Dear Shorthorn Friends, I am very excited to welcome you to the Sixth Annual Midwest Shorthorn Spectacular! The Illinois Shorthorn Association, along with Dwyer Cattle Services, has worked diligently to bring you a great set of cattle. Study the pedigrees and you will find unique opportunities offered generously from some breed leading families. As you look through the catalog you will find many fancy heifer calves ready to go for Junior projects or as genetics to expand your herd. Take note of the herd bulls in the sale and you will find great prospects with diverse genetics. Whatever your needs are they can be filled in a “Spectacular” way! I would also like to personally invite each and every one of you to the Illinois Shorthorn Association annual meeting and banquet to be held on Friday night, February 22, at 6:00 p.m. We will be meeting in a new location this year; Poe’s Catering on the Hill, just 10 minutes from the fairgrounds. Come prepared with your ideas and suggestions for the Association. The evening will feature board member elections, a cookie jar auction benefitting the Lassies, great food, and Shorthorn fellowship. Please don’t hesitate to contact any of the consignors, sale management, or myself if we can help in any way. Enjoy your time at the Illinois Beef Expo, good luck if you are showing in the Junior show, and thanks for supporting the Midwest Shorthorn Spectacular Sale. Sincerely, Janet Leemon, President Illinois Shorthorn Association

We have been really happy with our Primetime daughters. Our first ones are just now calving and they are making excellent mothers with some really nice calves. Rose Mysie 301Z is a long deep sided heifer. She is structurally correct with a pretty feminine front. We purchased this bull as an embryo from Terry Steinhour Estate in this same sale three years ago. Based on recommendations from Terry’s partner Larry Hill. All five stuck and we are keeping two heifers for our replacements. Castlerock sons are siring some excellent replacement daughters and show cattle. If you need to add some milk to your program look at the +5.7 Milk EPD. We showed this bull very successfully this past summer at the Illinois State Fair. With him being a fall born, he will be plenty big to turn out with cows this spring.
