What our grads are doing now
A graduate of the Class of 2021, Matt Bushik is in his second year of medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Bushik also volunteers as the assistant girls golf coach for Norwin High School in Irwin, Pennsylvania. “The team, for me, was the main reason I came to Earlham,” says Bushik. “It gave me a built-in friend group, and beyond that, it gave me a real sense of purpose for being there, giving me the motivation to not only do well on the course, but in the classroom as well.”

DIRECTOR OF GOLF AND HEAD MEN’S GOLF COACH
CD HOCKERSMITH is in his second year at Earlham. Prior to Earlham, Hockersmith spent thirteen years playing professional golf on various tours throughout the United States and Latin America. Before embarking on a professional playing career, he served one year as the assistant men’s and women’s golf coach at IUPUI. Hockersmith was a four-year member of the Ball State men’s golf team and also served as a captain for the Cardinals. He took first in the 2004 Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational, earned all-conference honors and was a two-time Academic All-American. He served as team captain his junior year.

CD earned a B.A. from Ball State University in business administration with a minor in marketing. CD, his wife, and their young daughter, reside in Fishers, Indiana.
for four years. Currently, Hill is a major gifts officer in the Office of Institutional Advancement at Earlham. “The golf team still gets together every year for a golf trip to Myrtle Beach,” says Hill. “The bonds forged on the golf team remain as strong now as ever.”
STAN HILL
ASSOCIATE MEN’S GOLF COACH MATT BROWN is in his sixth year at Earlham as the Quantitative Reasoning Center director and second year with men’s golf. Brown also served as assistant coach for the women’s program in 2019. As a player, he was a four-year member of the Hanover College golf team, with one win coming in the 1980 Xavier University-Cincinnati Enquirer Invitational, two AllTournament team finishes and he competed in the 1980 NAIA National Championship.
Brown earned a B.A. from Hanover College in mathematics and an M.S. from Purdue University in pure mathematics. He and his wife reside in Richmond, Indiana, and follow the exploits of their three grandchildren.
