Eastern Kentucky University’s Giving Day, also known as #GiveBigE, is an annual 24-hour challenge to increase giving participation among the EKU community. This year’s Giving Day is Wednesday, April 23, and the goal is 2,425 donors! To succeed, we need your help in spreading the word to Eastern’s alumni and friends.
By committing to serving as a Giving Day Ambassador, you will help us change lives. Every gift counts toward the goal of 2,425 donors. Every gift also makes a difference — whether a donor gives to the Eastern Fund, a college fund, Athletics, or any other EKU fund — all gifts have an impact in the lives of Eastern’s students.
Lives will be changed because of you.
KEY DATES
TODAY
• Read through this guide and familiarize yourself with the communication timeline, language, and social media posting guidelines.
• Make sure to follow Eastern Kentucky University and EKU Alumni & Friends on Facebook.
APRIL 16:
• Announce EKU Giving Day! Promote the campaign by sharing the University’s Facebook posts and campaign video on April 16.
• Tag your former EKU classmates, EKU colleagues, and friends to extend your reach even further.
• Email the video to your contacts.
APRIL 22:
• Change your Facebook profile picture and Facebook cover photos by downloading the available images in the Ambassador Toolkit: go.eku.edu/givingday-ambassadors
• Make a post letting your followers know about EKU Giving Day and how they can help.
• Share the official EKU Giving Day event from the EKU Alumni & Friends Facebook page.
APRIL 23:
• Don’t forget to wear your #GiveBigE shirt or any EKU shirt!
• If you are able, make a gift at go.eku.edu/givingday
• Post throughout the day. Share the University’s social media posts. Tag your friends and encourage them to make a gift on EKU Giving Day.
• If you know someone who made a gift, thank them.
APRIL 24:
• Thank your followers for participating. We couldn’t have done it without them!
THINGS TO KNOW about Giving Day
EKU Giving Day will be held on Wednesday, April 23. #GiveBigE is a 24-hour celebration of the EKU spirit of giving back and our collective commitment to the University’s future.
• Donors will be able to support one or several areas of the University including: the Eastern Fund, EKU BookSmart, University General Scholarship Fund, College greatest needs funds, Athletics, and more!
• EKU has set a goal of 2,425 gifts for Giving Day 2025, representing the 2024-25 academic year and all the students who are working toward their dreams right now at EKU.
• The EKU social media accounts will be posting updates throughout the day on Wednesday, April 23, and preliminary results will be shared on Thursday, April 24.

Join other ambassadors and supporters to promote EKU Giving Day by using and following the hashtag #GiveBigE. Also, follow and share content from the official Giving Day platforms on Facebook.

UPDATE YOUR SOCIAL PROFILES
Download the free Facebook cover and profile images from the visual toolbox (go.eku.edu/givingday-ambassadors) and update your accounts to show your school pride.
CHOOSE YOUR FAVORITE FUND
Do you have a favorite EKU fund you’d like to promote to your friends, family, and colleagues? Email us at giving@eku.edu and we will provide you with a special link directly to your fund’s giving page.
PROMOTE THE EVENT
Let your networks know you’ll be participating by sharing the event on your social media platforms. Promoting the event raises awareness for your personal contacts who also have a connection with EKU.

FAQs
DO I HAVE TO BE LOCAL TO RICHMOND TO BE AN AMBASSADOR?
No way! We welcome any member of our Colonel community to serve as an Ambassador. Whether you are near or far, your efforts will help us reach 2,425 donors on April 23.
WHERE SHOULD I POST?
Post on your personal social media accounts and on any EKU pages or groups to which you belong. EKU and EKU Alumni & Friends will be sharing messages on Facebook.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I POST?
That’s up to you. Start by posting at least once on the three key dates: April 16, April 22, and April 23. We recommend posting one to three times before EKU Giving Day to promote the event and at least three times on Giving Day.
WHAT IF I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO POST?
When in doubt, go to EKU Alumni & Friends (Facebook) social media account and share content. Add your own comment or just share the post to help the University spread the word.
WHEN SHOULD I USE THE #GIVEBIGE HASHTAG?
In every post! Hashtags work on nearly every platform. You can use the hashtag as part of your post (i.e., Excited for #GiveBigE!) or add it to the end (i.e., Excited for EKU Giving Day! #GiveBigE).
ARE THERE ANY IN-PERSON ACTIVITIES FOR ME ON GIVING DAY?
Yes! If you are local or will be in town, you are invited to register for Giving Day! Trivia Night or attend our I EKU Party. Visit go.eku.edu/givingday to learn more.
