As part of the product evolution, processes which were once completed by individual machines are now typically run through a single piece of equipment or a modular system. This increasingly complex production sequence must be managed and monitored through highlyfunctional, intuitive, human-machine interfaces which allow operators to do their jobs with speed and accuracy. EAO worked with a manufacturer of label converting and finishing equipment to understand their requirements for a control system. This client is a global leader, with high-tech facilities in the UK,
Netherlands, Spain, Germany and United States. One of their foremost systems is a complete modular solution to digital converting with options for hot and cold foil wrapping, flat bed applications, screen printing, lamination, camera systems and more. Solution There are two main control panels for operating this equipment, both built inhouse by the customer. A primary, central control panel allows operators to set-up new production processes and monitor existing ones. An industrial PC with a resistive touchscreen is used to control and monitor production sequences. It features a large graphic display and virtual keypad for scrolling though on-screen menus.
