SUMMER TERM ACTIVITIES
PROGRAMME
Pre-Prep, Juniors, Middles and Seniors early morning, weekdays and Saturdays
ACTIVITIES PROGRAMME
In this booklet you will find details of our morning, after school and Saturday morning activity options for the summer term 2023.
Alongside each activity, you will see which year groups can attend, the staff member leading together with start and finish times. Activities which incur a charge are shown in pink, with the session or termly charge. Charges for these booked activities are billed in arrears and will be shown on your next term’s bill.
Activities can be booked via the School Cloud portal, SchoolCloud – St Andrew’s Prep, Eastbourne . The portal opens for booking on Sunday 12 March and closes on Sunday 19 March.
ACTIVIT y D ESCRIPTIO nS
Staggered opening times for different year groups and selections are as follows:
9.00am Years 5 to 8 – early morning, lunchtime and after school
9.15am Saturdays
9.30am Years 3 and 4
9.45am Pre-Prep
If your child’s chosen club is fully booked and you wish to be added to the waiting list, please email, Jill Garbett at jgarbett@standrewsprep.co.uk
The majority of activities are self-explanatory, but please see below for additional information on our activity choices to give you an insight into what the activity involves.
Pre-Prep
Cracking Coders – The pupils will be introduced to the concept of computer programming using block coding. The activity will involve using different apps and computer-based block coding web sites to learn the basics in a fun way. They will also see how to build and code a robot giving them a better understanding of how it works.
Juniors
Sustainability club – Gives the children a chance to learn about how to care for their environment and world around them and help find ideas to make their school sustainable. We will do this through art, activities and projects.
St Andrew’s Adventurers – Children will learn basic skills including fire lighting, cooking on wood, first aid, erecting tents, etc. Children will need to wear their school tracksuit.
Years 5 to 8
DTI – For Years 6, 7 and 8 who are interested in D&T and may consider taking this subject forward at GCSE. This term children will develop their technical drawing skills. They will use computer software and drawing boards to explore different drawing techniques using these resources.
Orchestra – A chance for anyone who plays a musical instrument (at approximately grade one level upwards) to join a school orchestra. They will prepare a wide variety of different types of music which we will be performing in a big concert in the summer. Please discuss with Mr Cousins to make sure your child is ready to join. We encourage new members wherever possible, and as soon as they feel they can read and play the music we are learning.
Treblemakers – This is an audition only choir. We will be looking at a range of different musical styles – with the intention of performing a piece at the Carol Service at the end of term. Auditions will be held in the first session we meet. Anybody who loves singing is welcome. The auditions are informal but they are important as we want to get a really strong group together to have some fun singing.

Many parents raise queries regarding the charges for activities. Most of these queries relate to activities which have been missed for one reason or another. The policy is very similar to the policy for missed music lessons but to clarify matters for both parents (and those taking activities), our policy is outlined below:
• You will not be charged if a teacher or coach is absent from an activity lesson and there is no-one available to cover the activity.
• You will not be charged when a child is absent due to another school event.
• You will be charged for activity sessions if a child is absent due to illness or a term time holiday.
• You will be charged when a child forgets to appear punctually for an activity.
