EASA (European Architecture Students Assembly) is a platform for educational and cultural exchange, connecting architecture students and professionals from all European countries and in recent years, representatives from all over the world. Since 1981, the Assembly gathers each summer, bringing together 500-600 young people from the architectural field and engaging them in workshops, exhibitions, lectures and social events based around a significant and progressive theme. The assemblies are held in a different country each year, which enables the participants to explore different cultural, historical and traditional backgrounds. By discovering new environments each year the EASA community has a chance to reflect upon the lessons that the location presents. The inclusion of these lessons provides a chance for approaching the architectural profession in an extraordinary way. EASA is a non-political and non-profit network consisting of equal members throughout the continent. It is organized by students for students. The network is held together by a system of National Contacts (NCs) who serve as representatives of each country. The contribution of the EASA network has the potential to connect students, universities, locals, architecture and influence people from many professional fields. INCM (Intermediate National Contacts Meeting) is the second annual event, which serves as a decision-making instrument and therefore bears great significance. It takes place each fall and that is when all NCs gather to reflect on the past experiences and decide upon the future of EASA. On their own initiative, teams of different countries give propositions to host the following EASA and INCM events and through consensus the future hosts are chosen. In addition to selecting the future EASA event organizers, it is crucial to focus on the overall development of the EASA community and its members. To this end, it is essential to reserve sessions of the overall schedule during the INCM for EASA Topics – an instrument for discussing the advantages/disadvantages of EASA in order to more effectively implement/improve them in future events. SESAM is another event organized by the EASA network. SESAM can give an addition and/or alternative to the education of the students. The SESAM is a workshop with a small number of participants. The independence and off-university-character creates an informal atmosphere. Through this concentrated character the SESAM allows to work on a tight theme. The themes are connected to issues of the locations.

INCM JATO
THEME JATO can directly be translated and described in English as FLOCK. This is the flock of animals or people constantly changing places - a form of a moving family that separates and then comes back to its own, familiar grounds. If we adopt this mindset of viewing the EASA community as an arbitrary family, then it becomes a JATO of people. A JATO that migrates to different places of the world, welcomed with great hospitality by the local community, which they impact while leaving the environment intact. This JATO links and reanimates the previous EASA experiences in continuity. We are a part of this constantly changing and constantly travelling community, but at the same time the feelings of family, home and EASA spirit that people carry with them are always the same. These are few of the focus points that we want to bring forward on INCM JATO – the idea of family/home and the idea of consistency/continuity through change. During the event we will center the attention on the opportunities for gaining experience by putting the EASA flock into context, merging it with the village locals. EASA as a community aims to influence, teach and learn, hense the concept of a shared habitat was brought to this year’s INCM. By accommodating the attendees of the INCM, the locals of Trpejca will have a chance to participate in a concept and experience that we aim to be useful for both communities.
8
GOALS JATO >> FAMILY >> GOOD RELATIONSHIPS/LOYALTY/SUPPORT/LOVE >> COMMUNICATION
Our purpose during the INCM is to put emphasis on the communication between all particles of the joined communities and to educate ourselves about the different categories of communication. The classification is useful for understanding the sections and the ways they can be implemented. The communication skills that we aim to gain are crucial for the efficient flow of knowledge. INTERRELATED INFORMAL COMMUNICATION The Informal Communication is the casual and unofficial form of communication wherein the information is exchanged spontaneously between two or more persons without conforming to formalities. It is also known as a “grapevine” as it is difficult to define the beginning and end of the communication. In the EASA community it can be portrayed as the EASA spirit which we all carry, nurture and work towards its improvement. The spirit of mutual trust, respect, impulse to help, contribute, grow and prosper as one. LOCAL COMMUNITY Since one of this year’s INCM main focus point is the behavior of the JATO, merged and put into the context of the local community, communication with the hosts is strongly encouraged for the impact to be as big as possible. Trpejca is the chosen location because of the spirit of the hosts – curious, communicative and chatty. The language barrier is just another challenge for creative and positive solutions. INTERRELATED FORMAL COMMUNICATION The category of formal communication used in the EASA network is horizontal communication - takes place when two individuals of the same level exchange information, solve problems and profit by the experience of other people. Formal communication ensures uniformity in the spreading of information and a permanent record of communication between participants in the organization is maintained and used as a reference at any time (final report).

