This event was named to remember a long-time and dedicated volunteer, Mike Martin, who was sadly lost to the community in October 2016.

Deeply committed to the Hamilton area, Martin served on the board of the Community Memorial Foundation and chaired the tournament in its very successful inaugural year.

The tournament recognizes his leadership skills, commitment to the hospital and the local community, and wonderful personality.

Martin, a 1964 graduate of Rome Free Academy and Colgate University class of 1969, served on several local committees spearheading economic initiatives and was an active volunteer for Colgate University as trustee and president of the Alumni Council.

“The Mike Martin Memorial Golf Tournament is a wonderful emony traditionally begins at 7 p.m.

The board approved Limestone Creek Hunt’s request to use village streets for its traditional Parade of Hounds on the fundraiser. The day is exceptionally well organized, making the event a really enjoyable way to raise much needed funds for our local hospital and health care system – which is essential to our community,” tournament partipant and event sponsor Alex Erath, said. “Our team had a great time, and we already plan to play again next year.”

For their overall work during the 202223 school year, the athletic programs at Cazenovia and Chittenango High School were both named as “Schools of Excellence” by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association.

In order to receive this, both schools needed to have 75 percent of their varsity teams achieve NYSPHSAA’s Scholar-Athlete award during their respective seasons.

In Cazenovia’s case, this means at least 17 of its 22 varsity squads were recognized, while at Chittenango 15 of its 20 varsity teams reached that same level.

Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Nessa Barrett,” she said.

She is eagerly awaiting the release of her single “Still Want It.”

The project originated as an assignment for one of her Berklee classes.

The song reflects on some of the aspects of Gara’s own life, like her start in music while singing on the New York subway as a child, to the challenges she faced when she left her hometown as a young adult.

“I didn’t realize how hard it would be to chase my dreams alone,” she said, reminiscing about her family in Cazenovia who would always support her, the special spots familiar to her, and the closeness of her family.

The adjustment was tough.

“You don’t know how much your identity is shaped by where you’re from until you leave,”

But while it has been a challenge, she is pushing through and feels she has grown a lot as a person since moving to California.

Gara will be graduating with her master’s degree in December, and hopes to focus on writing songs for other artists.

“I think of myself as a story articulator and lyric bedazzler for artists,” she said. “Songwriting has been a pillar of light for me and has gotten me through the hardest of times, so it is my joy to share that sunshine with other artists.”

She also loves releasing songs for herself and hopes to develop her own individual career down the line.

Right now, Gara hopes her new single serves as an inspiration to other young adults who are getting started in life and going after what they want, letting them know that they are not alone if they do struggle.

“I hope this song resonates with the many twenty-somethings who are chasing a dream and it hasn’t been easy,” she said. “I can’t compare
