1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the overseers and deacons: 2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. 6 And I am sure of this, that he who began ha good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. 7 It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you kin my heart, for you are all lpartakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. 8 For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. 9 And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. The Advance of the Gospel 12 I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, 13 so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ. 14 And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. 15 Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. 16 The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17 The former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice. To Live Is Christ Yes, and I will rejoice, 19 for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance, 20 as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. 23 I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. 24 But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account. 25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith, 26 so that in me you may have ample cause to glory in Christ Jesus, because of my coming to you again. 27 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, 28 and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God. 29 For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake, 30 engaged in the same conflict that you saw I had and now hear that I still have. Christ’s Example of Humility 2 So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, 2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. 3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Lights in the World 12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for hit is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. 14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing, 15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine pas lights in the world, 16 holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. 17 Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. 18 Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me. Timothy and Epaphroditus 19 I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, so that I too may be cheered by news of you. 20 For I have no one like him, who will be genuinely concerned for your welfare. 21 For they all seek their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. 22 But you know Timothy’s proven worth, how as a son with a father be has served with me in the gospel. 23 I hope therefore to send him just as soon as I see how it will go with me, 24 and I trust in the Lord that shortly I myself will come also. 25 I have thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier, and your messenger and minister to my need, 26 for he has been longing for you all and has been distressed because you heard that he was ill. 27 Indeed he was ill, near to death. But God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. 28 I am the more eager to send him, therefore, that you may rejoice at seeing him again, and that I may be less anxious. 29 So receive him in the Lord with all joy, and honor such men, 30 for he nearly died for the work of Christ, risking his life to complete what was lacking in your service to me. Righteousness Through Faith in Christ 3 Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you is no trouble to me and is safe for you. 2 Look out for the dogs, look out for the evildoers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh. 3 For owe are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh— 4 though I myself have reason for confidence in the flesh also. If anyone else thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5 circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; 6 as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law, blameless. 7 But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8 Indeed,

Win! On our staff we use a phrase to help our effectiveness in ministry. It’s “define the win.” In every ministry we define what a win looks like so that we are more intentional in our ministry. For example, we believe Jesus has told us to disciple people. We know from research that people grow best in Christ in relationship with other Christians interacting with the Word. So a win in the area of discipleship is an increasing percentage of our people participating in small groups, Sunday school or having a spiritual director. Let me share with you some wins: • Visitors are saying our worship services are friendlier. Win! • We have a ministry to widows that increases our care for them. Win! • More people are in small groups or have a spiritual director. Win! • More people went on a short-term mission trip. Win! • We trained 60 people in evangelism. Win! • More than 2,000 from the city attended Trunk or Treat on our campus. Win! More than 80 people from outside our church have signed up for Parenting the Love and Logic Way with 60 more on a waiting list. Win! • We increased our giving to missions $106,000 and have in place a mission structure that will increase congregational involvement. Win! Future wins we are pursuing are: How many are coming to Christ through our ministry? How many are being discipled? How many are using their gifts to serve the kingdom? How many are sharing or demonstrating the gospel in the city or far away? How many of our kids are coming to Christ and staying connected to our church? How many intergenerational opportunities are we creating? How many neighborhoods are we transforming? How many of our people are doing meaningful mission throughout our targeted regions in the world?

2

We have had many wins to celebrate this past year. We are looking forward to reporting more. These are things we believe Christ has called us to do. If we abide in him, he in us will bear much fruit.

Pastor Stan

PRAYER council MEMBERS

JOAN BENDER LEAD ELDER VISION It is the goal of the Prayer Council to encourage and support a consistent and intentional emphasis on prayer for all our ministries and events at Eastminster. We believe that prayer should not be a separate concept for one Council, but rather an integral part of all we do in our church. Prayer not only equips and empowers us to glorify God, follow Jesus and transform lives in the places we are called to serve, but the very process of prayer in the life of our church is glorifying God, following Jesus and transforming lives. Our focus as the Prayer Council is on lifting up the blessing and importance of prayer in an integrated way, and being supportive of Eastminster Church as a house of prayer.

SUMMARY BY DON LEAR Discipleship Council has had a good, yet challenging year. Session passed oversight of both Men’s Ministries and Marriage Ministries from Congregational Life Council to Discipleship Council. As a result, Discipleship Council is in the process of forming a Marriage Ministries Team that will be tasked with developing and implementing a revamped ministry geared toward married couples. Last fall, on Wednesday nights, Discipleship Council offered a class titled “Parenting the Love and Logic Way.” Because of the positive response, the Council decided to offer the course again this fall and publicize it to the community at large as an outreach event in cooperation with Local and US Mission Council. As a result, 80 participants have signed up for the course, many of whom do not attend Eastminster.

