Architect’s designs

This is the first view of how our Eastrea community centre might look. So much planning work is being done - and the first analysis of the survey forms shows that more than 90 percent of the first 150 respondents want us to have a hall. Most of those people want a modern community centre rather than a traditional hall. The Trustees have now appointed an Executive Board to manage the applications for funding and the commissioning of a design for the Centre. We approached half a dozen leading firms of architects in the county, and two (Ellis-Miller and 5th Studio, both from Cambridge) were eventually short-listed. After lengthy presentations and interviews, the Executive Board unanimously agreed that Ellis-Miller should be appointed to design the building and help prepare the detailed costings. Their model of the provisional design is shown above. Do you like it? This model is available for villagers to examine at the Nag’s Head and members of the Committee will be on hand to discuss the design with anyone who lives in Eastrea. Please bring ideas you may have for particular uses. We are analysing the many suggestions already submitted in the survey forms, but want everyone to add their own ideas. These open discussions will be on Monday morning, 10-12 am, 29 October; Tuesday afternoon, 2-4 pm, 30 October and Wednesday evening, 7-9 pm, 31 October. They are spread through the days to give everyone a chance to call in. Please come along and give us your views - they really do matter! Any questions?
