Eastleigh Borough Council’s SportWorks team are delighted to bring you the New Year, New You programme, offering a wide range of subsidised 6-10 week sports and physical activity courses to help make regular weekly exercise part of your 2016 routine. All courses are tailored for beginners and all starting levels of fitness, so there has never been a better time to activate your new year’s resolution! Participants must be 16 years old or over to participate. 2

Beginners Running This friendly introduction to running is delivered by qualified coaches at Hedge End Running Club, taking you through the basic technical elements of running and gradually developing your fitness, speed and distance. Swim, Gym and Exercise classes Local leisure facilities offer the opportunity to swim, use the gym and access a wide variety of exercise classes to meet different fitness levels and needs. The social environment makes them fun and motivating ways to exercise. Walking Stay active by enjoying a brisk walk in your local area or country park, or join a local Healthwalk. Running & Cycling
Running and cycling are a great way to exercise for free, straight from your front door and at a time which fits into your busy schedule. Why not run or cycle to work to get your daily exercise, reduce your transport costs and your carbon footprint? Alternatively you could go along to a local parkrun on Saturday mornings. HealthWorks Exercise Referral Scheme HealthWorks is a 12 week Physical Activity Referral Scheme to provide opportunities for people to improve their health and become more active. If you are aged 16 and over, are sedentary, at risk of coronary heart disease (high blood pressure, diabetes, overweight) or have a medical condition that would benefit from physical activity (cancer, cardiac, pulmonary, mental health, neurological, post op) then ask your GP/Nurse/Physio to refer you or you can self-refer onto the scheme. Activities available include gym sessions, deep water aquatherapy, falls prevention classes, low level circuits, swimming and Healthwalks.
