacket.

The photos caused controversy from some corners - along with a stampede in sales. And that’s how he’s carried on continually breaking down every fashion barrier there is to embrace androgynous dressing - and redefining menswear as he does it. Ballgowns, ballet tutus, feather boas, frills and flares, if he wants to wear it, he will. A designer muse, TikTok influencer and fashion editor favourite, earlier this year Harry’s set at Coachella was raved about as much for his fashion choices as his music. Sequins, feathers, shiny leather and fuchsia fur, every outfit change was deserving of a standing ovation of its own. With a busy year ahead following his ‘Love on Tour’ around the world and promo for Harry’s House, we can only expect even greater fashion triumphs. Washington DC 2018 The entire 2018 tour was a fashion triumph. Harris Reed provided covetable new romantic-style pussy bow blouses, Gucci gave him a series of cropped matadorstyle suits and Saint Laurent provided him with a wardrobe of sequinned separates. The colour palette, but for a few exceptions, remained subtle (for him.) Our photographer was pit-side at the DC show where he wore this grey and white checked whistle by Gucci. She told how us how smart - and striking - he’d looked on stage and so we’re kicking off our countdown with one of her favourite looks on him.

Continuing his flirtation with fringing, he wowed the LA crowd on what was supposed to be his final show in this black sequinned fringe jacket worn over, well nothing. It was similar to the red version he wore to open the run of concerts in Las Vegas and the gold one in Long Island. As for the big mint green pants, it was a colour he kept revisiting throughout the tour culminating in a top-to-toe combo in San Diego show. A green god.

WEEKEND ONE: Sequins & Shania After two years away, Coachella certainly came back with a bang! Across two weekends in April, this patch of Californian desert played host to 250,000 music fans who’d been patiently waiting for the pandemic to ease. The organisers pulled out all the stops by booking Harry to headline the main stage on both Friday night slots. Welcoming the over-excited crowd with, ’We have a full moon, you have a ticket and I have the flavour,’ he strode out onto the stage dressed in a huge black custom-made feather coat by Gucci (of course.) His set kicked off with “As It Was” and as he worked his way into the second verse the feathers were discarded to reveal a multi-coloured plunging sequin jumpsuit. To the appreciative screams of the crowd, Harry performed for an hour-and-a-half, delighting his fans with a rendition of ‘What Makes You Beautiful.’

Soaking up the Italian sunshine for the second time as a couple (plus bodyguards) the couple opted for standard holiday garb - shorts, tees, trainers and big sunglasses. That’s amore!

hile hosting Saturday Night Live in 2019, he joked his priorities were ‘music, good hair and comedy.’ It’s no joke that since he first burst onto our TV screens he’s rarely suffered a bad hair day. From his bouffy ID days to chopping it off to go solo, his hair has arguably been his most recognisable feature. Harry gives good hair and he knows it. Here’s how his hair styles up...

Remembering fondly the OG floppy mop that first propelled him into our hearts. Natural, bouncing curls that teenage girls dreamed of running their fingers through.

As the curtain started to close on 1D, Harry got more Hercules in the hair department, adopting a casual grunge-y side swoop. Similarities to Mick Jagger began.

2021 My Policeman called for a short, back and sides. But once filming wrapped, the curls reappeared, flowing freely in the Golden video.

