MISSION STATEMENT Throughout my five years of architectural education, I’ve worked rigorously to hone my skills in preparation for a successful future as a professional. All of my life experiences have attributed to my passion for this profession, from growing up in New York City, to attending Architecture School at the University of Miami (Coral Gables), to studying abroad in Rome & St. Petersburg, and every experience in between. These opportunities have allowed me to develop a unique skill set, possessing adept computer skills in Auto CAD, Revit, Google SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, & Illustrator, in addition to in depth hand drafting, sketching & water color abilities. These skills set me apart as a young professional; my ability to quickly sketch my ideas on paper enables me to communicate my design more effectively. Through combining media, I am able to present my designs in a dynamic way. As a Print Journalism Minor, I was able to gain experience in layout design & journalistic writing, having the opportunity to write articles for my school newspaper, The Hurricane. With a Certificate in Historic Preservation, which served as an additional minor, I have extensive knowledge in the field of preservation, restoration & rehabilitation. I am also a certified LEED Green Associate, eager to become more involved in Green Design, with the hope to become a LEED A.P. in the near future.

COTTONWOOD APARTMENT COMPLEX, COTTONWOOD, UT ARC 203 - Fall 2009 - Prof. Oscar Machado Ink on Mylar This project, located in Cottonwood, UT, proposes an apartment building with retail on the ground floor for the new downtown community. The project aimed to comprehensively evaluate apartment layouts during a week long charrette with fellow studios, where students thoroughly analyzed apartment typologies. The project incorporates local architectural aesthetic to lend the building a sence of place. To enhance the future downtown community in Cottonwood, retail, parking and storage spaces were located on site. The apartments are efficient in their layouts, allowing space for ammenities such as balconies and laundry rooms in each apartment.

A proposed ballroom design for the new town plan of Schooner Bay in the Bahamas is an integral part of the town center for the future planned community. The building will serve as a cultural hub for locals, hosting events year round. The project incorporates traditionl Bahamian design aesthetic, utilizing covered porches, cascading garden space, and wood construction. Through conducting daylighting and ventilation studeies, the project was able to enforce Green Architectural ideals throughout the building. The integrated local aesthetic in the design provides a sence of place to the proposed Ballroom, anchoring the project to the Bahamian Community.

“VIEW FROM THE NEVA”, ST PETERSBURG, RUSSIA ARC 407, Open City Studio, St. Petersburg Prof. Teofilo Victoria, Adib Cure, Jorge Trelles, & Rafael Fornes Auto CAD & PhotoShop This drawing depicts an iconic veduta of St. Petersburg, looking across the Neva River to the Hermitage Plaza with the Winter Palace, Admiralty Building & Alexander Column anchoring the view. This drawing was constructed on Auto Cad through combining historic documentation of each depicted building with on site measurements to create one cohesive image of the city. The boarder of the veduta is an excerpt from Aleksander Pushkin’s infamous poem, The Bronze Horseman, a poem which has had a lasting imprint on Russian Literature. The selected excerpt paints a picture of the splendor of St. Petersburg. The drawing and poem combined reflect the elaborate & ornate architectural aesthetic which composes the city known as the “Window to the West.”

UPPER LEVEL PLAN

The Miami Maritime Museum is a significant cultural center for the Downtown Community. Here, visitors can appreciate Miami’s influential role in maritime history. Through incorporating cascading lawns & plazas and integrated garden spaces, visitors are able to appreciate the significant landmarks surrounding Museum Park. Visitors enter the museum 12’ above grade, offering a unique vantage point of the city. The smaller exterior galleries, with outdoor viewing decks, allow visitors to easily circulate around the tripple story main exhibition space. Upon returning to the main hall, patrons gain a more in depth understanding of Miami’s maritime history, and a more unique persspective on the exhibit.

^ SECTION/ELEVATION THROUGH SUNKEN PLAZA LOOKING WEST LOCATION MAP, ROME >

The Centro per Belle Arti is located at the southern end of Mussolini’s Foro Italico in northern Rome, an area where modernism has found a home. Here, artists attend six month fellowships, immersing themselves in Roman culture as inspiration for their art. The Center is composed of three buildings, separating work, study, & living spaces through the placement of gardens & plazas as spatial transitions. The juxtaposition of the three buildings creates a colonaded interior street, flanked by retail & public galleries, funneling patrons to the tranquil rear garden. This transition from tight to open space simmulates the experience of walking through the medieval streets of Historic Rome, followed by the relief of arriving at an open plaza. A footbridge connects buildings A & B on the second level, a private access point between the dormitories & studio spaces.

ROPER ST FRANCIS HOSPITAL, BERKELEY, SOUTH CAROLINA ARC 510, Healthcare Studio - Spring 2013 - Prof. Joanna Lombard CAD - Photoshop - InDesign - Sketches, Ink & Prisma Color - Water color Conveniently located off main Highways 176 and 17A, Carnes Crossing is a new planned community nesseled in the wooded wetlands of the Low Country. Roper St. Francis Hospital, Berkeley County, is at the center of this community, serving as a source of stability and culture for locals. Flanking the main boulevard, hospital resources are brought dierctly to the community; the more public functions are situated along the main boulevard, while the more private functions flank the wetlands. This pedestrian friendly area incorporates plazas and small gardens to draw the community to the building, a theme that is repeated trhoughout the town plan; a series of gardens and small parks draw locals through the town. A nature trail surrounding the community offers a transition from the rustic wetlands to the urban community. Careful consideration for local architectural typologies guided the development of the elevation; the bold use of brick, stair towers, covered colonaded walkways & the monumental central tower allow the hospital to become a significant symbol for the community.

PATIENT ROOM: The Patient Rooms are intended to provide a comfortable setting where patients can feel at ease. With familiar and warm materials, such as wood bookshelves and floors, patients feel at home. The room incorporates inboarded bathrooms which create a sitting area for family members.

^ ROOM PLAN

^ ROOM PLAN, MEZZANINE

The proposed re-design of the Packard Hotel in Historic Old Havana focuses on incorporating traditional Cuban design aesthetic into an innovative and rational design, anchoring the most prominent corner of the city. The hotel’s aestchetic is inspired by the significant historic architeture seen throughout Havana, which now stands in near ruin. The classical inspired plans and elevations respect the surrounding historic buildings while showcasing the complex details of Cuban architectural typologies.

< As an addition to the standing remains of the former Hotel Packard’s facade, the design recalls the aesthetic of traditional Cuban archetypes. The hotel’s design emulates the typical transition through the Cuban house, bringing guests from the public realm to private space through a series of courtyards.

<

Main Lobby Plan with Interior Elevations. The main lobby space serves as a transition from the busy streets of Havana to the interior courtyards of the building. This transition is typical in traditional Cuban design, transitioning visitors from public space to private space. With the use of Cuban tiled floors, double height columns and small intimate seating areas, the lobby welcomes visitors to the Packard Hotel.
