BIO -‐ Stuart
ERIC STUART joined the Steel Manufacturers Association (“SMA”) in September 1996, as a staff officer. The SMA consists of 30 North American companies that operate 115 steel plants, and employ approximately 40,000 people in North America. The SMA is the primary trade association for scrap-‐based electric arc furnace steelmakers, representing approximately half of the steel produced in the US. The SMA has 120 associate members that supply goods and services to the steel industry.

Since 1999 Eric has held management positions with the SMA, including Manager, Committee Affairs (1999), Director, Environment & Energy (2005), and most recently, Vice President, Environment & Energy (2010).

Eric earned his bachelor’s degree in political science – international relations from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1991, and his master’s degree in Western European Studies from the University of Connecticut in 1992.

Eric is a native of the great state of Idaho, and he and his wife, Jennifer, and daughter Penelope, reside in Alexandria, Virginia.
