Godolphin&Latymer
Annual Giving Programme 2013/14
Why support Annual Giving? Our Annual Giving Programme supports projects designed to enhance the broad-based educational experience that is a hallmark of the school. Each year, we seek funding for projects that give our girls an extra dimension to their G&L education. Annual Giving contributions also help fund bursaries. We are committed to enabling talented girls to fulfil their academic and personal potential at Godolphin and Latymer, regardless of their financial circumstances. This not only benefits the individual recipients, but also adds a diversity to the school community that enriches us all.
How will Annual Giving donations be used in 2013/14? This year, in addition to bursaries, donations to the Annual Giving Programme will help fund the installation of a state-of-the-art drama studio, a suite of Apple computers for the Music Department and the modernisation of an additional science laboratory. Drama Studio Drama is extremely popular at Godolphin and Latymer. Last year, 333 pupils, almost half the school, performed in six school theatre productions. In addition to A Level, AS Level and IB Theatre Studies courses, the school is offering GCSE Drama for the first time this year. With more pupils than ever choosing to study drama, G&L would like to create an integrated modern drama studio which will benefit girls at all levels of study. The new drama studio will include: LED theatre lighting; a paging system connected to the current stage management system in the Bishop Centre; audio visual recording equipment connected to the recording studio in the Music School; suitable performance flooring; and an up-to-date sound system.
Suite of Apple Computers The Music Department would like to replace its outdated, Windows-based PCs with a suite of Apple computers and iPads. The Apple computers, with their music-friendly software, would benefit girls across all years in their curricular and extra-curricular musical pursuits. The new Macs and iPads would enable the girls to capture class performances and allow them to layer their compositions, affording scope for further creativity. The Apple suite would also provide immediate and reliable access to their coursework.

Science Laboratory With the support of last year’s Annual Giving Programme, G&L refurbished three science laboratories. We wish to modernise an additional laboratory next summer. Our aim is to refurbish all our labs over the next few years and create spaces where the girls can work collaboratively and teachers can employ the most up-to-date teaching techniques.
Bursary Support We are committed to ensuring a Godolphin and Latymer education is available to girls of intellectual promise from a wide range of financial backgrounds. The school has developed an outreach programme designed to attract more bursary applicants. We regularly hold events for local state primary schools, as well as invite their pupils to take part in science, drama and sports activities at G&L. As the number of applicants continues to grow, your contribution will help us fund additional bursary places.
How were your gifts used last year? Thanks to the generous support of current and past parents, Old Dolphins and friends of the School, the 2012/13 Annual Giving Programme provided funding for the following projects: • • •
Modernisation of three science laboratories 20 state-of-the-art SLR cameras and two large-format digital cameras for the Art and Design Department Support for the Bursary Fund
