1.TELL US ABOUT GABLE & GRAIN AND HOW YOU FIRST STARTED.
I’m Gina; a coffee table book collector, paper admirer and hopeful gardener, and I founded Gable & Grain; a fine stationery and flower pressing studio. Housed in a little garden studio in the English countryside, I create beautiful paper goods through the art of flower pressing and the age-old craft of foil blocking, handpicking only the finest materials to create beautifully crafted and memorable stationery.
I design and handcraft wedding stationery, planners, and seasonal gift items using flowers from my garden and flower farms. I press the flowers and incorporate them into my designs. Last year saw my first attempt at growing a cutting garden, so I could create designs quite literally from seed to paper! Thankfully the rabbits didn’t get to a gorgeous crop of Cosmos and Sweet Peas, which now feature within a number of my stationery designs.
I’ve always had some form of creative ‘side hustle’ alongside my day job as a graphic designer for various high-end brands in London. However, Gable & Grain didn’t become a full-time venture until after my wedding, when designing my own wedding stationery sparked countless ideas and sketches during my honeymoon, evolving into the stationery studio I run today!
2.WHAT’S INCLUDED IN A FULL RANGE OF WEDDING STATIONERY?
Stationery is the first thing your guests will see and the first little insight they’ll get of your wedding day, so I really believe in the importance of ensuring this sets the tone of your wedding perfectly, whilst being beautifully cohesive at every stage of your day and the lead up to it. Wedding stationery can be categorized into three stages: before, during, and after the wedding. ‘Before’ the wedding includes save-the-dates and invitations, giving guests a glimpse into the event and setting the tone. ‘During’ the wedding encompasses all stationery and signage for the ceremony, reception, and venue, ensuring a cohesive experience. ‘After’ the wedding focuses on thank-you cards, showing appreciation to guests.
3.WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT STYLES AND COLLECTIONS YOU PRODUCE?
Using natural forms of pressed flowers, I have a number of stationery collections for weddings across each season. Whether you’re looking for a pop of colour for your summer wedding or a pastel palette of whimsical florals for your springtime nuptials, each collection has a different feel, whilst celebrating the art of flowers. Weddings and flowers go hand in hand, after all!
4.HOW DO YOU DISTINGUISH YOUR DESIGNS FROM THE COMPETITION?
The process of creating my stationery designs is a real labour of love. Using the traditional art of flower pressing allows me to experiment with forms of nature to create beautifully authentic designs, which are then printed onto extra thick paper. Combining these with a second method of printing, foil blocking, using my rather fancy hot foil press, is what really makes my stationery a little out of the ordinary, and I’m so proud to offer this as standard within my collections.
5.HOW DO YOU WORK WITH COUPLES TO CRAFT BESPOKE DESIGNS?
With bespoke stationery designs, your story will be told through each detail, to beautifully introduce your wedding day to your guests. Whether it’s through an illustration of your proposal location, ribbons in the colour of your bridesmaid’s dresses, or even flowers pressed from your garden, each detail is thoughtfully designed to set the tone of your wedding day perfectly.
One of my favourite bespoke designs to date was created with Hydrangea petals from the bride’s mother’s home where they would be hosting their backyard wedding. The petals were shipped to me from the US, which I pressed for some weeks and then used within the designs. A real labour of love and a wonderful personal touch to their stationery!
6.SHARE WITH US YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE WEDDING PLANNERS.
My collection of wedding planners was inspired by the planning of my own wedding, which I felt was spread across countless apps, emails and notebooks, both digitally and in print, which made the planning process feel overwhelming. I wanted to create a practical piece of stationery that would become a ‘go to’ wedding planning companion, where every aspect of planning a wedding would be in one place, whilst offering advice and guidance along the way. I also wanted the wedding planner to be a beautiful keepsake that could be passed down through generations.
7.WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE WEDDING PLANNERS?
The planners are thoughtfully designed by me and beautifully handcrafted in the seaside town of Margate. They are wrapped in a woven cotton book cloth, embellished with premium gold-tones hardware and filled with thick pages of soft white paper.
This guide is divided into ten sections and provides invaluable advice, guidance, and helpful tips from industry experts and real brides. It also includes prompts to capture ideas, note-taking sections, checklists, and calendars to assist with organisation. It is suitable for intimate weddings and big celebrations, whether you’re planning for yourself or intend to hire a wedding planner.

Bride Selina had a longstanding wish of getting married on her birthday, and her wishes were granted when she married the love of her life during her birthday weekend, on Saturday the 3rd of August. In addition, it was also her 40th birthday, so what better way to celebrate a milestone than with a wedding celebration shared with loved ones?