(continued)

On January 23-24, Eastminster hosted the third annual “Preserving Bible Times” with 400 people in attendance. On February 15, Discipleship Council launched a small group initiative following Pastor Stan’s message “Following Jesus.” Utilizing the Connect Card on that Sunday and on the following three Sundays, the Council sought information from attending congregants regarding small group participation. Since then, the Council has formed a Small Groups Team, tasked with the goal of placing all individuals and couples who desire a small group experience into either an existing small group or a newly formed small group. This spring, Discipleship Council provided all Eastminster members with access to a service provided by RightNow Media, which streams tens of thousands of Christian videos, studies, conferences and children’s shows. This will facilitate small group studies by allowing content to be displayed on a TV screen, either at church or at home. This was also the 20th anniversary year for the preschool, and a reception was held for the wonderful women who taught the children so faithfully. While our hearts are heavy that the preschool will not continue in 12 the fall, we wish to honor and celebrate these women who touched so many little hearts with the love of Christ. There are many opportunities for those who would like to get involved. We would encourage you to start by participating in the different ministries that are available. Your attendance at one of the Wednesday evening classes or in an adult class on Sunday morning is encouraged. The strength of the ministry of any church is demonstrated by how we reach the individual heart. Consider how God would have you be involved, both as a leader and a learner. SOME WAYS YOU CAN GET INVOLVED • Volunteer in Children’s Ministries • Contact Mary Stephens • Volunteer in Middle School Ministries • Contact Mike Jaderston • Volunteer in High School Ministries • Contact Matt Jaderston • Join a Sunday school class or small group • Contact Ben Marquez or Don Lear • Volunteer to help with Wednesday evening events Contact Bonnie Dakan or Ben Marquez • Join or start a small group - Contact Ben Marquez or Don Lear

14 Congregational Life exists for the purpose of bringing all members of our Eastminster family together - to serve each other, to serve others, and to grow in their relationships with God - and with each other in a true intergenerational fellowship. This has been an exciting year for us, as we grew in numbers of volunteers who delight in serving others in our church and our presbytery. Our teams increased by spreading the word to new and current members alike of the joy in service. Care and Support Team/Board of Deacons Under the guidance of Deacon Moderator Jeremy Rausch, Vice Moderator Lori Miller and the help of their Elder Liaison Dianne Crawford, the 36 deacons have established five teams to provide a ministry of compassion to the Eastminster congregation, serving the sick (homebound and in hospital), care for the bereaved, care for members away from home, and member concerns care. Visits to the homebound are made monthly, flowers from our Sunday services are arranged and distributed, communion is being served and transportation to doctor appointments have been arranged. Currently, 22-27 homebound members are being ministered to.

Hospital visits by deacons and team members are made to all members who indicate Eastminster as their home church. This year, 553 visits were made to 57 Eastminster member families in a hospital. Prayer is offered, notes of encouragement sent, and assistance offered for needed meals, transportation and help around their homes. Bereavement Team has provided assistance at the funerals of Eastminster members and support to the families by prayer, cards and phone calls in the months after their loss. The Care Away From Home Team sent care packages (cookies in the fall and toys in spring) along with notes of encouragement to Eastminster college-age kids. Encouragement notes were sent to deployed service members whose families provided addresses. Membership Concerns Care Team has concentrated on helping members in need. This can include mowing lawns, helping with home repairs, helping with packing for a household move, putting up Christmas lights, giving encouragement and support in a job search and connecting with small groups or other church members who will provide necessary care. Several meal trains have been coordinated and resource lists compiled.

