Group Winner:
Ball Out War 2nd Place: Globo Gym Purple Cobras Analysis: Ball Out War will come out on top of Division A, with help from key players like Adam Bergen and Jake Silpe, in pursuit of its third dodgeball tournament championship. The Globo Gym Purple Cobras will use strategic dodgeballing similar to Ball Out War what is preached by owner and founder of Globo Gym, White Goodman. Team $GMONEY$ hopes to advance out of its division and play the Money Team to show that G-Money is better than normal currency. Dat Team Doe will look towards All-Conference goalkeeper Matt DiPatri to make some acrobatic catches and keep its team in it. The Freshman Young Bouls are entering their first ever dodgeball tournament and should come out with at least one win.
Division B
Team Name
Analysis: The Smithsonians will have no problem cruising through Division B. The team has come very close to a championship throughout their past dodgeball tournaments and is due for a championship. Mr. Maniscalco and his six sophomores, Mani-Fresh, should come in second in this division. However, Taking Care Of Business hopes to literally take care of some business out on the court and get a few victories. Sulfur Tungsten Silver will show off its close connection with the Taking Care of Business elements and look to get some wins. As one of the better teams consisting of only girls, CHE Girls Basketball will fly under the radar in Division B and compete for a second-place finish.

Frank-Tops Dodge Style
Analysis: Frank-Tops will finish on top of Division C by showing off theirtanks and their Frank. Dodge Style, a team of all sophomores, will stylishly dodge and take second place in the division. Mighty Ballers is a team consisting of all girls’ soccer players. It should be the best girls team in the tournament and should compete for second in this division. Blasian Persuasion will show off its culturally sound team and try to persuade the court referees to give the team a win. The Slippery Six hopes to keep its grip on the newly waxed DiBart Gym floor and not slip all over the Mighty Ballers court.

Analysis: Money Team plans to show off its paper and yell “money” after every play in every match it plays. It will take first place in the division and show that its form of currency is the best. The Pretty Crackas have two pairs of siblings—the Dillons and the Swensons— and should take second in the division. D-Wing @ Aliciousness will show off its performing skills and make an impct in Division D. Curry Crew Sweg hopes to win a game or two in the tournament. Also, Krispy Kreme Sale Jan 9th will once again show great displays of shameless advertising out on the court.
Analysis: The juniors of the Muffin Stuffers will be on top of Division E and stuff some dodgeballs into their opponents. Toon Squad is a team of freshmen and the cool part about them is that they all believe they are cartoons themselves. They will take second in the division. Livin’ Like Larry could get a few wins in the division and show that the members are playing as Larry the Lobster would. Incrediballers will ball out on the court and get a win or two. Nate’s Garden Tools plan to plant their dodgeball seed in the dodgeball tournament and watch it grow.

Chin Strap Ballcoholics
Analysis: The football players of Chin Strap will strap on their dodgeball helmets and take first place in Division F. Ballcoholics will show their addiction to dodgeball and take second place in the division. Five and a Half Men will be playing half a man down and hope to get a win to fill the missing half a person. Fast Pitches is one of two all girls teams in Division F and consistsBallcoholics of all softball players. The members will show that they can throw a dodgeball just as hard as a softball. The Wrecking Ballers are all sophomore girls and will come into this tournament like a wrecking ball, but with more appropriate clothes on.
Group Winner:
Foot Fairies Bad Asymptote Mother Functions
Analysis: The Foot Fairies will have to show that they can use their hands and not just their feet but will win Division G. Bad Asymptote Mother Functions are counting on their praised captain Mr. Semus to display signs of true dodgeballing and will take second place in the division. Sam Snyder and The Above Average Joes will show that they are above average at playing dodgeball and get some wins. The Body Hunters will literally hunt down the bodies of their targets and get a win or two. The Nasties plan to prove that they are very nasty at dodgeball and look to be the surprise team of this division.

This is Eastside’s 16th tournament, and we are proud that it has become a twice-a-year East tradition. Events like these help us to print issues and run our website. We are proud to announce that Eastside has been named the #1 high school newspaper in New Jersey for five consecutive years. We are also proud to announce that ten editors received awards at the National High School Journalism Convention in Boston, MA, this past November.
Watch the event unfold on Thursday, December 12.
Important Rules For Players... - Familiarize yourself with the registration packet, which explains all of the rules and guidelines in detail. - Players are not permitted to step outside the the borders of the court. Eastside staff will be in charge of retrieving any dodgeballs outside of the court. If a player violates this rule, he/she will be called out as if hit by a ball. - No arguing with the alumni and staff referees or any other Eastside staff members will be tolerated. Their rulings are final. Arguments or any foul play could result in being thrown out of the tournament and future tournaments. - If a player is hit and eliminated, he/she can make no intentional contact with a dodgeball. For example, no dodgeballs can be kicked or thrown out of frustration after a player is eliminated. The above rules and all previous rules will be strictly enforced by referees.
All teams MUST arrive by 6:40 p.m. Spectators should arrive by 7:00 p.m. Please be sure to visit www.eastside-online.org and www.youtube.com/eastsideonline afterwards for post-tournament coverage as well as coverage from past years! Spellings were provided by the respective teams. Continue to tweet selfies @eastsideonline to be included in our January issue!
