Bobby Zeik My style stems from a street art background while also implementing many fine art techniques and methods used in more traditional art. I am constantly experimenting with new mediums and processes that keep my work both original and also exciting for myself. The ideas that are most appealing to me are the ones I havenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t seen done before, and the pieces that Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve done that I am most fond of are the ones that were made with the most uncertainty. There is no comfort-zone when it comes to painting for me, and i feel that helps keep my work fresh.

Sona has no memories of her true parents. As an infant, she was found abandoned on the doorstep of an Ionian adoption house, nestled atop an ancient instrument in an exquisite case of unknown origins. She was an unusually well-behaved child, always quiet and content. Her caretakers were sure she would find a home quickly, but it soon became apparent that what they mistook for uncommon geniality was actually an inability to speak or to produce any sound whatsoever. Sona remained at the adoption house until her teens, watching in hopeless silence as prospective adopters passed her by.

During this time, the caretakers sold her unusual instrument to anxious collectors, hoping to build her a trust. For a myriad of bizarre and

unexpected reasons, however, it would be returned, or simply appear again outside the house. When a wealthy Demacian woman named Lestara Buvelle learned of the instrument, she immediately embarked to Ionia. When the caretakers showcased the instrument for her, she rose

wordlessly and explored the house, stopping outside Sona’s room. Without hesitation, Lestara adopted her and left a generous donation for the instrument. With Lestara’s guidance, Sona discovered a deep connection with the instrument which Lestara called an ‘etwahl’. In her hands, it played tones which stilled or quivered the hearts of those around her. Within months, she was headlining with the mysterious etwahl for sold-out audiences. She played as though plucking heartstrings, effortlessly manipulating the emotions of her listeners - all without a single written note. In secret, she discovered a potent and deadly use for her etwahl, using its vibrations to slice objects from a distance. She honed this discipline in private, mastering her gift. When she felt prepared, she went to the only place which could offer her a fitting recital: the League of Legends.

...the feline who turned into music Brigitte Stolk has always been a dreamer ever since she was a child, and realized at an early age that music would play an important part in her life. Spending her spare time writing songs, composing melodies and singing either at home or at school. There was always music in the household. Any genre was welcome, from hard Rock to Zouk music, Funk and Soul music to Pop. Her musical influences are loud and clear; Michael Jackson and Madonna as well as many others including; Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, Prince, Aretha Franklin, Cyndi Lauper, Peter Gabriel, U2, Nayanka Bell, Kassav, Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan. She was born in Burundi, but the family moved to the

Netherlands. There she studied languages but it was becoming very clear that she couldn’t stay away from the music scene. Once she got her Diploma in translation (ISTI , Brussels), she immersed herself into the music world and decided to study Jazz music (which she did at the jazz studio of Antwerp). She has been in a number of gospel choirs, was the female vocalist for Hip Hop bands in Belgium, The Netherlands, and France but also performed as a solo artist in the country’s trendiest clubs, festivals, radio and television shows. In 2002, her first single “I’m sorry” was released, under the moniker “SWEET B”. She followed this with a full-length album release “Solid’air (2004), and singles “Cum 2 mee” (2006)

and “IT’S XMAS” (2008). In 2009, “Cum 2 mee” was chosen as the original soundtrack by French film producer Alain Zirah for his series “The Kat Ladies”. Brigitte is a multi-facetted artist, who’s been compared to Aalyiah, Tamia and Janet Jackson. She’s been described in a French national newspaper as “the feline who turned into music” (Patricia Maille-Caire). Brigitte has that inner sweetness to her voice. A voice that conveys deep emotions and moves people’s hearts. I travel to NYC, Chicago, and Detroit to work jobs and play shows all throughout the year. this allows me to see different art and music scenes in each of these towns; how they operate, how they thrive. Ringo plays at the State Theater for $80 a seat. cover bands play at every bar for 5 miles. lets be honest, neither are doing anything new. i moved from Detroit (to Easton [without ever have setting foot here {on Jan 1st 2011}]) and quickly realized that

the only thing missing in this town was a dedicated music venue. being in its centralized location between NYC & Philly, Easton provides an excellent way point for any traveling band below Ringo and above cover bands [at least in matters of relevance, not visibility]. to widen the scope past just music, why not include performance art? audio & video installation? creative workshops? These happenings need only one thing - a venue in which to manifest their visions.

development is taking place in every other building from the circle to the Silk Mill. this town is about to be thriving, we are not there just yet - but the infrastructure is almost in place. the density is building. people are moving in every week. i know the need is there.

and if you want to keep up with the progress, keep up with me:

iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve made it my goal to open a venue for such happenings in our dear town. a location has been selected, a timeline has been established - but this project is going to take a lot of work, and a lot of help from the community. Easton is no where near where it was when i moved here. a burnt out building downtown is now a 5 star restaurant and luxury apartments.

I admit it: I still love comic books. I still love popping in the local comic shop on Wednesdays, when new books arrive on the shelves. I still love the sense of awe and wonderment that comes with following the monthly adventures of my favorite characters. There are many who view comic books simply as “kids’ stuff,” despite billions Hollywood had raked in f oo the h c S from the numerous feature films, n sti television shows, and merchandising By Du of characters who got their start on the printed page. The medium is just as, if not more, popular than it has ever been. In other words, now is the perfect time to dive right in. No dipping of the toes, sink or swim, baby.