15

congregational life council The Care and Support Team/Board of Deacons will be moving in November 2015 to their own Council. Their charter has been approved by session and they will remain connected to session by their Elder Liaison, Dianne Crawford. All-Church Events Team Chili Christmas was a rousing success, 550-600 members and guests served and enjoyed fellowship. Chili was donated by Jeanne Livingston Shaft and is always a treat. Volunteers from all Councils were recruited to serve their Eastminster family. Great Plains Presbytery meeting was held at Eastminster on January 30-31, 2015, and the All-Church Events Team recruited volunteers and served all meals prepared by Eastminster Chef Loren Minnis. Many new Eastminster members volunteered and enjoyed meeting others and getting involved in the life of our church. In March, a reception was planned and dinner was served for the installation by the Great Plains Presbytery of our new Associate Pastor of Mission, Mike Goolsby. In May, a reception honoring all military members, past and present, was held on Military Appreciation Day. July 5 was our All-Church Picnic and we served more than 500 members and guests with Nathan’s hotdogs, desserts and sides prepared by our members. Disc golf, inflatables and games were available for the young ones outside. A classic car show was also featured - with Eastminster members providing the cars. EDGE/Wednesday Equipping Night Team Each Wednesday night, September through May, dinner and fellowship are enjoyed before our congregation heads to equipping Bible classes. Our Volunteer Team, along with Chef Loren Minnis and Volunteer Coordinator Deb Hilscher, is a small group in itself - ranging in age from 14-91. This is intergenerational fellowship at it’s best. We serve 130-180 people each week and make sure each child has at least one green vegetable on their plates! Working with Discipleship Council, our class offerings were outstanding and we hope to use these classes as a mission outreach to Wichita in the coming year. Senior Ministries Team Monthly luncheons were sponsored by our Senior Team and open to all. Topics included: Congressman Mike Pompeo, Orphan Train (1853-1929), Dramatic Truth Ministeries, and Air Force Chaplain Wesley Sneed from McConnell AFB. The Seniors Christmas Dinner at Crestview with the Ring Theory Barbershop Quartet had 63 in attendance. A true highlight of the year is always

the Seniors with Senior High brunch held in January in the Student Center. This May the seniors sponsored a bus trip to Westminster Woods to explore the retreat center and it was a great success. Women’s Ministry Team Each month the six circles meet for fellowship and Bible study: Piece Sewers, Martha-Priscilla, Rebecca-Ruth, Abigail and Hannah. Circles are involved in raising funds for their designated missions, outreach to new members of the church and the Wichita community, and support, prayer and concern for each other. Book Club meets each month to discuss a selected book and is open to all women. Bible studies are coordinated by Sandee Francel. Six studies were offered last summer and attended by more than 100 women. Fourteen studies were offered in the fall and winter with 180 women in attendance. A Women’s Christmas Tea was held for all Eastminster women with 104 ladies in attendance and $315 collected for Bibles to be purchased for YoungLives mission. Our speaker was from YoungLives and the Collegiate Girls 16 Choir entertained us with Christmas carols. No Women’s Retreat was scheduled for 2014-2015 as we attended, as a group, the Beth Moore Live event at Intrust Arena on September 12, 2015. Marriage Ministries, previously under Congregational Life, was transferred to Discipleship Council during this year. Congregational Life Council is just what it sounds like we are the body of Christ at Eastminster and we are here to serve and to give glory to God through our service. Our volunteers are many and we pray that more people will join us to serve others - to create a true Eastminster family and to create fellowship opportunities for that family to come together - all ages - all generations - to love and serve God - and to love and serve others in his name.

KEDRE MELLOR LEAD ELDER PURPOSE To encourage, recruit, equip, and empower the members of Eastminster to actively engage in Holy Spirit-led outreach opportunities. In fulfillment of the calling in which God invites his church to participate, we will share the gospel and our resources while demonstrating Christ’s love, compassion and mercy with those outside the congregation of Eastminster particularly in Wichita. To participate with local churches and outreach partners to work toward the redemption of Wichita which includes bringing people to a saving faith in Jesus Christ. TEAMS SUPPORTING THE COUNCIL • Relief Team • Urban Outreach Team • Train, Equip, Send Team • Youth & Student Outreach Team The Community Outreach Council (formerly Local and U.S. Mission Council) was established in 2013 to encourage, recruit, equip and empower members of Eastminster to actively engage in Holy Spirit-led outreach opportunities. We are continuing the rich heritage of coming alongside trusted outreach partners to fulfill Christ’s call to make disciples of all nations in Matthew 28 and to follow John’s admonition to not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. Along with our trusted outreach partners and more than $280,000 of funding are overseen by our four teams and other Council members. Our Council continued the tradition of Second Sundays by hosting visits from three of our outreach partners during FY 2014-15. A special event was added in May 2015 in response to the interest expressed by 151 of our members in getting involved with our Outreach Council partners following the Mission Experience Sunday. The Local Mission Fair brought 11 outreach partners to our Fellowship Hall to meet our members and explain volunteer opportunities available with their ministries. The Relief Team and the Train, Equip, Send Team were also in attendance to enlist our membership in direct service and outreach training. We plan to make this an annual event!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM OUR TEAMS Relief The Relief team of the Outreach Council was created to provide hands-on assistance in the name of Jesus Christ to poor, sick, aged and disadvantaged people with physical assistance needs. We want people to experience Christ’s love through our service. This team is also available periodically to assist our local outreach partners with projects. The Thanksgiving and Christmas food box preparation and delivery events, overseen by the Relief Team, had more than 180 volunteers provide boxes of food to 307 local families in 2014. Another big event overseen by the Relief Team is LOVE Wichita. There were 148 volunteers from Eastminster who signed up to serve our outreach partners and our city in April 2015 through seven projects. If you have some skills and/or a heart to serve our community and want to be involved in the Relief Team, contact Tommy Phelps at tlphelps@foleyeq.com.

