Student Life and Services ECU offers a variety of programs and services designed to assist you during your time here as an international student. First Friends: Be paired with an American student who shares similar interests to help you get acquainted with ECU and Greenville. International Student Association (ISA): Join the ISA to connect with other international students and American students who are interested in learning about their classmates from around the world.

Career Preparation Program: Take part in a series of workshops during your final year of study. The workshops focus on rĂŠsumĂŠ and cover letter development, interviewing skills, strategic job searching, and opportunities for work experience. Optional Practical Training (OPT): At ECU, 19% of graduating students take advantage of opportunities to work in the U.S. through the OPT program. The top three destinations are RaleighDurham, North Carolina; Greenville, North Carolina; and the Washington, D.C., metro area.


Pirate Academic Success Center (PASC): Student Success is the primary goal of the PASC. Take advantage of tutoring in most 1000- and 2000-level courses and select upper-division courses, as well as academic mentoring. Composition I Course for English as a Second Language Learners: Do you want to ensure you are employing the best English grammar and mechanics skills? As an ESL learner, you have access to a Composition I course specifically for students like you. It meets the general education requirement while ensuring success in your writing.

New Student Seminar (COAD 1000): As a new student, you have the option of taking a seminar designed to help you to be successful in your first year at ECU. Topics include interaction with the Career Center, study abroad and personal branding. Off-Campus Student Services: OffCampus Student Services assists you in your search to find safe and affordable off-campus housing. Visit the office online at www.ecu.edu/offcampus.


ECU Language Academy The ECU Language Academy (ECULA) offers an exciting, high-quality program of intensive academic English to help you succeed in university and professional settings. We prepare you for entering a degree program or taking a professional position and give you the language skills you need to succeed.

Our classes are generally 5 to 10 students which guarantees you the personalized attention you need.

Understand American culture through weekly films and experience it through field trips to cities, beaches and beautiful countryside.

Focus on improving your pronunciation with professional clinicians in our Department of Communication Sciences.

Free ESL tutoring is available, and our friendly and supportive faculty is always ready to help.

Apply for conditional admission to your degree program before or during your language study. No TOEFL required with ECULA completion.

ECULA students come from countries on every inhabited continent.

Freshman Students

 Submit International Student Application and $75 application fee. Would you prefer the Common App? Find us there, too!  Submit official high school/secondary school transcripts translated into English. To be considered official, transcripts should be sent from your school or a school representative. See below for methods of sending.  Submit official English proficiency exam score*. TOEFL: 71 IELTS: 6.0 SAT: 450 on the English Reading and Writing section ACT: 19 on the English Comprehension section * Some exceptions apply; please contact us for more details.

Transfer Students

 Submit International Student Application and $75 application fee.  Submit ALL official college transcripts from each institution you have attended prior to ECU.

Intensive English Students

 Submit International Student Application and $75 application fee.  Submit a copy of your highest degree earned. Interested in conditional admission to a bachelor’s or master’s degree program?
