Maulana Muhammad Khalid Qasmi: MMERC Graduate who Showcases his Wide-Ranging Intellectual Abilities to The Western World

English language and computer savviness. Today this institution Markazul Ma’arif Education and Research Center (MMERC), has gained considerable acceptance in its attempt to bridge the gap between ulama and mainstream Indian ethos.

In a short span of time, a raft of ten institutions of India adopted the DELL (Diploma in English language and literature) course promoted by MMERC, most notably, Darul Uloom Deoband and Aligarh Muslim University, although the latter has given it a different shape.

Beside the exclusivity of this course and sincerity of its founders, in fact, MMERC has won plaudits for the knowledge ability of graduates, as it is said, “A tree is known by its fruits”. It is heartening to note that everywhere, by the grace of Almighty Allah, MMERC alumni are doing their best for the sake of educational, social and cultural upliftment. Therefore, EC has been publishing a regular column on MMERC alumni’s achievements to set benchmarks for new graduates of Madrasas.

Maulana Mohammad Khalid Qasmi is an alumnus of world famous Islamic Jamiyah Darul Uloom Deoband where he got Fazilat (Graduation in Arabic, Hadith, Tafseer, Fiqh, and Islamic studies) in 2000. Later he went on to obtain a Diploma in English Language and Literature at Markazul Ma’arif Education and Research Centre, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India in 2000 – 2001, where he learnt English Grammar, Language and Literature, Spoken English, English-ArabicUrdu Translation, Islamic studies, Dawah Studies, General Studies, Comparative Study of Religions, and Computer Applications (D.T.P, English Arabic Urdu M.S. Office) etc.

As he was among the top ranked students among those who finished the DELL course in 2001, MMERC selected him as a research trainee where he worked on a project entitled Human Rights in Islam— Thesis, Antithesis and Synthesis-during 2002 and 2003.

He began his professional career in teaching from his alma mater, Markazul Ma’arif Education and Research Center (MMERC), in 2003. He rendered his sincere and remarkable services for almost 5 years in MMERC where he worked on a group of ulama to make them ready for modern challenges and, eventually, he notched a noteworthy success in this regard. Many of former students cherish Maulana Khalid’s excellent way of teaching and use some of his methods in their own classrooms.

particular requirements of a writing project. It doesn’t matter whether they’re using a creative approach for a marketing publication or drafting a new chapter for a book. They have an ability to focus on the writing task and create an outline or direction for what they’ll write. Masha-Allah, Maulana Muhammad Khalid Qasmi has proved himself a good writer through his stunning success at writing. This very quality of writing won for him the post of Assistant Editor in your esteemed Magazine Eastern Crescent where he rendered a quality service till 2007.

He was afforded an opportunity to make his presence felt in wider fields of learning and he was selected for a teaching post in the USA and for delivering speeches on Islamic topics in 2008. He is now offering his services as the (Chief) Imam and Khateeb in Al-Farooq Masjid of Atlanta, Georgia, USA and Educator of Islamic sciences and Administrator of Darul Uloom of Atlanta ( A Hifz school under AlFarooq Masjid of Atlanta). Many observers see in Maulana’s work the partial fulfillment of MMERC’s aim of producing top notch English speakers, writers and translators for the wider world.

Maulana is among those graduates of MMERC who have been the ambassadors of Islam by the virtue of their oratorical skills developed in MMERC. He has had the opportunity to address conferences, symposiums and public meetings. Alhamdulillah, Maulana has also the quality of a good debater on social and religious issues and other related topics. He presents his

ideas comfortably and confidently.

He proves that a debater has to be somewhat of an orator as well. His ability to capture the attention of the audience is remarkable. Some of the current activities of Maulana Muhammad Khalid Qasmi’s are as follows: Leading Muslim daily prayers, Leading Taraweeh prayers, Delivering Speeches/Talks, Friday and Eid Sermons, holding seminars/ symposiums on religious and social issues, giving Tafseer of the Glorious Qur’an, holding weekly Halaqaat on Islamic subjects, conducting class sessions under Practical Learning of Islam Program for new Muslim brothers and sisters, conducting Qur’anic Arabic learning classes, conducting classes on Islamic sciences(Alim course), conducting counseling sessions for religious, social and personal issues, and having inter-faith dialogues with fellow citizens etc.

Maulana’s range of activities is remarkable in the sense that it offers a concise Baedekar of the multifarious avenues of work promoted by MMERC. We hope that many other students of MMERC nourish and hone the same wide-ranging sympathies that Maulana has offered to the world.
