Avoid frustration. Save time and money. No more messy DC-4 compound. No more stabbed cans. No more busted knuckles. No more bad words. At your next filter change, UPGRADE to state-of-the-art Tempest Spin-EZ oil filters - the filter that comes off without a fight! The only thing stuck now is our competition.

3022 & 3023

Tempest’s Spin-EZ filters are designed to come off easy. Heat, time and pressure can extrude oil, grease, DC4® compound or similar liquid lubricants from between a filter’s rubber seal and the filter mount pad - leaving the filter seemingly “bonded” to the engine’s mount pad - and making it nearly impossible to remove. Tempest’s proprietary Spin-EZ adhered solid seal lubricant stays where it’s supposed to - between the seal and the mount pad’s surface. Spin-EZ solid lubricant won’t extrude or squirt out from under the seal. It prevents the bond forming environment that makes legacy filters stick.

WEATHER WATCH

A watch means that conditions are favorable for severe storm/tornado development. Take these actions when a watch is issued: • Secure items that could be blown away in high winds. • Continue to monitor the weather for any changes or additional alerts. • Be prepared to unplug your electric cord from the electric pedestal. • If camping by your aircraft, make sure it is tied down securely. You may not use “dog leash” tiedowns to secure your aircraft.

WEATHER WARNING

A warning means that dangerous weather is threatening the area. It is important for you to monitor weather conditions and not just rely on the sirens to be sounded to notify you of imminent severe weather.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING

A severe thunderstorm warning is issued when winds reach 58 mph or greater and hail has been measured 3/4 inch in diameter. • Take shelter in your camper. • If you are in a tent or small camper (e.g. a pop-up), take shelter in your vehicle. • If a shelter or vehicle is not available, find a low spot away from trees, fences, and poles, but make sure the spot is not prone to flash flooding. If you cannot avoid trees, try to stay in the area of shorter trees. Cover your head with your hands and lie down on the ground.

TORNADO WARNING

A tornado warning is issued when a tornado has been spotted or indicated by radar. County emergency sirens will be activated when a warning has been issued for the area. • Move away from your camper and find a ditch, depression, or low area and lay down, covering your head with your hands. • As a last choice, secure yourself in your vehicle, with the vehicle running so that the air bags can be deployed (if your vehicle has air bags). Keep your head lower than the vehicle windows and cover your head with your hands.

GROUNDS ACCESS INFORMATION / 2018

NEW GROUNDS ACCESS RULES JULY 19-22 The growth of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is tremendous, but it’s led to some logistical challenges. Due to the unique nature of the event, final AirVenture prep work is taking place while thousands of people are arriving on the grounds with their airplanes, motorhomes, and other camping equipment. To improve safety, security, and mobility in these final hectic days before AirVenture opening day, several new policies are going into effect in 2018. These new procedures will be in place from Thursday, July 19 through Sunday, July 22. Grounds Access: Entry will be allowed to credentialed vehicles ONLY through Gates 33 (Waukau Avenue) and 26 (Knapp Street Rd/Theater in the Woods). Other vehicle gates will be closed. Noncredentialed vehicles are NOT allowed on the grounds, the same as during AirVenture week. Personal golf carts, scooters, bicycles and other such vehicles are also prohibited. The restricted area (shown on map) will be enforced in order to ensure safety for everyone involved as AirVenture preparation is underway. Exhibitors and vendors within the restricted area will receive special pre-event lanyard credentials. While early AirVenture attendees — such as those arriving with their aircraft — will not require wristbands until Sunday, July 22, they are asked to avoid entering the restricted area. Non-credentialed volunteers will be allowed onto the grounds ONLY to pick up credential packets from their chairmen. EAA security will be present in the restricted area. Non-credentialed vehicles will be turned away or asked to leave. Exhibit Hangar Access: Thursday, July 19 through Sunday, July 22, there will be strict enforcement of access to Exhibit Hangars A-D. Only credentialed exhibitors and vendors are allowed during open hours from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on those days. 16

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2018

Aviation Gateway Park Access: From Thursday, July 19 through Sunday, July 22, there will be strict enforcement of access to Aviation Gateway Park exhibit facilities such as the Innovation Showcase, UAV Showcase, and Education/Career Center. Access is limited to credentialed exhibitors and vendors, and only between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. At 6 p.m. sharp, doors will be locked. Outdoor Exhibit Access: Outdoor exhibits are not open until Monday, July 23. Visitors on the grounds before that time are asked to give space to allow exhibitors to finish setting up their areas and to exercise caution anywhere around the outdoor exhibit areas due to the presence of equipment used to prepare the areas for the fun hustle and bustle of AirVenture. Thank you for your cooperation! This is a new policy this year, one undertaken with safety foremost in mind. There is a tremendous amount of work that must be completed in the final days before AirVenture opens, and we want to give our staff, volunteers, exhibitors, and vendors every opportunity to safely and effectively prepare for the World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration.

The only thing that precedes it is its reputation. You won’t see other small aircraft out ahead of a Mooney — figuratively or literally. It’s a natural result of our obsession with piston singles. We’re not distracted by turbines. Or other flights of fancy. We simply create extraordinarily efficient, fast piston airplanes. With exceptional integrity. Built for pilots. Assembled by hand. And delivered with love. Reality is, the biggest competitor to a Mooney is another Mooney. At least we know our competition well.

COME SEE WHAT'S NEW IN HANGAR C

The essential, integrated flight app. MY BEST CO-PILOT ForeFlight became my best friend when I started back in the air after 20+ years. Amazing. Now it makes me look like a genius in all aspects: briefing, approaches, weather, routes, and filing - you name it. And on top of that, team@foreflight.com is all over any request with needed answers or advice. Thank you ForeFlight, I do not fly without you. - MeAtWork, CMEL App Store Review

Improve Your Safety and Proficiency in IFR and VFR Flight All EAA members are eligible to participate in their local EAA chapters.

Through EAA’s network of local chapters, the EAA IMC Club offers monthly chapter meetings in which instrument-rated pilots can share experience, promote safety, and help improve one another’s flying skills by working through real-world IMC scenarios.

Non-instrument rated pilots looking to improve their flying skills now have an excellent new resource through EAA’s VMC Club. Based on the popular IMC Club concept, the VMC Club provides organized “hangar flying” for pilots who fly primarily under visual flight rules.
