Attendees can expect world-class exhibits, workshops, and special events from key environmental and business leaders encompassing globally recognized corporations, institutions, and other organizations. A few notable new initiatives include the E-Capital Summit, where cutting-edge clean energy start-ups bring innovation to patient capital; EARTHACK, a hackathon focusing on solutions with a positive environmental impact (more than 40 percent of the participants hail beyond Texas); EarthxFilm, our inaugural environmentally focused documentary film festival; Plasticity Texas, where global experts address opportunities and challenges with plastic production and use; and EarthxGlobal Gala, our star-studded evening that celebrates and honors the work of environmental education, impact, and awareness. Now in our seventh year, Earth Day Texas incorporates more than one million square feet of indoor and outdoor space at Dallas’ historic Fair Park. Our event includes entertainment and engaging programming for all ages. Beginning Friday, April 21, families can enjoy three free, actionpacked days of activities such as tree climbing, butterfly observing, scuba diving, a remote-controlled solar car race, LEGO® Build the Change challenge, Science on a Sphere, toy and library booths, film competitions for students, family-friendly film screenings, and much more! This year also marks a key milestone in our journey of growth and transformation. As the largest annual environmental forum sharing the latest initiatives, discoveries, research, innovations, policies and corporate practices, we are moving beyond our Texas roots. Therefore, we are pleased to have made the decision to rebrand to EARTHx and officially be recognized as a national and international environmental intersection for all conversations on conservation. As a result of our extraordinary growth, it is important to acknowledge the key component to our success — YOU! Thank you for your advocacy, loyalty, and commitment to our environment as we continue to grow and ignite positive change.
OUR MISSION Each April, Earth Day Texas hosts the world’s largest public exhibition devoted to environmental stewardship, where attendees come together for breakthrough hope and discovery about how best to achieve a world of sustainable balance. The event is a platform that brings businesses, environmental organizations, academic institutions, and government agencies together to positively inspire people to think, live, and work sustainably.
We look forward to seeing you here and wish you an enlightening and memorable experience!

Chucho is a country, soul and blues band from Fort Worth. The band got its name from a Mexican bandit (Chucho el Roto) from the late 1800s who robbed from the wealthy and gave to the poor. Their debut EP, “Monotonic Tailpiece,” drags bluesy folk into the 21st century with its fresh sound.
The Roomsounds deliver blues-rock with the most sludgy style DFW has heard in a while. However, they are no one-trick pony. Their brilliant songwriting, along with versatile vocals, walks listeners through a museum with displays of country, garage rock, gospel, folk, punk, and more, all with the tour-guide of catchy accessibility.
Medicine Man Revival is a soulful futuristic blend of gospel, R&B, and hip-hop. WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT? The EARTHIKE Challenge with World Oceans Day Join us for the Largest Earth Day Kick-Off event at EDTx leading up to World Oceans Day! From a grassroots perspective, attendees can learn how they can play an active role to support the health of our waterways, oceans and communities at the same time by accepting the challenge to help grab litter and single-use plastic waste while taking “hikes” in your own backyard, without spending a dime. The Challenge begins on Earth Day (April 22) and runs through World Oceans Day (June 8). Join us in The D.E.E.P. End to catch the drift!
Scuba Dive at Earth Day Texas…Really!? Dive in and experience scuba diving with certified master instructors at the “Go Dive Now – Scuba Pool” where attendees can sample some of the newest diving equipment including wetsuits, fins, regulators and tanks. Just don’t forget your swimsuit or you’ll have to come back!
EARTHxFilm Featuring impactful, ocean-themed films from around the world, such as “A Plastic Ocean” and “Chasing Coral.”
The D.E.E.P. End Enjoy interactive exhibits from partner organizations, interactive workshops and engaging panels. We showcase leading global experts who inspire and educate about the delicate balance of our oceans and what you can do to play a positive role, no matter where you live. Ask questions! Discover your favorite organization and plan a dive!

SPEAKERS AT THE SMART TEXAS REVOLUTION
We’ve all heard the word hack-a-thon. But how many of us have actually experienced one in person? You have your chance at EARTHACK at Earth Day Texas. EARTHACK is a hackathon centered on using technology to solve real environmental issues plaguing the world today. Super smart students and technology professionals from around the world gather in groups of five and are presented with real life challenges. They spend 36 straight hours exploring ideas and designing solutions that can be implemented on a global scale. You can have a front row seat.
• William Finch, Chief Information Officer, City of Dallas
Come wander through EARTHACK Central and listen in as great minds work! We teamed up with the largest Hackathon producers in the country which is Hack DFW, and we’re expecting 1,200 participants in the hackathon to descend at Earth Day Texas. CHECK OUT LAST YEAR’S WINNER! The National Wildlife Federation is thankful to Earth Day Texas for selecting a winner that is empowering the citizens of Dallas to make a tangible difference for a species that is in trouble — the iconic Monarch butterfly!
WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT? Originally called EarthTank, the popular program is back and has been renamed EARTHxPitch. This competition awards cash prizes in recognition of important projects and efforts toward conservation, sustainability and environmental education. EARTHxPitch is categorized into four main divisions: • VETERANS DIVISION: Projects and initiatives that support a positive environmental impact in the community while providing veterans an opportunity to pursue their new mission with passion. • ACADEMIC DIVISION: Primary and secondary accredited schools and 501(c)(3) education organizations establishing important projects and campus efforts toward conservation, sustainability and environmental education. • CIVIC DIVISION: Cities that have made an active commitment to improving pollinator health and habitat in their community. Cities that exhibit and have signed The National Wildlife Federation’s Mayors’ Monarch Pledge are invited to submit a proposal. • NONPROFIT DIVISION: Charitable 501(c)(3) organizations that have a positive environmental impact in the community in one or more of the following areas: outdoor learning, healthy lifestyles, conservation and community cleanup, and environmental education.
50
As winners of the 2016 EDTx EarthTank, the National Wildlife Federation has increased awareness about the crisis facing the Monarch butterfly to citizens of all ages in the Dallas Metroplex — and, equally important, has given them the knowledge and tools they need to make a difference for the Monarch in their communities. “Six Dallas ISD campuses have joined our Monarch Heroes Program, and students, teachers and parent volunteers have created habitats for the Monarch butterfly on their campuses, complete with their critical food source—native milkweed. Under the guidance of our Monarch outreach coordinator, the Dallas Metroplex now has a network of entities such as Master Gardeners, the City of Dallas, Texas Discovery Gardens, Texas Master Naturalists, Landscape Architects, and the Native Plant Society of North Texas that are working collaboratively to create an action plan that will help guide the City of Dallas in their Monarch recovery efforts. This action plan is near completion and will be launched in the fall.” – Marya Fowler, Senior Manager of Education and Outreach, National Wildlife Federation
