Schooley Cattle Co. - Page 1

Welcome to our 2nd Annual Schooley Cattle Co. Production Sale. Sure looks like the cattle market is full of optimism and with Spring demand coming we will continue to see a rise for our wholesome beef! I first want to thank all our valued friends and customers for allowing us to bring our genetics back to town again this year. You gave us some insightful ideas and thoughts for what you want to see from us. So with that being said, we have focused on breeding these cattle for a uniformed set of EPDs. Our goal is to bring you a functional set of cattle with functional and accurate numbers. We have selected only a few sires to help build our program and to lead it in a direction that moves towards the future of our cattle business. With that said I WON’T SACRIFICE ANY TRAIT FOR FEET AND LEGS!! Working in the sale barn for the better part of my entire life I have seen first hand that feet and leg structure is the first and most often reason for people shipping cows early in life. With stay-ability being a primary driver for a successful herd, it was clear to me that hoof design and leg structure where of the utmost importance. I spend most of my time in the fall and winter looking at your cattle and studying your programs and that gives me ideas how to improve our herd. We want our cattle to help you top what ever market you sell, whether it’s by the pound or by the head. I hope you all find as much pleasure in your cattle as we do here. We get the opportunity day in and day out to sort and market some of the best cattle in the country. That’s why our main focus is still breeding cattle are docile and easy going. That goes along ways around here and everybody from producer to packer understands the importance of quiet cattle. I want to thank Tyler and Andrew for all the hard work they put in everyday of the year to help our program move forward. Matt, Lester and the crew at the sale barn for doing what ever it takes to make the whole puzzle fit together. Most importantly our wives and families that sacrifice our time away. We want you to know that getting to know you and your operation is our top priority so that we can better assist your marketing needs.

This attractive designed baldy has been a stud since day one! His mass, width and dimension packaged with the performance of Emmett off a first calf heifer is what we strive to bring to the offering. We could write a book about how high we are on this guy but will let the picture and video speak for themselves. He will be the lead bull in our NWSS percentage pen bulls and on display in the yards.

I would like to say the genetics behind the Schooley Bulls are the real deal. These calves come moderate at birth and are very stout, thick, muscular calves that truly perform. I have kept some superior daughters, backed by Pays to Believe & Ura Believer, that I’m very proud of! Steers grow like nothing I have ever seen before. For example I sold some of these calves October 23, 2017 and had 23 steers who sold in one group weighing 735 lbs. Those steers were born in March & April! I would strongly encourage anyone to try these bulls to add growth, performance, and pounds to your own herd. Mike Moothart - Mount Pleasant, Iowa

If you want baldy calves Elias needs to be on your short list sale day. Not to mention his well-balanced look with that stout square hip, and hind back leg we all admire. If I owned a commercial set of Angus based cows and I wanted to make more money? He is sure to produce an awesome set of baldy replacement heifers! Member of the NWSS pen bulls and on display in the yards.

My son Matt and I have bought bulls two out of the last three years from Schooley Cattle. We have noticed the uniformity in the calf crop, not to mention the extra pounds we are selling. This past November we sold 74 steers and 64 all sold together for a pot load lot. We can say this is the most uniform & docile set of calves we have ever had, and I know the buyers appreciate that. Brad Freesmeier - West Point, Iowa

Here is a neatly packaged true beef bull! One that is sure to add shear pounds and performance to his resulting progeny. His Traveler 004 dam consistently produces these top end bull’s year in and year out! Stepping Stone maternal sib sold last year to Duane Graber family. Member of the NWSS pen bulls and on display in the yards.

My son JT and I have sold our calves with the Schooley’s for over 40 years. We have been buying bred heifers and bulls from Roman over the last 10 years. They are always glad to help us with advice on improving our genetics. If any problems ever arise, they are glad to assist us. We look forward to many more years of partnership. Dave & JT Hopkins - Bloomfield, Iowa

Clear Choice is the result of a 2nd calf heifer purchase from Clear Springs Cattle Co. After Admiring and watching a full sister sell for $16,000 last year to JS Simmentals. We decided the we needed to own the factory with this bull calf inside. We couldn’t be more pleased with grow, depth and structural integrity presented by Clear Choice. This bull not only excel on hoof but on paper as well being in the top 25% of breed for calving ease, WW and YW while boasting 160 API putting him in the top 1% of breed. Homo Black & Homo Polled.

