KentuCky 2022 GUIDE F OR 2021R G ADUATE ST U DEN T S

MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN The opportunity to advance your career with a graduate education is undoubtedly a worthwhile endeavor. At EKU, we continue to build on our more than 100-year history as an institution of higher education. As you investigate which university is right for you to embark upon graduate studies, allow me to identify a few important considerations. First, consider the quality and reputation of the university and its graduate programs. At EKU, teaching excellence is job one and our quality programs start with quality faculty. All graduate faculty are evaluated regularly and must demonstrate expertise in their respective fields, ability to provide quality instruction, and a commitment to scholarship. Additionally, our programs are of the highest quality teaching knowledge, skills, and abilities that are required in today’s job market. As such, our alumni work in successful careers doing the work that they love. Last, it is important to understand that EKU is regionally accredited by the SACS-COC and many of our graduate programs are accredited by their discipline-specific accrediting bodies. Next, is your desired graduate program available at the university? At EKU, we offer over 35 master’s level degree programs from all six of our academic programs. Additionally, we offer four doctoral degrees and a specialist degree from the College of Education and Applied Human Sciences. Finally, we offer over 55 certificates and endorsements to add to your credentials and advance your career. Further, we are proud to offer flexibility and accessibility to our graduate students through a variety of program delivery options. Over half of our graduate programs allow for 100% completion, which enables working professionals to take advantage of the amalgamation of modern technology and quality instruction. Simply stated, this combination allows for quality instruction when it is convenient for our students. The coupling of a proven brick-and-mortar university with an effective online delivery system enables success for our graduates. In addition to fall and spring courses, we offer courses year round with robust winter and summer offerings. In the end, it’s up to the student on whether to fast track the degree progress or take it a bit slower. Either way, our primary goal is our student’s success. Finally, let’s be realistic for a moment and talk value. As a public, regional, comprehensive university, our graduate tuition is competitive with other institutions in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and throughout the United States. In fact, it is considerably less than many programs offered by private and for-profit institutions. I am also happy to announce that we are waiving the graduate school application fee, so you can apply today for free! The pathway to success awaits you at the EKU Graduate School, and we look forward to the opportunity to tell you more.
