Eastrea Village News EASTREA VILLAGE HALL can at last be seen, at least in outline. The roof beams have been erected, and the building is set to be completed in good time. After the final steel beam was installed the team paused for a moment as the tea was brewing. We’re grateful for a fine job to them: (L-R) Steve Horsepool (crane supervisor), Andy Peel (crane driver), James Dean (steel erector), Stuart Wood (site manager), Pat Doody (banksman, who coordinates the crane), Steve Horsepool (the crane supervisor), Richard Rose (steel erector) and Paul Hesford (production manager from ARC). The building, says Paul, will last for at least a century and then, if it requires some minor refurbishment, the frame could endure hundreds of years more. It is all designed for low maintenance over the years and the hall will be highly insulated.

EASTREA CENTRE FINALLY TAKES SHAPE THE FRAMEWORK of the Eastrea Centre is all now in place. Richard Rose, who was erecting the steel beams into position, said: “This really is a a marvellous building. Anyone would be proud of it — it’s very, very impressive. Once it’s done I will make a point of coming back over here just to see it.”
