With key concepts such as a holistic approach, cooperation and excellence in knowledge-building, the faculty shall contribute towards advances within the prevention, alleviation and treatment of disease and ill-health. About 6500 students and 850 PhD students are enrolled at Sahlgrenska Academy. Approximately 1,600 people are employed. 860 of them are researchers and/or teachers. 2010 Sahlgrenska Academy had a turn over of almost 2,100 million SEK. Both education and research is conducted in close cooperation with the Västra Götaland region, particularly the Sahlgrenska University Hospital.

Future Faculty at Sahlgrenska Academy Future Faculty is an organization at Sahlgrenska Academy for those in the middle of their career. Our members have a PhD degree and are actively involved in research but do not have a permanent position as lecturer or professor. To support junior scientists, Future Faculty acts as a network to facilitate collaboration among junior scientists. Future Faculty also organizes member meetings on relevant subjects for the junior researcher (from scientific to political) and interacts with the Academy concerning topics of interest to junior scientists. Future Faculty wishes to inspire and encourage the Academy to support and maintain the competence of junior scientists in their strategic plan for excellence in both research and teaching. Future Faculty is run by a board which represents each institute at the Sahlgrenska Academy. Co-chairs are Sandra Olsson and Erik P책lsson. We can be reached at futurefaculty@sahlgrenska.gu.se. For more information see www.sahlgrenska.gu.se/forskning/future_faculty.
