Survey of the Village Do you like filling in forms? Nor do we. But we do want you to complete this one, please, because it will help Eastrea to make its mark. The first subject is the village hall – what ideas does everyone have for our hall? What facilities do you think it should it provide? What should it look like? Which activities would you attend, or do you feel Eastrea shouldn’t even have a hall? We are preparing business plans to make sure the proposed hall pays for itself (nobody wants Eastrea to have a ‘white elephant’). Soon there’ll be public meetings. We now have a short-list of architects, and – thanks to the fund-raisers of the past – we have enough money in the bank to encourage the major sources of funding to offer us the investment we need. Another important question is how Eastrea should develop in the future. We will be preparing a ‘Village Design Statement' (that’s the term they like to use in Local Government) and villagers can then, at last, have their say in planning matters at Fenland Hall. There are many questions to be discussed. What do you want done about road safety in Eastrea? Later on we’ll collect your views on whether the village needs more flowers, trees, more open space, or better public transport, Are local services good enough? How can we preserve Eastrea as a place with its own character?
There is another good reason to complete the forms: they will go into a prize draw. First prize is a meal at the Nag’s Head; the second will be a bottle of Scotch or gin, third prize a box of luxury chocolates. So – it will be very helpful when these forms have all been completed. And you could win a prize. For some questions you’ll find five columns on the form, enough for each person in the family. If there are families with more than five people living under the same roof, please let us know and we'll make special arrangements. When there is space on the form, the oldest person will tick the boxes in Column A, the next person in B, and so on. That way everyone can have their say.
How to return the form Forms can be returned in a sealed envelope marked ‘Survey’ and can be dropped into any of these addresses: 3 Wype Road 6 Mayfield Road 27 Thornham Way 103 Coates Road The Nag’s Head If you prefer, someone can call to collect your form. The results will be professionally analysed, but the details on your form will remain CONFIDENTIAL. Thanks for all your help!