Schooley Miss Z2964

Due 3/22/18 to Schooley Legend 3786 (ASA: 3180377)

Wow what an opportunity here! There is cow power bred into this female. Her dam the 296 donor has quickly made her way to the front of the donor pen right behind her momma 6031. She has produced two full sisters to 657D both selling as opens at the NWSS averaging $12,000. As well as a full brother that was named Reserve Champion % Simmental bull at 2017 NWSS. 657D is as impressive on hoof as she is on pedigree. Elegant designed, soft sided, and glides around the pen on a huge foot and bone. Here is your opportunity to let Zeva write her story for you. Due 2/18/18 to Koch Big Timber 685D (ASA: 3133113)

Lot 31 - Mother was our pick of Jeff Schaeffer Angus herd in South Dakota and boy has she produced. We have been mating her to P2b and this 639D is a unequaled in depth and power. Most of the time when you create such a beast they cant move. Not the case here! You can drive all over the country and I challenge you to find females like her. Bred to Timber for ž out cross that should be well worth the drive to Bloomfield.

Lot 31 Friday February 2, 2018 at 6:30 pm - Page 22

Front Pasture Females

Lot 30 - A direct daughter of the Great Pays to Believe and one of our best Angus cow families. Here is a female that seems to impress us daily with her boldness of rib, length of spine and fault free movement. Carl Hawkins purchased her maternal sister lot 52 in last years sale.

Front Pasture Females

Lot 32 - Goes back to 942 Emblazon cow that stands the test of time. Those cattle are not gonna win the Denver stock show, but they will pay for farms and allow you to be a rancher. Growing up in the sale barn I’ve noticed that feet and legs are the number 1 reason to cull a cow. Rest assured you will like what p2b progeny will stand on. This female is a no brainer. Bred to Hooks Beacon for a difference maker. Planned Mating EPD’s CE 17.1, BW -1.3, WW 60.9, YW 91.9, API 151.3, TI 77.4.

Lot 35 - Schooley URA Believer daughter out of a Lut 720 female that continues to amaze us. Those females that we sell daughters out of 10 year old cows don’t need foot notes. You can ask the Engles, Mootharts what sire they would suggest and they would say URA Believer (full Brother to P2B) because those cattle have more internal dimension any sire they’ve used. Front Pasture Females

Lot 34 - Absolutely the widest load of the offering, you wont find a SimAngus anywhere with anymore 3 dimensional appearance then this Schooley URA Believer female here. So good thru her front and yet sound off her back end. This female is why we breed cattle, her hoof shape and heal depth are unmatched. 622D is sure to impress the most critical cattlemen and women. I want a chance at her Unified calf. Planned Mating EPD’s CE 12.8, BW -0.2, WW 64.9, YW 101.4, API 119.9, TI 71.4.

Lot 47 - Everyone who visits ask about this absolute ground sow! She gets me going as well because her mother out of Grandmaster is one of the most promising 3 year olds in our herd. This female was sired by a De Es Ro Angus bull that we weren’t able to get papers on. Buy with confidence, you will be hearing much more from the 627 cow family.

Lot 47 Friday February 2, 2018 at 6:30 pm - Page 30

Front Pasture Females

Lot 46 - Picture perfect, and just as impressive in person. You just study her and the way she make every transition from front to back. The way she ties into her neck and shoulders and if that’s not enough she her feet and legs are unreal. Theirs a reason her dad Ebony Force is still running behind our cows, because his feet are perfect. If you want longevity then you must use great footed cattle. Planned Mating EPD’s CE 14.5, BW -1.5, WW 61.2, YW 93.4, API 129.6, TI 72.5.

Front Pasture Females

Lot 48 - I’ve been watching this heifer since weaning and I told Andrew we were going to keep her around to replace her mother 107 donor. Well here she is in the sale for your appraisal! Heifer that I would say is fault free in her skeleton and design, plenty of depth of body. Striking in her appearance best describes 660D. Almost forgot to mention her full Brother was named Power bull in Denver and now Resides at TF Cattle. Planned Mating EPD’s CE 13.3, BW 0.7, WW 62.0, YW 89.4, API 124.6, TI 73.0.

Look for a female with outstanding brute cow characteristics, udder shape, do ability, feet and legs. 607D will sell with a blue eye, but her Unified calf will not. Front Pasture Females

Lot 50 - No Remorse female stacked with phenotype and pedigree. This female might just be as versatile as any female in the offering since she a ¾ blood. We mated her to Unified for percentage but you may try her for purebreds. Planned Mating EPD’s CE 10.8, BW -0.9, WW 58.8, YW 88.8, API 115.4, TI 66.6.

Front Pasture Females

Lot 52 - Out of what is probably the herd favorite no miss cow on the farm. This feminine featured heifer offers that sleek front-end and eye appeal we all search for. She carries that upper rib shape and dimension throughout. Half sister sold to Tarr family for $4250 couple years back. Her mating back to legend bull throws two of our best cow families together and could be big time. Planned Mating EPD’s CE 10.3, BW 0.8, WW 59.6, YW 87.5, API 112.7, TI 66.7.
