Overall tone of the INCM: One of learning, growing, having the courage and gaining the skills to do something beyond EASA. Treating INCM JATO as a learning process, a part of our mutual education. Ideal outcome of the INCM: NCs learn how to improve decision-making processes in the organizations they are a part of back home. This event should provide NCs with a testing ground for methods of discussion and decision making.

Each EASIAN will be able to moderate, manage and make strategic organizational decisions quickly and easily by the end of the INCM. This enables the EASIANS to flourish in their own right landing them in good stead for the organizational decisions they will make for the rest of their lives.

INCM WORKSHOP

EXCURSION DAY WORKSHOP ( Makedonium Monument ) Discussion Strategies: - INCM Vitosha 2018 Organizers and Moderators share their knowledge and experience on the history of INCM and NC Role on the INCM. - Moderators offer explanations on what consensus and voting is with the purpose of everyone understands the foundational premise of our decision-making strategies. - The community agrees on the values we would like to use to as a ‘measuring stick’, or some kind of a criteria or variable for choosing the next EASA and INCM. - Defining the decision making ‘rules’, such as deciding ‘cut off points’ for eliminating options; determining when consensus is reached at both micro and macro levels; what time should lead to automatic decision; when blocking is appropriate; define useful systems for decision making. - How do we make decisions on an organizational/rather than personal level? Decision making / Discussing methods: - Morphological Box method1 - Smaller group discussions --> Granular consensus + Group feedback cards - Common discussion --> Everyone

Morphological box is a creative thinking tool for producing whole solutions to complex questions, by logically decomposing the discussed topic into a number of variables/factors for which can be identified solutions or ideas. It is best performed by smaller teams to draw upon experience and expertise in that team, but also to allow the freeform thinking necessary to be creative. 8

YOUNG ARCHITECTS DECLARE At the current rate we will reach a 50% likelihood of unstoppable global climate collapse by 2030. We are living through the third mass extinction. There are active movements everywhere to stop irreversible climate change, yet no area emits more CO2 than the built environment which is responsible for Half of all emissions. There are few organisations or groups operating or who can plausibly act in this area, this is the systemic issue. Easa is, as far as we know, the only international assembly that brings together equal architectural representatives from every country in Europe. as-well as representatives from the global south. This means it’s social licence is unique. Collectively we are students and young architects but we also make the future professionals of the built environment and are the closet thing to a global architectural union the world has. To put our scenario in the plainest words possible. We have a clear moral obligation to act now because it is our actions alone can stop the death of this planet, all of its inhabitants and everybody we know. We are future leaders and young architects. We propose to use this INCM to create a radical, youth led, impartial plan and declaration for change-making across the sector. Something we are all happy to help enact in our home turf. INCM Macedonia will be the birthplace of an snap ‘Young Architects declare’ because of the current global emergency. Pooling our ideas and talents to unlock change. We are linking up with the co-founder if Architects Declare, Steve Tompkins who has agreed to connect proposals with this campaign. TOPICS ( Discussions Tent & the Village ) Discussion Strategies: - EASA Topics: Generating all topics of interest to discuss regarding EASA by sharing popular topics from the Google forms. NCs are welcome to add at any point. - General Topics: Brainstorming and deciding on topics to be discussed. Generating a sum of topics of interest to discuss regarding EASA in the architectural network, or in the world in general. - Moderators and organizers present and explain ways of dealing with the topics/issues to be discussed that can guide the discussions in the small groups, i.e. what is happening1 and what is needed2 in relation to the organization. Responses to the organizational drivers3 include: direct action, organizing how work will be done, making governance decision. - NCs get a clear idea of how to work in the groups and how to understand the issues, how to brainstorm and suggest solutions and taking action. 1

What is happening: - the current situation in regards to the topic discussed - the effect of this situation on the organization 2 What is needed: â&#x20AC;&#x201C; the need of the organization in relation to this situation â&#x20AC;&#x201C; the impact of attending to that need - ways to resolve this situation 3 These responses to an organizational driver can be treated as an experiment that is evaluated and evolved over time.

Decision making / Discussing methods: - Sociocratic Principles4 - Smaller group discussions + Group feedback cards - Common discussion --> Everyone - Organizing Workgroups --> Acting on the topic actively after the INCM 16

Sociocracy is a social ideal that values equality and the rights of people to determine the conditions under which they live and work, and an effective method of organizing associations, big and small. It is based on principles, methods, and a structure that create a resilient and coherent system. It relies on transparency, inclusiveness, and accountability to increase harmony, effectiveness, and productivity in groups. 4

Sociocracy is built on seven principles that shape organizational culture: The Principle of Effectiveness: Devote time only to what brings you closer toward achieving your objectives. The Principle of Consent: Raise, seek out and resolve objections to decisions and actions. The Principle of Empiricism: Test all assumptions through experimentation and continuous revision. The Principle of Continuous Improvement: Change incrementally to accommodate steady empirical learning. The Principle of Equivalence: Involve people in making and evolving decisions that affect them. The Principle of Transparency: Make all information accessible to everyone in an organization, unless there is a reason for confidentiality. The Principle of Accountability: Respond when something is needed, do what you agreed to do, and take ownership for the course of the organization. 17

BIDDINGS ( Discussions Tend & the Village ) Discussion Strategies: - EASA 2021 Presentations – NCs structure their thoughts, guided by the common directions from the previous days, and they are prepared with thoughts on each bidding proposal for discussions. - Feedback cards in which NCs can take notes of their discussions; answer questions on strengths and weaknesses; arguments given by NCs for each bidding; the way each bidding relates to the chosen value. - NCs hear each other’s evaluations on each bidding; not about personal preferences, but about analytical evaluation of each proposal according to common ‘measuring stick’. - Bidding teams participate in the discussions in different points. The community is involved in the suggested bids by giving suggestions for improvement; asking questions so loops and wrong assumptions on different issues are avoided; bidding teams discuss issues and leave to reflect and feedback later.
