Visit fafsa.ed.gov to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. EKU’s federal school code is 001963. The FAFSA becomes available October 1. Complete it early, as awards are made until funds are depleted. Types of financial aid include the following: • Grants are awarded based almost exclusively on financial need and typically do not have to be repaid. • Loans are also available to assist with educational expenses, but they must be repaid. • Federal Work-Study provides part-time employment to students; eligibility is dependent on financial need and availability of funds. • Institutional Employment allows any full-time undergraduate or graduate student who is not eligible for Federal Work-Study to work part time in the institutional employment program.

TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIPS FOR IN-STATE STUDENTS • Available to first-time, in-state and on-campus transfer students with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA, who have completed a minimum of 24 hours of courses after high school graduation. • Students must be enrolled full time, be working on their first bachelor’s degree and maintain a 3.0 GPA. • Awards range from $500 to $2,000 per semester based on GPA. • Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

REDUCED TUITION FOR OUT-OF-STATE STUDENTS At $10,500 per year, EKU’s out-of-state tuition rate is comparable or more affordable than many schools’ in-state rates. International transfer students who transfer to EKU from another college or university in the United States are also eligible for the reduced out-of-state tuition rate.

CREDITS GENERAL EDUCATION CERTIFICATION FROM KENTUCKY PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS

EKU is one of the eight public higher learning institutions that participate in the Kentucky General Education Transfer Agreement. Students who transfer a completed Associate of Art, Science, or General Studies degree from one of these institutions (such as KCTCS) will have their EKU general education requirements satisfied. This agreement also allows for the full or partial completion of EKU general education requirements by transferring “full” or “category” general education certifications from participating schools. • Full certifications are awarded when the transfer students have met all of their general education requirements at their sending institution. • Category certifications are awarded when transfer students complete specific sets of general education requirements. Completing a category at the sending institution will satisfy the corresponding category at EKU. Students transferring general education courses from outof-state or private Kentucky schools will have their credit reviewed for EKU general education eligibility, though more documentation may be required.

EKU DEGREE AUDIT REPORT • Admitted students can find more information about how their credits transferred by logging into EKU Direct at online.eku.edu. This information is found in the EKU DegreeWorks audit. Select “Student Records” then “EKU DegreeWorks” to check the progress of your transfer course evaluations.
