ood evening Ladies and Gentlemen and welcome to the 18th show presented by Phoenix Productions. We are thrilled and excited to perform for you for the next four nights the much loved family favourite ‘Peter Pan’ Since its inception in 1998 Phoenix Productions has grown and developed into what we know is an important aspect of many peoples’ lives both young and old. The enthusiasm shown by this year’s cast and crew has been exemplary, as usual! We have a large cast of 62 young people who have spent many weeks polishing and perfecting their performances. Our crew equally have shown huge attention to detail from the beginning to the end of this process, for this we are very grateful and I know you as an audience will appreciate. We continue to be amazed and thankful for the support of many people who have given of their time and expertise to Phoenix Productions. I salute, acknowledge and thank you all for your hard work, friendship and support, without which we simply could not survive.
in her first outing with Phoenix and to the rest of our Production Team break a leg! We wish to take this opportunity to thank our Main Sponsor, Nightly Sponsors, and Media Sponsors. Those who have supported our ‘Make Peter Fly Project’ and contributed to our Show Programme. We sincerely hope that you enjoy your evening and by all means feel free to come back again and to tell your relatives, neighbours and friends about our show and encourage them to come and celebrate the energy and vibrancy of this musical experience and celebrate the talent of our cast.

Thoughts from Neverland he eternal difficulty of choosing a show that ticks all boxes for the cast of Phoenix and its very faithful audience has led us here to Neverland. This is the Irish premiere of this version of the classic children’s tale. Neverland is made up of Pirates that are buffoons, a very alarmed ticking crocodile with indigestion, mermaids, Indian Braves, Londoners and the Darling family. Incidentally, the Darling children are looked after by Nana, the nursemaid, who happens to be a Newfoundland dog. As if that weren’t enough, Peter Pan drops in to disturb the lives of this family. They fly off to Neverland to pursue a series of big adventures. The objectives which Phoenix Productions has pursued since 1998 are even more important in today’s uncertain world. The common goal by all of its members to present a musical theatre production that is worthwhile artistically and capable of remaining an annual event is more challenging now. Profound societal changes that have taken place in the lives of young people, many due to the pervasive nature of Social Media platforms from which there is no respite. The pursuit of common purposes and shared goals is at the root of community.
We welcome Debbie Kiernan as Choreographer to Peter Pan. Debbie has worked with Thurles Musical Society for a number of years and we are thrilled to welcome her on board.
We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of so many and wish to acknowledge the amazing contribution made to the community by the Lisheen Mine and Dew Valley. To our sponsors, patrons, friends and advertisers we express our heartfelt gratitude.
Thank you, finally to the community, for Supporting Peter Pan
The Trojan work done by the Committee, led by Mary Blake must be acknowledged and her huge contribution to the Phoenix family cannot be overstated.
Finally a massive thank you to Eoin Cannon, Director, David Wray, Musical Director, John O’Donoghue, Artistic Director, Declan O’Sullivan of Star Systems and Technical Director and Allan Butler, Stage Manager.

Synopsis London Town is strangely ill-at-ease. Rumours abound that babies have gone missing from their perambulators and, as darkness falls, city workers hurry home to their families. In the Darling House, in a backwater in Bloomsbury, Mr and Mrs Darling wish they didn’t have to go out for the evening, but needs must. Leaving their children, Wendy, Michael and John, under the watchful eyes of Lisa, the maid and Nana, their Newfoundland dog they reluctantly bid their brood goodnight. As silence descends on the nursery, a small ball of light, no larger than a gentlewoman’s fist, enters the room – it is Tinkerbell. The mischievous fairy flits frantically about as if searching for something. Moments later, the windows swing open and Peter Pan files into the nursery. Wendy is awoken and helps Peter to reattach his

shadow and, with the promise of regaling Peter and the Lost Boys with bedtime stories, she is invited to accompany him on his flight home. Wendy can’t leave her brothers behind, so she wakes John and Michael and with a sprinkling of fairy dust, the children join Peter Pan and Tinkerbell as they fly out of their nursery window and across a moonlit London. But Never Land is not as carefree as Peter had suggested. There are bloodthirsty Pirates, warrior Indians and malevolent Mermaids – and above all, there is Capt. James Hook, Peter Pan’s Eton-educated nemesis who is forever followed by a deadly, ticking Crocodile. Bloomsbury seems another world away…