“I love his current ‘run your fingers through your hair’ short bouncy vibe,” says Sven, ‘It has great volume and is a good example of the returning 90s trend.” To copy his coiff: 1. If you need to fake texture, scrunch in some oil. A few drops of Bouclème’s Revive 5 Hair Oil will offer build-up/slickdown possibilities with added softness. 2. Invest in a hairdryer. ‘Harry’s hair is all about the initial blow-dry, lifting the roots rather than trying to straighten it.’ 3. Play with colour. Let’s hear it for the boy… or more specifically his face. Great skin aside, we’re big fans of his barely-there facial fuzz. But is it just a result of lazy shaving or something altogether more high maintenance?
About his stubble
‘I loved the moustache,’ says hairstylist Sven Bayerbach of the original ‘tache Harry cultivated during 2020’s lockdown. He wasn’t alone. When it disappeared, fans took to twitter to mourn the loss of the bush that had lovingly lurked above his top lip. When he came back with a new look - the e-boy haircut and a collection of slinky jumpsuits - to promote Harry’s House earlier this year, back too came a little facial fuzz. Although more whiskery than last time and with more hair hanging around his chin area, he looked every inch the raunchy rock god. Fans, influencers and barber pros across the globe approved. Looking that good, apart from the genes, is down to ‘careful grooming and making it work for your face,’ says Sven. In Harry’s case, he gives good bone structure and has an oval face shape, ideal for carrying off a barely1 0 6

there beard. Chances are, while it looks like he’s just forgotten to shave for a few days, his fuzz is the result of some scrupulous tweaking. Keeping the hair off his top lip, making sure that it’s barely-there rather than bushy, and keeping the whole effect one of softness. There’s probably a few products lined up on his bathroom shelf too: beard (or in his case, stubble) shampoo and conditioner along with a little wax.
About his eyebrows ‘Harry has naturally full brows that beautifully frame his face,’ says Nadira. ‘Although they may not appear perfectly preened, it is likely that stray hairs are kept at bay by a professional wax or tweeze.’ Thank goodness he goes pro as we all know that tweezers in the wrong hands can be a disaster.
About his skin Men’s skin tends to be thicker and greasier than women’s and when not sporting Mr Styles’ style stubble, suffers the daily ordeal of shaving. Makeup artist Nadira V Persuad reckons Harry would stick to a simple daily routine using cleanser to purify his enlarged pores (all men have them) without stripping away essential oils. With his own Pleasing skin products, we bet he uses the doubled-ended Pleasing Pen to wake up his toured-out peepers and keep his lips soft and kissable for Olivia. Spot of bother?
Now we’re not saying that Harry suffers with zits the size of Kilimanjaro. But bless him, he’s still human so prone to the odd pimple. He doesn’t seem to be a squeezer which is good, preferring to leave them to heal naturally. Spot stickers like Acne Dots from Peace Out, £17 (@ cultbeauty) are a great idea. Worn over the offending blemish, they contain skin purifying goodies to work their magic overnight. Luckily for him when an eruption does occur, Harry’s job requires a make-up artist on call who comes complete with concealer.

is first forays into nail polish consisted mainly of stumpy nails painted standard rockstar black. But fast forward to now and he’s a fully-fledged nail art trend setter with fan accounts on Instagram and his own nail varnish line. Just like his approach to fashion, nothing is off the (nail) table. Harry will give even the most adventurous looks a go, like intricately-drawn designs and mis-matched colours. During filming for My Policeman, Harry had to have his famously tattooed torso covered. On seeing himself tattfree for the first time in years, he told Howard Stern, “I’d look at myself and be like, ‘Look at this boring **s body.” Although he’s confessed that he’ll ‘probably get more,’ at the last count, eagle-eyed admirers counted 56 inkings across his body. These include a black star on his inner left arm, the first tattoo he braved to mark his 18th birthday. Because he rarely reveals the meanings behind a lot of his inkings, they’ve become the subject of intense fan debate. But whilst some have deep, sentimental meanings, others seemed to be him just having fun - the Pingu etching which both he and Ed Sheeran got following a drunken night out for starters. or Harry, it’s basically anything that brings him joy, excites his senses and blurs the boundaries. When news leaked that Harry Edward Styles had taken out a ‘perfume and cosmetics’ trademark for Pleased As Holdings Ltd in mid 2021, fans were hopeful that the next big celebrity beauty brand was coming their way. Holding onto the last few drops of their One Direction Our Moment scent, they craved some new stuff from Mr Styles on their bathroom shelves. Smart teasing by way of hoodies bearing the Pleasing logo and posters popping up around London followed, further whipping fans up into a frenzy. They trawled the internet looking for clues as to when - and what Harry was up to. However, when the first products eventually launched in November, it was evident straight away that Harry was about so much more than merely jumping aboard the celebrity beauty bandwagon. This beauty entrepreneur cared as much about ‘pleasing’ the planet as he did the people. His non-

