STORERS GRANTS FOR STUDENTS: THE FIRST DECADE

Stefan Marseglia

The ancient Eastrea charity, The Storers (also known as the Herds and Bulls Grass Fund) was first set up about 300 years ago to ensure that villagers and their farm animals could manage to survive when Eastrea was cut off during the cold winter months. In today’s world, confidential grants can be awarded to residents in need. Awards for travel and sport have also been made. And ten years ago a widelywidelypublicized grants scheme for students was begun. Here are the some of the personal stories from our awardees.

In Feb 2005, after saving hard, she set off with partner Danny Green on a round-world trip through SE Asia, Australia and New Zealand, ending with the Rio
