Eastern Kentucky University has picked your county to take part in a game-changing program, called PELL Plus. It’s all about giving students the financial support they need to attend EKU. Here’s the best part: If you qualify and you’re not from Kentucky, you can attend EKU and pay the in-state tuition rate. Plus, you can also get in on EKU’s merit scholarships.
HOW TO QUALIFY • GRADUATE from a high school within a PELL Plus eligible county. • BE ELIGIBLE for federal Pell grant assistance as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Federal Pell Grants help students with exceptional financial need earn a degree. It typically does not have to be repaid.

MORE SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES As a PELL Plus student, you can apply for other EKU scholarships, like foundation scholarships, to further reduce your costs. Keep in mind, the total awards can’t exceed your expenses, and the Colonel Commitment Scholarship doesn’t apply to PELL Plus students.

PELL PLUS PROGRAM Take the next step to becoming an EKU Colonel. Here’s how: 1. Apply for admissions to EKU at apply.eku.edu. The application is free! 2. Fill out the FAFSA to determine your eligibility. 3. You’ll be designated as PELL Plus if you meet the requirements, and EKU’s Admissions Office will notify you. 4. To keep your PELL Plus benefits and scholarships, just stay enrolled full-time at EKU and aim to finish your degree in 4 years (or 8 semesters). Easy!