LOCATION Trpejca is an old fishing village located in a natural hollow between the rocks on the east coast of Ohrid Lake, spreading up to the foot of Galichica Mountain. With more than ten centuries of age and cascade topography, Trpejca is rich in layers and contrasts, geographically, culturally and traditionally, as is the nature of our community. Even though the village houses are spreading all over the place, on a steep terrain, it is very easy to get from the highest to the lowest point, while discovering and experiencing something new each time. The small village beach is covered with a tiny white stone, stretched on only 200 meters, hospitable, quiet and special because of the intimacy it offers. Other than traditionally being a fishing village, the cozy backyards are filled with gardens full of locally grown fruits and vegetables, which the locals proudly share with friendly passersby. At three million years old, Lake Ohrid stands as one of Europe’s oldest and deepest lakes, and gives the city of Ohrid (20 km away from Trpejca) the prestige of being named as both a cultural and natural UNESCO World Heritage site. Ohrid is one of Europe’s great biological reserves with endemic and unique species. Once boasting 365 churches, the city of Ohrid has a fascinating architectural layout, full of monasteries, fortresses, castles and an ancient theater. Some of the architecture dates back to 200BC. LOCALS
Trpejca’s locals are known for their hospitality, friendliness and accessibility. The warm and welcoming faces and contrast of personalities induce a feeling of belonging. With only 303 habitants the village functions as one big family, a relationship very similar to the EASA community, as everyone knows, respects and tries to help each other. The grapevine concept is strongly recognizable, distinctive and can become a powerful starting point for learning new ways of spreading information among the joined communities. PLACES OF INCM
The main gathering place of the community is the old village school, located at one of the highest points of the village. The Community Center includes the Info Point and the ‘Chill’ Lounge and transforms into the Bar at night-time. The school porch is the main dining area. The main presentation and discussions space is the tent located next to the sports court, which will also be used for discussions and gatherings.

GUIDELINES
COMMUNICATION AND DISCUSSIONS At this INCM we are focusing on setting the values that we as a community possess. The most important thing that EASA stands for is the sharing of knowledge and our will and resilience which is crucial for improving and evolving as a community. Based on this believes, we wanted to contribute in the development of this systematic mechanism, by preparing a COMMUNICATION AND DISCUSSIONS guidelines pack which will help the attendees to have a more transparent and clear review of the structure of the general agenda which includes the INCM and EASA biddings, EASA topics and GENERAL topics. By introducing different methods in different points during the event, our aim is to help each EASIAN to become able to moderate, manage and make strategic organizational decisions quickly and easily by the end of INCM. This enables the EASIANS to flourish in their own right, landing them in good stead for the organizational decisions they will make for the rest of their lives. Overall tone of the INCM: One of learning, growing, having the courage and gaining the skills to do something beyond EASA. Treating INCM JATO as a learning process, a part of our mutual education. Ideal outcome of the INCM: NCs learn how to improve decision-making processes in the organizations they are a part of back home. This event should provide NCs with a testing ground for methods of discussion and decision making.
16
NCs AND NC ROLE To achieve these desired goals, we want to emphasize the importance of those who are a key factor in this complex process - the NCs. The NC abbreviation stands for National Contact. This means that the person who is carrying this NC role is the Representative of the European Architecture Students Assembly in their country, and at the same time is the Representative of their country on the European Architecture Students Assembly. The role of the NCs during the year and especially before EASA is quite clear - they are responsible to promote the Assembly in their country; inspire young students and spread the EASA spirit; keep a healthy communication with the organizing teams for an efficient information flow in the months between events; and also create strong teams that are able to contribute to the evolution and improvement of the EASA community and architectural community in general. As said before, this INCM is focusing on education and improving the interrelated communication between the members of the EASA community; and also the communication with the locals and local context of the current and future EASA events. To achieve this, the organizers expect from the NCs full-hearted involvement and determination in the discussions and event itself, not only from the aspect of deciding the location and theme of the EASA 2021 and INCM 2020, but also in the will of the NCs to improve themselves and work together to strengthen the community. The NCs are the fuel to the mechanism that is the INCM which keeps EASA moving forward.