Urban Outreach The Urban Outreach team is committed to investing time, talent and financial resources into the heart of Wichita while sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. This team focuses on human needs and suffering while sharing the hope we have in salvation through Christ alone. Eastminster members are involved in many of these ministries including World Impact, Union Rescue Mission, HopeNet, Serenity Seekers, New Jerusalem Missions (Newton), Choices Medical Clinic and the Pregnancy Crisis Center (PCC). Eastminster participated again in PCC’s “Change for Life” fundraiser between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Our Missions and Evangelism Coordinator, Marcia Davis, provides an important service to an urban outreach partner who is very close to Eastminster. Each week, Marcia produces 200 bulletins for the weekly service at Nueva Jerusalén, a Spanishlanguage church pastored by Azarel and Jacob Molina. Our support of Hope Ranch beginning this past year has allowed us to join in the efforts against human trafficking. Eastminster also provides emergency financial help to those in need through the Christian Concerns committee. If you are interested in the Urban Outreach Team, contact Brian Eggenberger at beggenberger16@gmail.com. 19

local & us mission council Train, Equip, Send The Train, Equip, Send team was formed to provide opportunities for the body of Christ at Eastminster and beyond to be trained and equipped to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and make disciples. It also cares for our outreach partners that are heavily engaged in training others to do the same, specifically two prison ministries with Eastminster members involved (Central Kansas and Kairos), M.A.N.A., Perspectives, and Navigators. The Train, Equip, Send team developed and hosted two gospel “trunks” for Trunk or Treat, “Fishers of Men,” and “Empty Tomb (he has risen!), and presented Billy Graham’s “Heaven” evangelism DVD in the Fall. This summer, Train, Equip, Send introduced Eastminster members to “Just Walk Across the Room” evangelism training. This curriculum as well as “Becoming a Contagious Christian” are available for Eastminster small groups. A new initiative to reach those who have not yet placed their faith in Jesus or who have fallen away from their faith will be introduced this fall - The Alpha Course will be previewed on Wednesday nights. If you are interested in the Train, Equip, Send Team, contact Dennis Train at dengine1@cox.net. Youth and Student Outreach Many of Eastminster’s outreach partners are doing tremendous work sharing Christ with youth in Wichita

and throughout Kansas. The Youth and Student Outreach Team has come alongside these partners and is working to help Eastminster invest our time, talent and financial resources toward sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and making disciples of youth and students beyond our walls. The team has kept in close touch with outreach partners over the past year, learning about their needs and praying for their ministries. Many of these partners have Eastminster members involved such as Young Life, International Students, Inc. (ISI), Campus Kids Ministry, Campus Ministry Network, Youth Horizons and Westminster Woods to name a few. The team plans to serve with some of our outreach partners during the upcoming year. The Youth and Student Team has recently added new outreach partners on the WSU campus through Navigators and ISI. If you are interested in the Youth and Student Outreach Team, contact Ann Ramseyer at ann.ramseyer@gmail.com. Finally, our Council has been blessed to have tremendous staff support this year from both Pastor Hank Lederle and Pastor Mike Goolsby in addition to Marcia Davis. We are grateful for the time, energy and care they provided to our Council. The Outreach Council looks forward to this next year as we continue to listen for and engage in Holy Spirit-led outreach opportunities, and we pray for God “to send out workers into his harvest field.” 20

world mission council MEMBERS

JANE YOURDON LEAD ELDER PURPOSE To make disciples throughout the world by educating, equipping and mobilizing the congregation to have a personal role in sharing God’s love and spreading the gospel to all nations by encouraging, praying for and supporting mission partners; serving as short-term and long-term missionaries; participation in international student ministries; and participation in special mission projects to provide assistance and relief anywhere in the world in the name of Jesus Christ. Last year we felt called by God to re-evaluate our World Mission structure and our team charter within the World Mission Council. We felt a strong desire to have more congregational involvement in mission offering our congregation more opportunities to have relationships with our missionaries on a more personal level and to go on short-term mission trips. We formed a transition

team to re-organize our council into a regional model in October 2014. In February God brought Pastor Mike Goolsby to us as our Associate Pastor of Mission. He has been a valuable asset to our council as we have maintained our old model and at the same time worked on a restructuring that was implemented in the fall of 2015. We are committed to supporting those who share the gospel around the world. Our passion has been to partner with those who serve, to pray for them, to provide funds, and to know them personally so that we may share in their needs and rejoice in being part of God’s mission.