“Hawkeye” Marvel: by Matt Fraction, David Aja, and Matt Hollingsworth For me, it doesn’t get any better. Matt Fraction takes Clint Barton out of the bigaction, blockbuster setting and puts him on the streets. Barton, with the help of his protege and former replacement Kate Bishop, spends the first issue of the recently launched series taking down a corrupt slumlord, rather than get lost in the shuffle slugging it out with Thanos or some other cosmic big-bad. Fraction paces his story with the right mix of action, tension and dialogue; most notably his interaction with Bishop, introduced in the second issue. But it’s because of Aja’s fantastic art, with the help of the eye-catching inking from Hollingsworth, that really makes “Hawkeye” pop. The creators not only hit their mark, they landed a bull’s-eye.

“Adventures of Superman” DC Entertainment: Another digital-first series, soars above most of the in-continuity books being published by DC. Each issue contains multiple stories of the Man of Steel doing what he does best: saving lives and being Superman(and while wearing his famous red trunks, which were removed with the characters’ “New 52” cosmetic revamp). The stories penned by different writers and penciled and inked by different artists, are light and fun. Each adventure(get it?) is self-contained, which means readers are not bogged down by having to know 70 plus years of Superman mythology to follow the stories.

“Batman Black and White” DC Entertainment: As the title suggests, “Batman Black &White” is made up of different,out-of-continuity, Batman stories taken from various periods in the Dark Knight’s history told in black and white. The lack of color and different renderings and interpretations of the character, enhances, not distracts you from the stories. If you are a fan of the Caped Crusader, but don’t want to have to buy three or four Batman related books, just to know what the hell is going on in Gotham CIty(and beyond), “Batman Black & White” should be at the top of your reading list.

After we were seated by Harry Cregar Jr., we were enticed by our server Manuel to try a few of the house specialties. We started off with a gorgeous salad made of crisp lettuce, roasted red peppers, fresh buffalo mozzarella, olives, and some of the most succulent red tomatoes i have ever had, drizzled in a touch of oil and vinegar with a hint of salt and pepper.

Homemade manicotti stuffed with fresh ricotta cheese, in a marinara sauce, accented with a few basil leaves was the next course, a delicate transition into the main course to come. It was the Petite Filet Mignon that Mrs. Frances Cregar is renown for that truly satifies even the best gourmondsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; appetites. A succulent cut of meat!

Pennsylvania’s Own: YARDS Brewing Company Est. 1994 The year was 1988, and like many College students, Tom Kehoe and Jon Bovit, enjoyed their beer, but didn’t enjoy paying for it. Tom and Jon decided to take action and began brewing it themselves.

As they homebrewed their way through Western Maryland College, they experimented with malt, hops and yeast, formulating new recipes and sharing their creations with friends. It wasn’t long until they had more friends than beer. To gain some hands-on experience in a professional brewery, Kehoe and Bovit apprenticed at the British

Brewing Company, a English-style brewery Burnie, Md. The

pioneering in Glen early days were spent cleaning kegs and their first paycheck was in the form of a Happy Meal. No joke...quarter pounder, fries, and a coke.

In 1994, they emptied their savings accounts, maxed out their credit cards, and took the plunge by founding Yards Brewing Company in a 900-square foot garage in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia. The Yards story is now in its 19th year. There were a few stops along the way.

The Wynwood Walls was conceived by the renowned community revitalizor and placemaker Tony Goldman in 2009. He was looking for something big to transform the warehouse district of Wynwood, and he arrived at a simple idea: “Wynwood’s large stock of warehouse buildings, all with no windows, would be my giant canvases to bring to them the greatest street art ever seen in one place.” Starting with the 25th–26th Street complex of six separate buildings, his goal was to create a center where people could gravitate to and explore, and to develop the area’s pedestrian potential. The Wynwood Walls became a major art statement with Tony’s commitment to graffiti and street art, a genre that he believes is under appreciated and not respected historically. He wanted to give the movement more attention and more respect: “By presenting it in a way that has not been done before, I was able to expose the public to something they had only seen peripherally.”

Murals by renowned street artists have covered the walls of the Wynwood Walls complex since 2009, and to create more canvases and bring more artists to the project, Tony opened the Wynwood Doors in 2010 with 176 feet of roll-up storefront gates. The painted exteriors and interiors of the doors reveal a portrait gallery. Murals have also been commissioned for Outside the Walls through 2011, in key locations outside the park itself. The Wynwood Walls has brought the worldâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s greatest artists working in the graffiti and street art genre to Miami. Jeffrey Deitch cocurated the first successful year of the project in 2009, collaborating with Tony before his appointment

as museum director of MOCA Los Angeles. In 2010 and 2011 Tony selected the artists with the help of Goldman Properties Arts Manager Meghan Coleman, and Medvin Sobio of the Visual Arts Collective Viejas Del Mercado, alongside input from a network of artists, curators, and international experts in the street art genre. â&#x20AC;&#x153;We have strived for a diverse representation of both American and international artists that encompasses everything from the old school graffiti artists to the newest work being created around t h e world.
