amiat Ulama Maharashtra organized a mammoth program on “Protection of Democracy” at the Azad Maidan ground, Mumbai, recently. A large number of people gathered at the ground to raise voice against communalism, sectarianism, terrorism and victimization of Muslim youth.

addressed this vast gathering and an attempt has been made to popularize the message of India’s multi-religious and multi-cultural ethos.

Maulana Arshad Madani, the president of the Jamiat Ulama-eHind, said that on every critical turn of history, the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind declared that the principle of united nationalism is the only formula for the sovereignty of the nation and advised those in power to adhere to this principle. He said that due

to ignoring the Muslim issues, the Congress lost its real identity and is today begging votes from all.

While criticizing the Congress, he stressed that Sushilkumar Shinde’s pre-election call that no Muslim youth be wrongfully arrested is not likely to make a difference in the forthcoming general election. It is Shivraj Patel who tried to show the world the whole Muslim community as terrorists.

If the administrator’s mind becomes spotless from any kind of sectarianism, then the country will automatically witness peace and harmony, and all we want is only justice and nothing else, the speaker opined while addressing the rally.

Stressing on the reservation for Muslim community, he said that it is one of many rights promised by various political parties. But every party forgets to fulfill its promises and remembers them when it comes to take votes on the occasion of election. After the freedom of the country, the constitution of India have been amended 19 times, and if once more the constitution undergoes an amendment to give Muslims reservation, then it will be a good thing.

It is a historically proven fact that corruption flees away before good governance and effective administration. But today, we people became corrupt at every level. We eat corruption, we drink corruption and we live corruption. Because our government is itself corrupt. It has become our second nature and we take it for granted, Maulana said while addressing the gathering.

While going over the history of the freedom, struggle, he pointed out that Congress was founded in 1885, but the Jamiat Ulama-eHind had commenced the struggle movement to get the country free right from 1803. The real purpose of the Congress was to demolish the misconception of British and Indians.

So major sacrifices by the Muslim community have not been confined to the freedom struggle but even after independence their continually giving sacrifices.
