nvironmental, Health and Safety Training is an important aspect of your company's all-around training effort. We can help you stay abreast of changes in regulations with our comprehensive, up-to-date training in environmental health, safety and compliance.
About Our Services y A wide variety of environmental health, safety and compliance courses tailored to meet the needs of any industry, including public offerings and customized training. y On-site safety audits with a written or oral report as requested. y Site-specific inspections to identify training needs. y On-site safety training. y Flexible training hours and scheduling so the training you need can be presented when you need it, including evenings and weekends. Training is offered by the Eastern Iowa Community Colleges and its Hazardous Materials Training and Research Institute, housed on Scott Community College’s campus. Established in 1987, The Hazardous Materials Training and Research Institute (HMTRI) promotes worker protection and the maintenance of a clean and safe environment through education and training. HMTRI is recognized as one of a select number of national centers of excellence by several federal agencies including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), and the National Science Foundation (NSF).
About Our Trainers Our OSHA-authorized trainers have more than 50 years of combined experience in the areas of occupational safety and environmental compliance for both construction and general industry. They understand OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations as well as their practical applications in business and industry.
Types of Training Available HAZMAT Workers can refresh their hazardous materials training through the college’s hazmat courses. Topics covered include proper hazardous material handling and cleanup, hazardous waste regulations and more.
MSHA Lower your training costs by utilizing the Iowa State Grant Program partially subsidized by the Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA). Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) will take care of the administrative paperwork, Training Certificates and Training Plans. EICC is the managing organization for the Iowa Department of Labor MSHA Grant Program. We collaborate with community colleges across the state of Iowa to provide Mine Safety, New Miner and annual Refresher training opportunities.
OHSA We offer Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) related courses covering a wide range of topics. The Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 (OSH Act) sets and enforces protective workplace safety and health standards. OSHA also provides information, training and assistance to employers and workers. Under the OSH Act, employers have the responsibility to provide a safe workplace. Course subjects include forklift safety, drug and alcohol awareness, fall protection, HAZWOPER, Construction and General Industry training, and more.