binary ‘life’ brand was created using postconsumer plastics and compostable paper. He told Dazed magazine, ‘We totally understand that we are putting more product into the world, so if we’re gonna do that, then we have to do it the right way.’ Apparently, the idea for Pleasing came during the pandemic. No pun intended but he had time on his hands so for the first product drop, went down the nail route. Surprising for most celebrity ranges where fragrance comes first, but unsurprising for Harry as he’s known for having a penchant for painted nails. Plus, he’s still the face for Gucci’s Mémoire d’une Odeur. . Back to Pleasing’s maiden launch, on finally going Insta live in November 2021, the brand amassed a swift £754k followers. (Today, there’s

well over one million.) Within the carefully curated first nail collection sat a trio of pearly shades and a matte top coat. It was accompanied by a capsule skincare collection comprising an illuminating primer and a dual-ended eye serum and lip oil pen. Stylers couldn’t wait to get their hands on the beautifullypackaged products, leading to a pre-order sell-out. March
2022 eventually brought the second micro-drop, Shroom Bloom, inspired by early spring. Harry coaxed fellow musician and lover of manicures, Mick Fleetwood to model the ad campaign, chosen he told Vogue, because he ‘brings me - and countless others - joy.’ The collection featured a quartet of back-tonature nail colours along with an overnight serum spiked with malic and hibiscus acids and a nourishing hand and nail balm. Shroom Bloom also featured merch, as spotted on girlf Olivia Wilde, by way of t-shirts and crewneck tops made from recycled, organic yarn. So far, Harry has stuck to nails and skincare (with a smattering of clothing.) But what’s next? Makeup? Accessories? Sequin jumpsuits? Whatever comes our way, Harry’s Golden touch shows no signs of waning. After all, we all want to find our pleasing….

Where fashion choices are concerned, Harry stays faithful to certain brands. You’ll have seen many Gucci mentions throughout this issue, along with the likes of JW Anderson and SS Daley, both of whom he wore at the start of his solo journey and still wears now. The same goes for jewellery brands. A lot of his necklaces (like the banana and the crucifix) come courtesy of Gucci but he also favours Louis Vuitton, Swarovski and éliou. He opted for a lilac one over a yellow houndstooth blazer and brown velvet trousers to walk the red carpet. n the week that As It Was hit its tenth week at number one in the UK charts and the next leg of Love On Tour kicked off in Scotland, Harry stormed the stage at London radio station Capital’s annual Summertime Ball. The bill for the day-long music extravaganza included stars like Ed Sheeran, Anne-Marie, KSI and after what felt like an eternal wait for the 80,000 screaming fans, the penultimate act, Harry.

All day, the hosting DJs had teased the crowd with news of his arrival at Wembley Stadium. Although he wasn’t strictly the headline act, it was obvious that he was the main draw. When his turn finally arrived, Harry was introduced by Tik Tok superstar Khaby Lame and Capital’s Ronan Kemp. He burst onto the stage, claiming the loudest screams of the day and worked his way through an agonisingly short half hour set treating fans to five songs, old and new. He chose another dreamy jumpsuit for the occasion, this time a black and white flared creation by genderless fashion brand Palomo Spain, left tantalisingly unzipped all the way down to his butterfly tattoo. A pair of comfy Vans and his beloved gold jewellery completed his look, though he was offered a multitude of accessories thrown onto the stage by fans feather boas, studded stetsons, a yellow bowler hat, an inflatable watermelon and a Pride flag. As the UK’s Metro newspaper commented, ‘If there’s one thing Harry Styles knows how to do it’s please a crowd.’ Funnily enough, once he left the stage so did a sea of fans start leaving the stadium - the lure of an early train home greater than that of staying for the official headline act, David Guetta….
