GOLF DAY AT SCALLY'S GOLF CENTER | MAY 25, 2024

Thanks to all who attended; Scally's Golf Center, TSPGA professionals/staff, and especially the retired and active military attending and participating in golf lessons and camaraderie. Steelers great Jack Ham even showed up to support and swing.

The section pulled double duty with two significant events on one day: our Head Pro/Assistant Pro and this Veterans Golf Event.

PGA HOPE TRi-STATE was on hand to provide adaptive golf situations on six holes. Thank you to Mike Papson, Brett Carman, Mike Frisina, Matt Luther, and Bernie Hough for their work on the tees.

The day was a success, raising awareness, hope, and funds for heroes: Eric "Trainwreck" Burkett, JR.-U.S. Marine Corp Major (RET), and Brandon Rumbaugh-U.S. Marine Corp Corporal (RET.)

GRADUATION DAY

PGA HOPE Certified Professional Rich Conwell celebrated Graduation Day at Wheeling Country Club. Rich conducted his first PGA HOPE six-week program along with fellow HOPE Certified Professional Bob Salera. The final session included adaptive golf instruction for U.S. Military Veterans, lunch, and distribution of graduation certificates.

Thank you to Rich, Bob, and the veterans who attended the program and enjoyed the game of golf and camaraderie.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – IUP head men's golf coach Dan Braun was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Coach of the Year for the second straight season and third time overall, announced by the league on Wednesday. Additionally, Shaun Fedor (first team), Alex Swinnerton (first team), and Guillermo Salazar (second team) notched all-conference honors.

Braun's Coach of the Year honor is the 19th for the IUP men's golf program, the most in conference history. He helped lead the Crimson Hawks back to the NCAA DII National Championships for a second straight season.