world mission Council TEAMS SUPPORTING THE COUNCIL • Joint Mission Team • Mission Events and Awareness Team • Missionary Care Team • Operations and Administration Team • Short-Term Mission Team MISSION EMPHASIS We continue to support those who are called from this congregation to serve as missionaries: The Sulas in Tirana, Albania; The Carters in Equatorial Guinea, Africa; The Gulicks in Argentina; The Edwards with Young Life International, living in Wichita; The Boyles with Young Life International, living in Wichita. This year Spencer Bauer will mobilize missionaries with The Traveling Team for the next three years. We continue to place a strong emphasis on the people groups in the 10/40 window with a special interest on ministry to Muslims. We partnered with successful ministries training national leaders through leadership training and seminaries in the Middle East, Africa, India, China and South America. Kasr El Dobara Church and the Center for Middle Eastern crisis. The annual Kasr El Dobara conference in the U.S. allowed Pastor Stan and his wife Nancy along with elder, Christianity in Cairo, Egypt, and Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology in Kenya are exemplary examples of such ministry. We support agencies that spread the gospel through media and publishing such as TWR, SAT-7, Biblica, Literacy and Evangelism International, and Far East Broadcasting. We partnered with physicians who have received their professional training in Wichita and are now going out to serve: Drs. Zach and Jen O’Connor, surgeons in Gabon, Africa; Drs. Dean and Dianna Kubacz, family practice physicians in Chad, Africa, and Dr. Alexis Carmer in Nigeria. Short-term mission trips help people gain an understanding of God’s heart for all peoples. Teams have gone to Nicaragua, Indonesia, Macedonia, and Minnesota. Our mission vision which Pastor Stan stated in April at the Mission Experience is for every member to have the opportunity “to go.” With our new regional model, opportunities “to go” will be more available. We had the privilege of coming along side one of our own, Dr. Myriam Hughes, as she went to Liberia for two months at the end of 2014 to help with the Ebola

Jane Yourdon to hear how the Church in Egypt is moving. The Vision 5:9 conference attended by Pastor Mike and elder Jane Yourdon helped them learn about networking to plant churches among the unengaged and unreached. We continue to have a contingency plan for missionary care, disaster relief, world hunger and funds set aside to allow rapid response for urgent needs or new opportunities throughout the year. SPECIAL EVENTS Rev. Phil Linton, Director of World Outreach for the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC), and Rev. Efrem Smith, President and CEO of World Impact, brought their messages from the pulpit. SPECIAL OFFERINGS The people of Eastminster contributed to special offerings during the year: our Christmas Eve offering provided for Ebola relief in Liberia through SIM. The World Mission share of the Holy Week offering went to Frontiers for Syrian and Iraqi refugee relief along the Jordan River in Northern Africa.

AN ITEM FOR PRAISE We have much to be thankful for, and we ask your continued prayer for one thing in particular that we believe will have a significant impact on the advancement of God’s Kingdom. Because of Eastminster’s generous gift, World Impact/The Urban Ministry Institute (TUMI), has begun translating their Capstone curriculum into Arabic. This is a 16-module biblically-sound training for church leaders who will serve in newly planted churches throughout the Arabic speaking world. With Eastminster’s help, World Impact/TUMI has also been translating these materials into Romanian. MISSION SECOND SUNDAYS Second Sundays provide direct contact with a supported mission partner. Those mission partners were introduced during worship services, visited children’s Sunday school classes, adult classes, and shared the story of their ministry at a luncheon in Fellowship Hall. This last year those included: The Carter’s on home furlough; Gregor Menga, a missionary in Albania wanting to plant a church in Macedonia; Ryan and Kelly Shane, EPC serving in Lebanon; Bob and Tacey Hopper, EPC seeking to go to Russia; Zach and Jen O’Connor, doctors in Gabon; Shawn Stewart, EPC; Dr. Caleb Kim, professor at NEGST in Kenya; Dr. Josephine Sesi, Makobe Children’s Home in Kenya; Von Golder, with Frontiers in Albania; and Rev. Efrem Smith, Director of World Impact.