After looking around locally, the couple felt deflated as they couldn’t find a location that matched their modern style… “I thought I’d have to go further afield which I wasn’t keen on as I have two very young children. After lots of viewings of other venues, we stumbled across Alfriston Gardens and instantly loved it! It was new and modern with a twist. Janie, the manager, loved my ideas and vision and fully supported everything I wanted to do which was amazing as most other venues became quite restrictive when it came to decorating. I was suddenly super excited to get planning again and got the wheels in motion!”

“Getting ready in the morning I was totally calm, not nervous at all. I was excited and got the bubbles flowing early with all the girls and we had a blast. Bringing the makeup and hair together with the dress was such a magical feeling and I felt like an absolute princess. It’s a moment I will never forget.” Selina specifies how important it is to work with a makeup artist and hairdresser who understands your vision, and both Maira and Abi nailed the brief. The dress was an easy choice: “Well to be honest it wasn’t too difficult as soon as I tried on the Berta dress from the Wedding Club in Knightsbridge I knew it was just made for me, but out of curiosity, I had to try on a few more just to make sure! I went back about a month later put it on again, and just loved every part of it!” For Phil, the decision was easy. He chose a made-to-measure suit by Christian Dior, crafted in Paris—a perfect choice as they are both massive fans of the brand.

A Warm Embrace
A DRAMATIC PROPOSAL
The proposal took place on Reynisfjara, Iceland on 20 October 2022. While the date held no special significance, the couple had planned a trip to Iceland and were spending the day at the beautiful black sand beach. The weather was terrible, cold, rainy, and windy, but the location remained stunning, with breathtaking views of the two offshore islands.

Lauren and Tom decided to marry in the New Forest, a place they had always loved, having lived just down the road. Rhinefield House, a stunning stately home with gorgeous grounds, epitomises the New Forest and its rich history. “I’d recommend it 100% as a venue to other friends and family,” said the couple. They wanted to celebrate their special day with as many loved ones as possible, inviting eighty guests for the daytime event and one hundred and twenty for the evening celebrations.
MARRIED IN STYLE
The bride found her dress at Little London Brides, a family-run boutique. After trying on dresses at many different bridal shops, Little London Brides stood out with its attention to detail, expert advice, and helpful opinions. Lauren’s bridal shoes were Louis Vuitton and allowed her to dance comfortably until the early hours. Meanwhile, the groom and his groomsmen were impeccably dressed in Hunter & Greys suits, and the bridesmaids wore dresses from a small Etsy supplier.
CLASSIC AND NEUTRAL
There was no specific theme for the wedding. The couple knew they didn’t want anything too eccentric or bright, as the beauty and ambience of the historic venue spoke for itself. Instead, they chose a simple, elegant palette of natural whites and creams. Petals & Posies, their florist, created stunning arrangements
featuring roses, New Forest foliage, and peonies. Their rustic-style, three-tiered wedding cake also complemented the neutral tones of the day.

The couple’s favourite part of the day was the wedding ceremony itself - getting married in front of their family and friends, who were seated in glorious sunshine while listening to Evertide Music, who were fantastic. The musicians carefully curated a selection of songs to complement the atmosphere and the sunny weather, making the experience “absolutely beautiful from start to finish,” shared the couple. For their first dance, the bride and groom chose High on Life by Martin Garrix.
The unseasonably warm, Mediterranean-like weather that graced the area arrived at the perfect time. Its presence has elevated every aspect of their special day, creating an even more magical and unforgettable experience. TELL US ABOUT YOUR MOST RECENT PROJECTS.
I’ve had the pleasure of working on a variety of weddings recently, each with its own unique story, from countryside weddings to luxury hotels, both in the UK and abroad. One that stands out is a stunning outdoor wedding at the beautiful Rhinefield House Hotel. The pavilion was enchanting, and the weather was simply magical, adding to the overall charm of the day. Each wedding I photograph feels like a new adventure, and I love diving into the details that make each couple’s story special.
WHERE ARE YOU BASED, AND WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO PHOTOGRAPH?
I’m based in the heart of picturesque Winchester, Hampshire, but my heart is always ready for adventure. I love to travel and explore new locations. I’d be thrilled to photograph weddings in breathtaking destinations like Italy - Rome and Venice - or the South of France, where the scenery adds an extra layer of romance to the images. I still dream of capturing beautiful moments in some of the UK’s finest venues, like the elegant Coworth Park and the luxurious Cliveden House, where every corner exudes charm and sophistication. The rustic barns of the English countryside also hold a special place in my heart, blending history with natural beauty to create stunning backdrops. Venues like the history-rich Château de Chambord in France inspire me. The possibilities are endless, and I can already envision the magical moments waiting to be captured.

