Introductory Statement Researching the active points of the city, I found that there are many mixed buildings, which exist in the city like islands. There are multiple mixed and uncertain states in the area. Use this kind of ignorance of building types to create unexpected associations of things, so that unrelated functions are placed in a building, and related buildings and structures are used together. Each building forms a set of The ecology of unique relationships. Consider how to use this architectural form to activate the vitality of the city and achieve the organic renewal of the city. In Project City declaration after the epidemic , the possible structure of the future city was considered. In project Ship of New Theseus , the subconscious space mapped by the architectural structure was studied by replacing the new and old "parts".

Philosophers and philologists should be concerned in the first place with poetic metaphysics; that is, the science that looks for proof not in, the external world, but in the very modifications of the mind that meditates on it. Since the world of nations is made by men, it is inside their minds that its principles should be sought. —Giambattista Vico, Principles of a New Science, 1759

As the new crown virus is raging, the world order has been changed and challenged again, and the public behavior of society has been destroyed and suppressed to varying degrees in a short period of time. The future changes in human order make physical space encounter great challenges. Do the previous building types need to be readjusted? Will there be a new type of building? How will the public domain in the future show quality again? Will our spontaneous activities be controlled by rules? As the lifestyles we know are removed from our lives more and more, we need to reimagine the possibilities of the future.

New destination. Start with graphics.

Like the pattern in the blanket, although the pattern is clear, everyone's understanding is different. Or conversely, the clearer the graphics, the more open to a complex evolution. —1787 Aldo Rossi

When we looked out from the airplane porthole, the new city surprised us. It was a collection of linear elevated, circular platforms, square houses, columnar towers... all kinds of clear graphics appeared in front of us, in this view Behind the seemingly clear graphics, there are clues that have been obtained through complex evolution. No matter where your starting point is, as the plane lands at the International Airport in the Outlying Islands District of Hong Kong, you will be greeted with a new experience different from traditional life.

Quarantine station. The gate of the city

After browsing the map, I was asked to fill in an inspection form and looked at the rows of personal information. Some terms that I didn't understand appeared in front of my eyes. Nucleic acid testing, negative, and positive, were bound to isolation, high risk... Different people and goods are taken to different quarantine stations, people and goods are separated, and finally different people are also separated, queuing, checking, waiting... The wide vision of the waiting area gives people the hope of facing the unknown fear. Can long-term home isolation bring new experiences to our "future home" life? Can more social functions be integrated? The traditional office space is gradually declining following the expansion of social communication space. Will it change the distance between us? Reorganize the office space. Unprecedented changes in order have appeared in urban public spaces. Does this order limit the scope of our daily activities or even change the social norms of behavior?

"Life can only be explained by life itself."

The description of function is easy to verify, just like the study of urban form, it is just a tool. Looking further, this description is not like naive functionalists, trying to determine the continuous elements between lifestyle and urban structure... We should draw from it the concept that the city is a whole, and learn to study the various manifestations and Activities to understand the overall approach of the city. The test result is negative. The 14-day quarantine in the city will give you plenty of time to learn about it. Rail transit connects the quarantine station and the medical building, the factory's automatic distribution pipeline connects the entire community, and the most common vehicle on the road for ambulances. Everything is different from normal life, but under this whole, each isolated individual is safely connected.

It is possible for people to build a whole par t of the city, that is, concrete urban buildings, although it will encounter practical difficulties in doing so. H o w e v e r, p e r h a p s t h i s project is not so special, but just shows: a major element may respond to the solution of the housing problem in a special way.

The power of placing ‘bad architecture’ within the line of architecture history. —Learn from Las Vegas

This reinterpretation of the archipelago is neither a singular holistic composition, nor a collection of disparate contrasts, but rather an ensemble of parts.

—The Archipelago Theory of Berlin Reconstruction

Studying the mixed architecture of Suzhou proves that Suzhou has archipelago forms, and there are many mixed and uncertain states in the area. This kind of ignoring the type of building creates unexpected associations of things, allowing unrelated functions to be placed in a building, combining related buildings and structures, and forming a set of urban occurrences in each building The ecology of unique relationships. This is a legacy of Suzhou, and this mixed architecture is a powerful statement in the continuation of history. The design of sport ensemble buildings is a reinterpretation of the archipelago.

If the wood on Theseus's ship is gradually replaced until all the wood is not the original wood, is this ship still the original one? --Theseus Paradox

Now let us, by a flight of imagination, suppose that Rome is not a human habitation but a psychical entity with a similarly long and copious past — an entity, that is to say, in which nothing that has once come into existence will have passed away and all the earlier phases of development continue to exist alongside the latest one. If we want to represent historical sequence in spatial terms we can only do it by juxtaposition in space: the same space cannot have two different contents. It shows us how far we are from mastering the characteristics of mental life by representing them in pictorial terms. --Sigmund Freud

The history of the building is in the entity of the building, and the can connect the building with the history. This framework appeared in the abandoned shipyard. It is both a structure and a relic, both an event and a record of time, so it records facts rather than causes. But these are not the only properties of the framework, because it is still an object that can be used to study its own framework. One is the clear nature of the single part, and the other is the metaphorical spiritual space brought by the structure.

Site

The city is actually the base camp for survival and death, and there are many elements in it like signs, symbols and warnings. When the holidays were over, scars were left on the buildings, and sand reoccupied the streets. Except for stubbornly rebuilding it in anticipation of another holiday, nothing is left. --Aldo Rossi

These elements include: the edge of the site, along the river bank, the entrance of the site, the extension of the structure, the view of the dock, etc. These elements stay in the site and act on the building, truly as a mark, a symbol, connecting the relationship between the building and the city.

Antitheses like the coffee table versus the butcher's block, smooth or rough, elegant or coarse, fresh or rotten, raw or cooked, reveal the many conventions in daily life. The firm hand shake, the jovial slap on the shoulder, the charm of the compliment, the buttoning up of your shirt or the knotting of your tie, are all conventions that say something about manners, character or upbringing. --Claude LĂŠvy-Strauss' La pensee sauvage, Paris Pron 1962

Aristotle uses the fourfactor theory (material cause, formal cause, purpose cause, dynamic cause) to resolve Theseus' paradox. In the renewal process of the shipyard, the architect is the driving force. The inheritance and continuity of the old and new structures has resulted in changes in form and material. The purpose of things determines the cause of the purpose, from the original shipyard to a comprehensive cultural center based on the shipyard. In the new ship of Theseus, while retaining the old shipbuilding functions, more new spatial sequences are added.

The Continuity of the Spatial Sequence

These gaps can be understood as refuges for public life without being burdened by procedural meanings or intentions. These monumental shelters are a temporary response to society's social pursuit of meaningful and identical buildings. At this time, the collective meaning of buildings cannot be defined in a self-evident way. --Robert Musil,Der Mannohne Eigenschaften,Be Rowohlt,1930

The old frame is retained, and on this basis, new portal frames are added. The old function shipyard is updated into an exhibition hall. New functions are installed to form a spatial sequence of exhibition, screening, social interaction, experience, dock, and landscape.

It is not a straight passage to the destination. It provides several winding twists in the process of traveling, which are transparent to each other. It seems that this is the beginning of the experience and the end of the tour. The created spatial sequence narrows the distance between the history represented by the structural form and the subconscious spiritual life space.
