Where were you when our World Cup dreams were dashed? Eoin was at the heart of the drama in Stade de France, Nov 18 th 2009. Reunited with Mick and Shane, the three amigos on that fateful night…

After emigrating to Germany to find work during the 80’s, Eoin made a new life for himself with the help of his wife Frieda and son Dieter. Now he returns to an Ireland that has boomed and bust.

'The Parting Glass' is a one-man show charting Eoin's journey through love, friendship, family and Ireland's turbulent economic climate.

axis is proud to continue its association with one of Ireland’s best-known writers Dermot Bolger, who brought Ballymun to the professional stage with ‘From These Green Heights’ (Winner Best New Play 2004), ‘The Townlands of Brazil’, ‘Walking the Road’ & ‘The Consequences of Lightning’. ‘The Parting Glass’ is a standalone sequel to Bolger’s hit play ‘In High Germany’.


The Pa rting Glass By Dermot Bolger Performer The show has one Male performer and will require one dressing room with toilet facilities. Ray Yeates is actor for this Tour. Stage Manager The show tours with one male Stage Manager, Andy Campbell. As well as insuring all aspects of the show are prepared correctly the stage manager will also call the show and operate sound. This is preferably done from the control box. On runs of two or more shows washing facilities for costume would be appreciated. Technician The show also tours a technical manager Nicholas Codd who is responsible for all aspects of the shows set/LX get in and get out. This technician will also act as LX operator for the show and primary contact for the duration of the run. Other Staff In certain Venues a chief LX may be required for the relight; this will be decided for individual venues. There will be a requirement of at least one but preferably two technicians from each venue to assist with the rig, focus and get in of the show. Thesetechnicians should have comprehensive knowledge of the venue and its facilities. There will be assistance as required allocated to each venue for Load in and out of the set. Lighting Over head is a four colour wash upstage, with a general warm and cool wash downstage. There are also a series of specials using pin spots and profiles. Front of house consists of two rows of profile providing both specific and general cover. Two pairs of profiles placed as low as possible on the FOHboom provide a cross wash. There are six booms with pairs of head height fresnels and various pinspot specials. There are two purpose built rows of 150w floods mounted up the inside of the hard black masking to light the canvassstrip. There are two rows of howie battens at the foot of the canvassstrip. The company will tour an etc 125 desk with show or have the show on disk in various formats.

Staging


The Pa rting Glass By Dermot Bolger Three rolls of grey Marley 12 metres long x 1.5metres wide, layed over lapped giving a playing space of 4 meters deep taped on downstage setting line. Two vertical Black Hard Maskers 1.5 wide metres x 6 metres high, free standing (4 stage weights or screw floor fixing). One Canvasstrip 3 metres wide x 7 metres high, weighted at both ends by scaff bars and fixed to the rig at the top by Gclamps. Three standard airport benches, 4 seaters (steel). Sound All sound is presented using QLABon a MACnotebook requiring two Mono mic inputs on House Desk. All sound requires standard Front of house PA and one on stage monitor. Properties and set dressing One bag with water bottle and clothes. Transport Owen Sherwin is to provide all transport for the Irish Tour of ‘The Parting Glass’, utilising a 7.5 ton Luton Box van with Tail Lift. There will also be various trolleys and moving equipment to assist with the heavy set pieces. Get in/out If a Pre-rig of the LX is provided it will be a minimum 6 hour get in, 2 hours for set installation and fix and 4 hours for focus, rig, plot and sound checks. Without a pre-rig a minimum 10 hours would be required. If Lx remains fixed it would be possible to strike the set in 2hrs, and reset it in 2 hours. There must be a 2 hour allocation for any turn around. Risk assessment Seeattached documents. Notes The actor enters stage left at the top of the show and remains on stage for the entirety of the two acts, which has a running time on 1 hour 35 minutes with no interval. No other exits are used, but depending on the venue the actor may exit through the auditorium down stage right.