My photography style is all about capturing genuine moments and the real emotions of the day. Over time, I’ve moved away from
somewhat stiff, posed shots to a more relaxed and natural approach, blending elegance with fun. I strive to be a storyteller, weaving together candid moments and beautiful details that reflect who they are. This evolution has not only made my work feel more intimate and authentic but has also deepened my connection with the couples I work with. Lauren and Tom’s wedding was an absolute joy to photograph. From the moment I walked into Lauren’s room, the excitement was palpable- there was so much fun, happiness, and natural emotion in the air. It felt like stepping into a beautiful story unfolding right before my eyes. The wedding at Rhinefield House perfectly blended classic elegance with a touch of nature, truly reflecting the couple. The outdoor pavilion was stunningly decorated, and the weather was just right, adding to that magical vibe. Every moment was filled with genuine emotions—watching Lauren and Tom exchange their vows was incredibly moving. And the energy on the dance floor at the end of the night? Absolutely electric!
WHICH WAS YOUR FAVOURITE MOMENT TO PHOTOGRAPH?
My favourite moment was the bride’s first look with her father. The emotion in that moment was so powerful; capturing the tears of joy and pride was incredibly rewarding. It’s these fleeting moments that remind me of the beauty of love. Every wedding has its own rhythm, and being there to capture those heartbeats is what makes my job so special.

PACK YOUR BAGS
Ray proposed in a cottage in the middle of Blackmore just after lockdown. He said “Pack a bag for a weekend” and they were off to a forest of dreams. He prepared the cottage with large balloon letters in gold saying ‘Marry Me’ and decorated the space with flower petals and created photo albums of their time together, even purposely placing a camera setup to capture her reaction: “He then took me in and I was in awe. As I was taking it all in, he pulled out a piece of paper from behind the cushion on the sofa. It was a poem he personally wrote for this proposal. He read the poem he created about us which was so unexpected and sweet. As we both got emotional, he knelt on one knee, pulled out the ring box and asked me ‘Will you marry me?’ Of course, I said ‘Yes!’”
LOVE AT FIRST VISIT
The couple knew their venue was the one as soon as they pulled up. “Hedsor House was ideal for our dream summer garden wedding. We fell in love with it immediately at the Open Day. The private estate offered the exclusive use and stunning gardens we desired, with the added benefit of the entire event seamlessly flowing within a single building,” the couple expressed. Every element came together beautifully while working through the early stages with their planner Amie Jackson. Aurelia also added: “I knew that photographers and videographers were important to find early on, and I went through so many different vendors before choosing Aurelia Allen Photography and Stories from Eros video.”
ONCE IN A LIFETIME
Both Aurelia and Ray wanted to flaunt a special outfit on their wedding day - thinking they wouldn’t get another chance like this to slip into something extremely wow-worthy. Aurelia says: “I wanted a big princess dress - an A-line style - for my wedding,
knowing it would be the only time I could wear one. I tried on dresses in London but couldn’t find anything that fit my torso properly. When I returned to Indonesia for my engagement dinner, I booked appointments at several wedding gown boutiques over two days. I immediately fell in love with a white dress that had a low cut in the front, was longer in the back, and had a beautiful detachable train. It was dramatic, elegant, practical, beautiful, and very me. I knew instantly it was the dress I wanted to get married in.” Whilst Ray shares: “I’ve always wanted to wear a tuxedo, and what better time than my own wedding? This is a once-in-a-lifetime event, so I decided to treat myself to a custom-tailored suit. It’s important to me to look my best on my big day, and a tailored suit is the perfect way to achieve that.”

BURST OF FLORALS
The venue itself was impeccable without any decorations but the couple added a layer of ethereal elegance with their choice of flowers. Celebrating the vibrant time of year, they selected a combination of baby pink, gold and hints of blue. The bride then goes on to say: “Peonies were the perfect choice for our signature flower, as they are my favourite and were also in season during our wedding! We chose tall delphiniums for our aisle meadow to create a dramatic effect, and the halfcrescent at the end of the aisle was a beautiful combination of pink, white, and blue roses, hydrangeas, and delphiniums. To tie everything together, we used flower names for our guest table names.” The bride also picked pastel and floral dresses for her wedding party to stay in theme with the garden essence. WH

Celebrating ten years together, Alex planned the picture-perfect proposal with a sprinkle of movie magic… “We were at the Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney for our anniversary and the room was laid out with the romantic glow of candles and roses,” they reminisced, “Romeo & Juliet is one of Davina’s favourite films and it looked just like a scene from the movie.”