congregation where all congregants will have the desire to reach out to their neighbor, their city or even to the ends of the earth. A lot of elements are coming together. The World Mission Council has been and will continue to be in prayer seeking the mind of Christ for his vision for Eastminster. Please continue to pray with and for us.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE We are excited about the future. We are blessed to be in a denomination that is totally committed to the historical understanding and obedience to the Scriptures, a passion for the gospel and the zeal to share the good news of the gospel with those in darkness. Globally the EPC has have an initiative called Engage 2025, where they encourage several churches within a single presbytery to commit to take responsibility to see that a sustainable, reproducing church is planted among an unreached people group by the year 2025. The Great Plains Presbytery has to plant a church among the Albanian speaking Macedonians. Eastminster was part of a research and fact-finding STM trip this past spring. Susan and Don Lear, Pastor Mike and elder Jane Yourdon had the privilege of being on this trip. Pastor has a desire to create a culture of mission within the

TOM DAVIS LEAD ELDER COUNCIL PURPOSE: Membership Development leads people on a path from first-time guest into active membership in the Eastminster family. It works to continually encourage and involve both new and current members in opportunities to give themselves away in service to the Lord. The Membership Development Council hopes to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. “Each One Reach One” and the “Five-Minute Rule” are encouraging slogans that remind us to be aware of people in our midst whom we don’t know and to reach out to them in the spirit of fellowship. (Scriptural basis: Ephesians 4:11-13; Hebrews 13:1-2; Romans 12:4-13) TEAMS SUPPORTING THE COUNCIL First Impressions led by Larry Leatherman Newcomer led by Lori Miller Connections led by Sandee Francel

Todd Mestepey Elder Tom Davis Lead Elder Sandee Francel Larry Leatherman Lori Miller Warren Snyder Staff SUMMARY First Impressions Team The First Impressions Team is made up of 75 ushers, greeters and welcome desk attendants who faithfully serve during the three worship services on Sunday morning and, when called upon, serve during other special church events. This group of dedicated ushers and greeters do a wonderful job of being a warm and friendly face as members and guests come to worship. Newcomer Team The Newcomer Team is responsible to help new people become connected and serve in the life of the church. All people who attend our worship services are asked to fill out a Connect Card which is a tear-out in the Sunday morning bulletin and to put it in the offering plate.

25

MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT council These cards are used to track attendance, gain contact information and receive prayer requests from the congregation. Follow-up with each first-time guest occurs by taking a gift to their home the following week which allows for personal interaction. After the gift is taken to their home, the next step is to invite them to a “Discover Eastminster” luncheon. These luncheons are held several times per year. With Pastor Stan and Warren Snyder presiding, these luncheons are designed to give guests a brief look at Eastminster Church and give them the opportunity to meet some other guests and current members. At this luncheon, guests are invited to the next connection point, the Membership Class.

(continued)

The Connections Team follows up on the new members and helps them become connected in the life of the church through small groups, through serving in the church or through reaching out into the community with ministry opportunities. Newcomer Retention This past year 217 new people signed a Connect Card. Of those, 44, or about 20%, are attending regularly and are involved in the life and ministries of the church. Ultimately, we are not just about statistics. We concern ourselves with each individual who comes in our door. Eastminster Church is reaching out and warmly receiving individuals and families.

Connections Team The Connections Team has expanded the New Members Class into two sections. The first section is taught by Pastor Stan explaining the mission of Eastminster Church, Presbyterian history, theology and polity. The second section is the class on spiritual gifts, called “Uniquely You.” These classes are offered three times a year.

Here is a quote by a young mother whose family loves it here:

Our closest family lives hours away. My husband and I had been praying for a church we could call home. In addition to all the activities we are involved in, we love Wednesday nights because of the love and attention the Eastminster family shows our children. We finally found the family I had been praying for.

3 For owe are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and in Christ Jesus and put 67206 no confidence in the flesh— 4 though I myself have 1958glory N. Webb Road • Wichita, Kansas p 316.634.0337 316.634.1496 www.eastminster.org reason for confidence in the flesh also. If anyone else thinksfhe has reason• for confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5 circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; 6 as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law, blameless. 7 But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8 Indeed,

GLORIFY GOD. FOLLOW CHRIST. TRANSFORM LIVES.