With the couple hailing from the UK but currently located in Sydney, the hunt for the perfect venue had to begin from afar… “We fell in love with Ellingham Hall as soon as we saw it, I mean how could you not?”, they gushed. “Well actually, it was when Alex’s brother and sister-in-law viewed the venue for the first time after we did a virtual tour from Australia. It was a great fit for us as a venue with so many rooms meant we could host guests the night before and was also near Alex’s home in Newcastle so his grandma could celebrate with us. The staff were great at accommodating virtual catch ups while we were in Sydney and made all our guests feel so special on the day.”
PURPLE DREAMS
“Davina’s favourite colour is purple so we wanted to entwine that into our wedding theme and florals when decorating the venue,” they told us, “we also wanted to stay true to the rustic elegance of the space so kept the décor simple and added personal touches like pictures depicting the memories of our relationship on every table.” The couple also included slate coasters as guest favours to nod to Alex’s profession as a geologist and love of rocks, a personal keepsake for their nearest and dearest.

The getting ready process with bridesmaids and groomsmen was fun for all, with matching pyjamas,
help with cufflinks and laughter to soothe the nerves. “The bridesmaids were in dresses from Azazie, where you can all choose different styles in the same colour and material to make sure everyone felt comfortable in a dress to suit their body type,” Davina explained. “The groomsmen wore rented suits with bowties to match the purple of the bridesmaids,” Alex beamed, “it felt great to be suited and booted and my suit was slightly different to the boys. I truly felt my best whilst getting married to the love of my life.”

“Karolina, our fantastic photographer, was an absolute treat. She really kept the energy up the whole day and everyone was saying how lovely she was! She managed to get everyone in the right place at the right time and it was so worth it for the beautiful album we received. Our venue is a stunning Grade II listed barn from the 17th century and is situated on the outskirts of Tetbury, a quaint town in the Cotswold's. With great connections to nearby train and bus stations, motorways and towns, we are the perfect UK destination venue. Our onsite accommodation can host up to 90 guests, including the spacious Tythe House which sleeps 16 guests. This makes it super easy for your guests to travel to us and have a comfortable stay after enjoying your wedding day. We have been hosting weddings at our venue for 30 years this year so I guess you really could call us experts! Our small and friendly team have worked hard to ensure each wedding and event runs without a hitch.

This makes it super easy to coordinate registrar meetings since you are a stones throw away from our office. We will get your guests seated and your wedding party situated ready for your ceremony. After you’ve said ‘I do’, you and your guests can enjoy drinks on our picturesque lawns. Then, sit down to a sumptuous Wedding Breakfast in the barn which has since been transformed into an unrecognisable space to match your vision. Once you are full of good food and have listened to your loved one's speeches, The Great Tythe Barn turns into a lively venue, where you can all dance until the early hours.

WHAT KIND OF ACTIVITIES CAN YOU PARTAKE IN DURING A WEDDING STAY?
While staying at The Great Tythe Barn you can take part in but aren’t ever limited to a range of activities. Our Tythe House provides the perfect space to host gatherings and parties with food trucks, BBQs and games. During your wedding day we pride ourselves on flexibility and welcoming ideas for unique activities. We have seen cricket, mini golf, bucking broncos, bouncy castles, wedding bingo and duck herding, the list is endless. One morning we even crossed paths with our bride on a run through the surrounding countryside. If you wish to expand your parameters, our local town Tetbury is located a 10 minute walk from the barn. When passing through the town you will see a plethora of pubs, restaurants and cosy cafes which offer good food and drink. Watching the views during the day was stunning, but nothing could prepare us for the glimmering evening scenery. This room provides the ultimate relaxation experience, featuring a plush bed, rain shower, and underfloor heating; this Suite is the ideal space for couples celebrating a special occasion.
To relax after exploring Shoreditch, Bokeh, the hotel's spa, was calling our name. Featuring an inviting swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and an extensive menu of luscious treatments, including a glorious mud treatment and couples' massage, the spa was ideal to take some downtime. With bubbly in hand, we began to unwind using the various amenities before a deep tissue massage left us feeling rejuvenated after a weekend full of adventures.
The only thing left on our agenda was dinner. Marlowe Bar and Restaurant welcomed us for an evening of playful cocktails and delicious cuisine in a cosy setting, with a menu that changes seasonally to ensure the freshest local ingredients. You can expect signature British cuisine, with a touch of international influence. We began our meal with salt and pepper chilli squid and grilled tiger prawns, followed by the sirloin steak accompanied by béarnaise sauce and truffle parmesan fries. To conclude our dinner, the cheese board was ideal for sharing. For breakfast, the restaurant provides a delightful buffet or à la carte menu. From a full English breakfast to American blueberry pancakes - you can sit back, relax and enjoy!
